ITunes can't load Aperture library for iPad Air sync

I have a 120gb Aperture library stored on my NAS. Got my new iPad Air and when I go to the Photos tab in sync options, the gray wheel just keeps on spinning indefintely. I don't know if it can't load a library that big, or if there's something else going on. If I create a small Aperture library it works fine. Anyone else had this issue?
Running 11.1.3 on Mavericks.
Thanks!

I'm experiencing exactly the same issue with a 42GB Library. Same issue even if I create a new smaller library. When I click on the device in itunes and then photos I get the grey wheel turning for hours. I tried switching to iPhoto library and the issue seems worse.

  • ITunes can't find Aperture Library for iPad sync

I just upgraded from iPhoto '11 to Aperture 3. When trying to sync my iPad, and telling iTunes to now sync photos from Aperture, I get the following message:
"Your Aperture Library could not be found. Open the preferences window in Aperture and enable the preference to share previews with other applications."
All well and good, but when I go to the preference pane in Aperture, I do not see the referenced option. Under the "Previews" tab (Aperture > Preferences > Previews) I see the options for "Share previews with iLife and iWork" (Always/When quitting Aperture/Never)--is that the preference indication they mean? None of those options results in iTunes being able to see my Aperture library.
Oddly, Aperture can see and import photos on my iPad that are not already in my Library, but claims it cannot send photos in the other direction because the library can't be seen. Frustrating

This is a repost from another thread dealing with what I think is the same issue. It is what ended up working for me:
I have gone through a lot of steps and they all seem to have inched me closer to resolving this issue. My original post may have been cluttered so I'll list the steps I took here. The final step, though very time consuming seems to have corrected most of the problems, though I think I now need to get Aperture to generate new previews for all of my images at a size that the iPad likes (1920x1920).
    1. Set Aperture's preference to Always share with iLife applications
    2. Set Aperture's preference to generate previews at 1920x1920 or better
    3. Repair Permissions via the Aperture Library First Aid function described here (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3805). You may want to do one of the more serious Library repairs just to get things organized with the file structure system but "Repair Permissions" seems to have been all I need to do.
    4. Go to the top of your image hierarchy and reprocess all of the images with the newest Aperture RAW convertor by control-clicking on Photos and selecting "Reprocess Masters"(if you shoot RAW... and you should shoot RAW). It gives you several options, I chose to preserve all of my edits which will add additional time to the process but is worth it so you don't have to re-edit everything. I selected "All Photos" and "Reprocess Existing Images"
If you have a large library (1TB or more) you are now two days or so into this process.
    5. Back up your Vault to save these changes
    6. Generate new previews since you changed the size in which Aperture saved the JPEGs it uses to export to Aperture. I believe this is done from the top of the image hierarchy as well by holding down the option key when you right-click on the whole library. But, I am not at this stage yet so I can't be sure about that.

  • ITunes can't see Aperture Library - iMovie can't see most videos in Aperture Library

    Issues:
Nearly all of my videos in the Aperture/iPhoto library do not show up when I select iPhoto library option in iMovie and iMovie is unable to locate them in any other way.
iTunes does not recognize my Aperture library, and I get the following message:
"Your Aperture Library could not be found. Open the preferences window in Aperture and enable the preference to share previews with other applications."
After reading through forums and multiple Genius Bar appointments here is most of what I have done:
Created multiple new Aperture libraries, selected them in Aperture, rebooted, switched back and forth - Note:  iTunes DID recognize the new blank libraries
Booted Aperture with the Command + Option keys and run all three options to repair permssions and even rebuilt the database
Booted Aperture with the Option key and selectedthe library I was using all along (this worked for someone in a forum)
Opened iPhoto (not Aperture) and selected an option to share photos
Run "Verify Disk Permissions" many times under Disk Utility
Run "Repair Disk Permissions" many times under Disk Utility
    Reinstalled OSX
    Reinstalled Aperture
    Reinstalled iTunes
Run a virus and malware scan (no issues)
Verified that Aperture was set to share previews and had a Genius go through all of my options to ensure they were correct in iTunes, Aperture, and iPhoto
Have ran "Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs" from the Command + Option + R recovery partition multiple times.  Each time it just hangs for hours, the latest attempt ran for over 24 hours before I finally stopped it.
Oh yes, and I found and deleted the file com.apple.iApps.plist
None of these things fixed either of my issues.  According the the Genius at my last appointment, now I have to call Apple Care and pay to get support.  I must have misunderstood what the Genius Bar was about when I bought my Mac and why I purchased the One to One training.  Before I call Apple Care, I was hoping someone might have run across this and can help me.
I asked the Genius if I now need to just create a new Aperture Library and move all of my content to it (that was the last resort for someone in a forum); however, he was concerned that even if this might work that I probably have deeper permission and/or other issues that need to be addressed and that doing so would not fix the root cause.
Thanks for taking the time to read through this issue.

It was suggested that I post this in the Aperture forum, so I did.  I didn't know that you couldn't delete or edit your own posts on this site.  I apologize for the duplicate post and this can be deleted if an admin is so inclined.

  • ITunes can't see Aperture Library

Last week I bought a new MacBook Pro and have just about got all my user data copied over and every thing configured the way I want it to be. But I'm having a small problem with iTunes seeing my Aperture library.
When I try to set up photo sharing to my Apple TV or to sync to my iPhone I get this error message:
I don't understand how to fix this since I have told Aperture to "always" share previews with iLife and iWork apps. Is there an option I'm missing? Any suggestions will be appreciated.
    Regards,
    Michael

I made a duplicate copy of a picture and did some editing of it.  I added sepia tone, etc.  When I go to Shutterfly to upload the edited picture, I can't find it.  I see the original, but not the edited duplicate.  I shut down the computer last night and let it update and checked it again this morning, but still can't find the edited picture.  I know it is "in there" somewhere, because when I open Aperture 3, I can see the edited pic.  Any thoughts?  Thank you.

That is the only logical conclusion. There is an easy solution. On the Mac app store download a free app called smartconverter. It is free. You just drag and drop file into app and it will convert to any file u want. I hope that foxes your issue

  • I installed the upgrade and now itunes can't find my library and doesn't recognize my devices. Using Windows 7. Any help?

Help!!! I installed the 10.5 update and now itunes can't find my library or recognize my devices. Running on Windows 7.

For moving your iTunes library, I recommend this method...
Assuming you use the iTunes default settings where iTunes copied added items to your iTunes folder and organizes your library (meaning - everything is all self contained in the iTunes folder), then all you have to do is drag & drop your iTunes folder (not just the iTunes Music folder you find inside the iTunes folder) to the external drive and copy the entire thing.
If you want to test that it worked or would like to actually start using it from that location instead, use these instructions when you start iTunes to point it to the new location...

If you are just testing, then close iTunes after you verify it works, and restart iTunes again with the same instructions and point it back to your internal drive (original) location.
Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

  • Can't load a library that depends on another

I built a library and it loaded perfectly (just for testing).
Now, my library is supposed use ALSA's API.
Now, I get to compile my library, just like before, but now I can't load the library. I get a UnsatisfiedLinkError. The message is a little cryptic: Can't load IA 32-bit .so on a IA 32-bit platform
It seems like when my library is being loaded, the alsa library on which it depends (libalsa09.so) can't be loaded. How can I avoid this? I added both my library's and alsa's directories to LD_LIBRARY_PATH, but I just can't get it done.
    Here's what happens:
    $ LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/ao/plugins-2:lib java -cp bin wmagic.basic.Wave 440
    Can't load library wmagic_alsa
    java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: /home/antoranz/eclipse/europa/workspace/wmagic/lib/libwmagic_alsa.so: Can't load IA 32-bit .so on a IA 32-bit platform

         <arg value="${library.dir}/libwmagic_alsa.so" />

If you are linking to a shared library then one of the following must be true.
    1. The shared library must be in the shared library path of the OS
    2. You must explicitly load the shared library first using an explicit path.

  • Can´t see Aperture Library in new Keynote and new Pages but yes in old Numbers

I update to Mavericks. Then the same for Aperture, Keynote and Pages. In the iWork programs, when i try to open media i can not see my Aperture Library. But in the old version of Numbers yes, i can see de Aperture Library.
Of course yes, I repared permisions, update previews for photos and also change to other Aperture libraries. But nothing works yet.
Any one whith the same problem?

So basically here's what I did:
Created a new library. Let iphoto name it. (it was named Photo Library).
Openned iWork (I don't care which app...they all do the same **** thing)
Click on Media, and voila. There is my library, with the photos in it.
NOW.....I changed the name of the new library to something else. Open it in iphoto or aperture. I see the photos in the app. When I open it with iWork, now it's empty and says that there is NO media.
I work with multiple libraries, and there are all named according to subject (Work, Family, etc.).
Apple has screwed the pooch with this abysmal version of the software.
If you are happy putting ALL your photos in 1 library, good for you. If not, your screwed.

  • Why is it that Itunes can't find album art for "North" by Elvis Costello and others

Why is it that from all the albums in my Library itunes can not find album art for:
    "North" by Elvis Costello
    "Viva la Vida" by Coldplay
and "Old Yellow Moon" by Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowel?

    Earl,
For iTunes to find the art, it needs to match exactly on the Artist and Album Text.  Minor issues like spacing or punctuation can prevent the match, as can a misspelling like "Crowel" for Crowell."
Look in the iTunes Store to get the exact text, fix the tags in the corresponding tracks, and then try again to "Get Album Artwork."
If that still fails, just grab the correct art off the web, and paste it into the Artwork tab.

  • What .xml or .itl  file do I delete so I can re-load my library?

I opened iTunes today and although all my music was listed under "Music" in the Library, every time I tried to play a song I am told that the original cannot be found.  So what do I need to do to clear out iTunes "memory" so I can re-load the library?

Preferences just tells iTunes where to store music (in the future) it does not add it to your library. The media folder you point to (unecessarily since it is the faefault setting) can be loaded chock-full of media but you have to add it to your library before any of it will show in iTunes.  Deleting those two library files just got rid of all reference to yur having those media files as far as iTunes was concerned, and now you need to have it lern about them again by adding them.
