ITunes can't read my Mini
Nothing new other than iTunes7. Plugged in my iPod and got the iTunes cannot read iPod, please restore. Not really that big of a deal to me, I've got all my music here. However, when I click OK, my iPod disappears from the left side of iTunes so there is no way for me to restore. I've tried Apple's website for the old iPod updater and it just sends me to the iTunes page and says iTunes now does the updating. Any ideas on how to restore my iPod since iTunes is now being goofy?
Thanks in advance
Well, I appreciate the help, but that didn't seem to fix it. I actually need to restore (the kind that removes all files) but iTunes won't let me. I'm using 6.xx on my desktop and I've upgraded to 7 on my laptop and I get the same error message on both. As I mentioned above, when I click OK on the error message, my iPod disappears from the left side of iTunes which makes it impossible (as far as I know) to restore.
I can listen to the stuff that's on there, but I can't add anything. Very frustrating.

when I connected it to itunes...it gave the message, itunes can not read data from this iphone, restore it to factory settings. It also said while restoring ypu will lose all media data but you can restore the contacts.
I restored the factory settings....the phone was on recovery mode...it was verified by itunes and all that..but in the end it again said that iphone has some problem and can not function right now.
after that when ever i connect it with itunes, it gives the message, it can not activate the iphone further, try again later or contact customer service.
What to do now?????? Customer service people say..it is hardware problemIf it's a hardware problem, then the phone will need to be replaced.

Help required please. "Itunes can not read the contents of my iphone"
Greetings all,
I know this question has been asked before and I apologize for asking again but all the solutions provided don't seam to work for me, can anyone help me please.
I am receving the message: "Itunes can not read the contents of the iPhone. Go to the summary tab In iPhone Preferences and click restore torestore this Iphone to factory settings".
Now a little about my iphone, Itunes and my laptop and what steps i havealready tried.
I have an iPhone 4 running software 5.0
My itunes version is 10.5.0.142
I know these are not the most up to date versions but I have had this issue for almost 3 months now and updating the software back then was the first step I tried. I don’t believe updating to the latest will fix this issue as updating the last two times did nothing.
Every so often after starting Itunes, The program will stop responding and will require the three finger death kill (CTRL, ALT, DELETE) to open task manager to end the task of Itunes. Once it shuts down, I restart the iTunes and it runs smoothly, apart from not reading my iPhone.
When I run a diagnostic in itunes under the help tab, I get these fail messages:
Network Connectivity test: Secure link to Itunes store fail
Device connectivity test: Under support services: Itunes helper is not running. And under ports: No iPod, iPhone or iPad found.
Device Sync test: No iPod touch, iPhone or iPad found.
*See below for full diagnostic report*
I have restored back to factory settings twice.
I have shut down and restarted both my iPhone and laptop.
I am running Windows 7 32-bit on my laptop.
I am using ZoneAlarm as my fire wall, and have been disabling it when syncing my iPhone to prevent other error messages.
The iPhone is plugged into a genuine Iphone USB cable and is plugged into a USB port not a USB hub on my laptop, I have tried plugging it into all 4 USB ports and this issue still persist. The Cable is less then 5 months old, is not frayed or damaged in any way, have also borrowed 2 other cables from friends and still the same issue.
The iPhone does not even come up in windows explorer as a digital camera.
The iPhone is NOT jailbroken
I do not live close to a so called genius bar, however I have made the journey to them on 3 separate occasions last year when I first received my iPhone for a different issue, the so called genius's could not fix the problem so they just gave me a new (refurbished) iPhone, which did not extend my warranty. I will not be taking the iPhone back to them as I believe they can not resolve many issues, this is why I am reaching out to the power of the people in the wider apple community.
I have read in other forums about ifunbox and other programs for jail broken iPhones to isolate folders “iTunesDB” and "iTunesCDB" and delete them. If this is the issue is there a way to access these files through windows explorer as my iphone is not jailbroken.
I hope I have provided enough information and someone can help me fix this issue. If I have left anything out, please let me know. I thank everyone in advance for your patience and support.
Thanks

ITunes can't read or write to iPod -- won't sync
Classic 30 Gb iPod approx 1 yr old, Windows XP Pro, iTunes 7.5. I added some new trax to iTunes to make total approx 5800 trax, 18 Gb. When I attach the iPod it will load approx 130 trax, 380 Mb, then get msg that iTunes can neither read nor write to the hard disk. The loaded trax will play. I have done the 5 Rs many times, sent the iPod to Apple twice, deleted iTunes many times, deleted the iTunes library and partially reloaded my CDs, all to no avail. I am convinced that I have an iTunes prob because a) Apple can't find a prob and b) I can load my wife's library of approx 1000 trax, using her computer w 7.5
hi, im also having a similar sort of problem. previous generation iPod video 80Gb version, windows vista 32bit and itunes 7.5(although the problem also occurred with the last 7.4 update).currently the iPod is empty, and out of the 9364 songs (50.01 Gb) in my itunes library, less than 100mb will be synced to my ipod before the sync simply cuts out, like it had completed the sync normally. I have taken the ipod in to an apple store and it synced perfectly with a mac. I have also tried removing and re-installing itunes, even deleted the preferences and other app data that normally gets left in the computer, and i also tried restoring the ipod to factory settings several times to no avail... oh, and i also tried using different cables to connect the ipod, incase the cable was loose, but that didnt work either.

When I sync my ipad or iphone, Itunes will start syncing but after every few songs it syncs, itunes interupts the sync with a message saying it can't read the song. I can go to that song in my list of music and play it in itunes but itunes can't read it to sync. This has just started happening in the last week, 06/28/13.
Does anyone know what is going on. The message is as follows: iTunes could not copy "such and such song" to the iphone because the file could not be read.
rhpiperI didn't understand what you mean. Most of the songs itunes flags are songs I have had on my list for a long time. I did notice something else. After it sends me the message and stops syncing. I press the apply button and it seams to save the song. Then I have to start resyncing and I noticed it syncs the song that it just previously couldn't read. The problem is I have to do this 50 times to get through a sync. Also, Itunes never stops on the same songs that it did the prior sync.

every time i plug my iPhone into my mac book pro, it tells me it can't read my iPhone and i need to restart my phone. How do i figure out if my settings and iPhone have already been backed up? I know i have backed it up on iTunes in the past, just not sure how long ago. I just want to be able to play music on my iPhone. I have had to delete my music on my phone before to make room for updates and such. and now iTunes can't read it. I don't get it
Hi Natropolis,
If you would like to see the last time your iPhone was backed up to iTunes on your Mac, you may find the information in the following article helpful:

I am not able to Sync. My iPOD classic 80Gb. It tells that as iTunes can not read the contents-restore to factory settings- after restoring – it tells that it can not be restored bcause there are files that are used by other application. My iPOD appears in My Computer in drive H as a mass storage generick volume
Try disabilng the Enable Disk Use option from under the iPod's Summary tab, applying the changes, and seeing if that helps.
Otherwise, temporarily disabling any antivirus, security, firewall, or file indexing software that may be running on your system and then try restoring your iPod again.

Problems syncing 3GS with iTunes: Can't read content
I have a 3GS and when I try to sync it, I get an error message saying that iTunes can't read the content of my phone. (I've tried syncing on mulitple computers and get this message each time.) Interestingly, iPhoto opens and has no problems. iTunes gives me the option of restoring to factory setting but then I'll lose everything. I've deleted and reinstalled iTunes, but got the same message. Any help is greatly appreciated.

ITunes can't read my iPod Video 5th Generation
Hey guys,
So my iPod was messed up for a while back, but I managed to reset/restore it so it's basically at a clean slate. Now when I plug it into my computer, it shows the normal "Do not disconnect." screen and it even shows up on My Computer.
The problem is: iTunes can't read it. It shows nothing on the side panel of iTunes. I tried doing all the device manager things and everything seems to be good. I have an iPod Nano 3rd Generation and it works perfectly well on my iTunes when I plug it in.
Any suggestions on how to get my iTunes to read my iPod Video 5th generation?Watcha,
I haven't had any of these problems yet, but getting ready to download the newer version of Itunes. I have a HP Pavilion PC-based laptop with Windows 7, and also an IPOD Video 5th Gen. So I really hope I won't get any problems. Sorry I didn't have any solutions and hope your problems were solved. -

ITunes can't read its own library/claims damaged
I'm running iTunes 11.1.1 on OSX 10.8.5 on a late 2012 Mac Mini. iTunes 10.x started complaining on startup that the library file is damaged and can't be read. This persists today after upgrading iTunes.
After starting and renaming the old library, it shows my purchased music from iTunes Store, with horribly broken album cover art. I've tried re-importing my music and after reading it all in it is unable to access the saved library after restart.
This began on a RAID drive, and I've the same issue on my Mac's internal drive when I change the media directory.
iTunes can read a saved version from June 2013 that it backed up, but upon exit and restart, it complains that the library is damaged.
Any help would be appreciated. What's the option key? I think I'm having the same problem, except I moved my library to defrag the drive and them moved it back. And now iTunes doesn't see my info or playlists or anything...
