hello everyone,
i've been trying to synchronize my contacts and calendars to my ipod nano 4g lately. after much effort, my calendars are synced... but my contacts don't. when i click the 'contacts' tab in itunes, i can also not choose the option to select wich contacts to sync manually, the only option is 'sync all', but it doesn't sync anything with that. how can i fix this? i am using itunes 8 and outlook 2007 by the way.

THanks for that...I have done that BUT 43 of my most important contacts out of 883 are locked into a "Local Contacts" folder. THey show up in my Contacts folder but are not included in the sync to my iPhone. Any ideas?

Thanks for posting your example. You may want to remove your workspace details from the previous posting, or at least update the password on the workspace. I've taken a look at your example and initially couldn't see anything wrong with your tree query. However, when I ran your query in SQL Workshop, it only returned one row, which would explain why you were only seeing one node in your tree! I've updated your query to use a WITH clause, and the tree is now working correctly. I believe you've hit an underlying database bug where the CONNECT BY query is only returning 1 row, when in fact it should return > 1 row. By re-writing the query to use a WITH clause, you can get around the problem.

Itunes can't sync contacts

iPhone 4, brand new but not a 4s, Installed iTunes 10.5 on Windows XP comptuer. iTunes failed to backup phone. Then crashed with message saying it needed to be reloaded. Reloaded it with the same version 10.5. iTunes page says 10.5 is compatible with XP. iTunes is virtually unusable if any of the options you want are in menus. The drop down menus only stay visible for a second or less. Cannot sync with Outlook. It says it does but nothing happens. Either that or it says it didn't sync because the sync never started. How helpful. Phone support says it is because my phone has been upgraded to iOS 5. What on earth does that have to do with how iTunes behaves? iTunes failed before I upgraded my phone and after. I am very disappointed with my phone, with Apple tech support, and with AT&T because they won't let me return or exchange it.
My iPhone has been a nightmare.

Uninstalling and reinstalling itunes DID NOT MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE. iTunes still has one-second drop-down menus that are impossible to use, sync of contacts still silently fails, etc. NO CHANGE. This is WIndows XP with SP3 and is up to date with all updates installed. All other software works fine, only Apple software is giving me trouble. Does anybody actually know of any solution? Don't guess.

i just moved to a new PC (former: Sony Vaio pro with win 7 pro, outlook 10 > new: sony vaio duo with win 8, outlook 13 from office 365 home). i used to sync outlook contacts and calendars with blackberry and iphone and ipad on my old notebook using desktop manager from blackberry.
Now with my new PC, ipad and iphone are still working fine and they sync with outlook: new entries on outlook calendar and new contacts are added to my mobile and vice versa but when i connect my Blackberry Bold i don get any of the updates.
i confirm that i am using the latest version of the desktop manager 7.0.
my desktop manager organizer is set up to sync both ways for both calendar and contacts
Any idea please?

Can't Sync contacts from Outlook

I have a new Curve and can't sync my contacts from outlook to my Blackberry. It seems to be a common problem. Does anyone know when a fix is going to be available from RIM? I have the latest version of media manager 4.7.

I've tried everything...
iPhone version: 5S with latest OS (v.8.1).
Outlook version 2013, on Windows 7, latest iTunes version (12.x)
I prefer NOT to use iCloud (as the representation of iCloud contacts in Outlook ignores the contacts' folder division, which is important to me).
I have an Exchange server, though the sync is directed to my local Outlook client.
All other settings looks good (again, syncing FROM Outlook TO iPhone works, but I need vice versa).
I've tried syncing with closed Outlook client. Tried resetting configuration, tried moving to iCloud and back etc.. All, just to see the problem persist. Newly created contacts on the PC get synced to the iPhone, while newly created contacts ON the iPhone, does not get synced to Outlook.
Please HELP.

I have the same problem, when I sync the contacts they pass well from outlook to my iphone, but not the way around, indeed it changes my iphone contacts information and dismisses all the inputs that I already made in the iphone.

Java pulgin is enablesed and still not working with firefox but is working with my explorer browser

Java 1.7.0_10 from Oracle Corp is working with my Explorer but when I go to a sight with Firefox, it shows that its not installed. When I go into Firefox's plug-ins, it shows that its enabled....How do I fix this?

Your plugins list only shows the Java Deployment plugin and not the Java plugin.<br />
A possible cause is that the Java installer failed to create the necessary registry keys that Firefox uses to scan for plugins.

Itunes can't sync contacts due to disconnect

Has anyone had this happen? I try syncing all my contacts and I get this. Itunes could not synch this Ipod because it has been disconnected. I can't get it to pass this point. It is still connected. Any help is appreciated.
I do have the most recent Itunes.

I just thought I don't get it.
Now using Mavericks, I am no longer allowed/able to sync my contacts and even calendar via iTunes. I need to use iCloud.
What do you think of this? iCloud is quite nice for certain things like music or maybe Calendar, but to have my Contacts in iCloud I don't like.
At least I would like to have the choice how to sync (iCloud or iTunes like before). But only iCloud???
My concern is data security ... Maybe I should start again knowing all contact numbers by heart like I did many years ago when mobile phones
were not that common. That's brain training, too ;-)

How can I sync Bridge between multiple computers at work with keywords/collections/search?

We've been trying to find a digital asset management platform at work for a while now and I recently came across Bridge (we have the Creative Cloud). It's perfect! Except we're all on a bunch of different computers and would need to be able to search the same keywords/collections all from the same server (the photos are in many different folders though). Is there a way to be able to sync all keywords etc on multiple computers? Or if someone opens Bridge and can search right away without having to make all the keywords persistent by finding each photo and clicking on it? We're all on the same Creative Cloud team.

I actually did already create a book with all the files in it, but I couldn't figure out how that was helpful. The hyperlink panel doesn't seem to have any "book" options (unless I'm looking in the wrong place?) and just linking to the different files (after creating the book) didn't have any different results than linking to the files before I created the book.
I thought maybe linking to the different files in the book would work if I could export the whole book to pdf at once (which would be super-helpful in and of itself), but that doesn't seem to be an option either.
I guess what I'm asking is for you to elaborate on what to do after creating the book.

Why can't I sign on to the gannett online forums with firefox but it works with IE?

When I try to logon to my local newspaper's websites (they are gannett papers) It just hangs at the logon popup and will not allow me access.

To be honest - Apple did a miserable job in designing the user accounts on Apple Store, iTunes app profile, Apple ID profile and Apple discussion groups profile. You can't even change the password in discussion groups. You have to go through "forgot password" to reset it. I tried it once and never received the reset-email. Total misery.
Anyway, I had the same issue with not being able to sign into Apple Store app. In the end I resolved it by CLIKING on the PURCHASES button in iTunes, then it asked me for password and then I was able to make purchases etc..

My email suddenly quit working with Firefox but still works with Google.

The inbox opens up but won't go to a message when it's clicked. Also won't delete messages or go to any other folders. New messages do come in-just can't read them. This started a couple days ago and Firefox didn't seem to be performing well that day. When it improved the email problem remained.

Java is not working with Firefox (but is working with Safari)

My computer is showing that Java is not enabled via Firefox. When I try to go into Tools/Add-ons, I see that there is no Java plug-in on that list (though I previously had no problem with Java). When I run software update on my Mac, it tells me my software is all up to date. Not sure what else to do. Java is working in Safari, so the problem is clearly with Firefox. I've tried disabling all my plug-ins, and clearing my cache. Nothing has helped.

Apple has removed support for the Java Plugin2 with the latest Java Update 10 for OS X 10.5 Java version, so the Java plugin is no longer available for Firefox versions and other browsers like Google Chrome that require the Java Plugin2.
There will be fix for this in Firefox 6 or in Firefox 5.0.1 if that version will be released, so that Firefox will find the plugin again.
I don't know if all Java applets will still be working on OS X 10.5 with this fix (Apple recommends updating to OS X 10.6).
