ITunes can't sync - permissions issues

I am receiving permissions issues when trying to sync my iPhone with iTunes.  This just started in the last week.
Background: When we purchased the iMac, we imported users from an old system.  The user IDs were different.  I have had to reset users on several of the system files over time.  In this case, I can't determine which files need to be reset to allow my phone to be sync'd.
The following errors are in the console messages.  I have also recreated the Address Book and set the user ID on it again to make sure it can sync.

I received the same error message after I had recently updated iTunes to 10.5.1 and I had wirelessly updated 13 apps.  I had to go into iTunes and select Apps, on the bottom right it said I needed to update 13 apps.  I updated the apps via iTunes and then synced again without an issue.

  • My macbook pro's iTunes can't sync with my iPad1

    Hi there,
My MacBook Pro's iTunes can't sync with my iPad1. They are connected by cable and the Macbook and the ipad can find each other by wifi but that's it. The software seems to be upto date on both but im not sure as i can't find the itunes app symbol in the settings area of the ipad but it has itunes. I hope that helps.
    Cheers folks,
    R

It is not of any help but have exactly the same issue. Called one of our local radio Tech Shows (The Tech Guy, with Leo Leporte) and for what it is worth his only answer was that it was a bug. He noted that apparently i-Tunes was not looking at i-Photo for the library location but rather, as you have noted, only looks in the default location.
Be interested if you get this solved or come up with another work around that does not require my library to be in the default directory.
As you noted i-Photo is happy it is just the sync with i-Tunes, it just doesn't work,

  • ITunes can not sync apps to the iPhone because it can not be determined which apps are installed on the iPhone.

    Hello.
    I get this error message
iTunes can not sync apps to the iPhone because it can not be determined which apps are installed on the iPhone.
iTunes kann keine Apps mit dem iPhone synchronisieren weil nicht festgestellt werden kann welche Apps auf dem iPhone installiert sind.
    Need Help

Basic troubleshooting is reset, restart, restore.  Have the first two been tried?
How about simply unplugging the iPhone and plugging it back in to sync?
What has been done in an attempt to troubleshoot the issue?

  • ITunes can't sync an audiobook with an iPhone!

iTunes will not sync an AudioBook from the iTunes Store
This is ridiculous - Apple charges for an audiobook in the store, but the sync fails so I can't listen to it on my iPhone - lots of similar questions and issues posted to discussion boards, but no solution other than "It should work!"  - And it doesn't work - this is a stupid situation in which $'s are taken and services are not rendered!

P.S I have aso reset my iPad as well as my computer to no avail.

  • IPOD locks ITunes - can't sync

I have ITunes 8.0.1. Ever since I've downloaded 8 I've had issues with my Itunes. Before it was just that Genius locked up my system so I stopped using Genius, but now I can't sync my IPOD. It locks up Itunes. Is there anything I can do?

I have had the same issue as yourself over the last few days and i've eventually found the answer.
I had a half hour long phone call with Applecare product support and they told me to do the following.
1, Remove all traces of iTunes 8.0.1 (search through this forum for the files to remove, as i can't remember them all as i'm not very computer savvy)
2, Log onto www.oldapps.com and download iTunes 7.6.2 and install it.
3, Do a reinstall of the OSX with the backup discs that came with the computer.
BUT.. When you go to do the reinstall when you get to the screen where you see a picture of the hard drive, click on the options button below it and choose 'Archive and Restore' then carry on with
    reloading the OSX.
    4. When the reinstall has completed run a software update and install them all EXCEPT iTunes 8.0.1
After i did that iTunes worked as it should with no system freezes.
The next day i ran a software update and forgot to uncheck the iTunes 8.0.1 update but to my astonishment iTunes 8.0.1 now runs perfectly, No freezes, No slow running.
Hope this helps you out. I know it seems a bit extreme but all i can say is that it has worked for me with no problems at all.

  • New version of iTunes can't sync or see my iPod Touch

I have been using my iPod Touch with iTunes for a few years (PC Windows) then I updated my computer and got the latest version of iTunes. Now, I can't add or delete songs to my iPod Touch. When I try to sync the iPod Touch, songs I've added to the iTunes library don't get added to the iPod Touch. Similar problem with trying to delete songs. I can't even seem to delete them from the I created a new Apple ID and authorised my new computer. My iPod Touch however doesn't appear as a device in iTunes. What do I need to do to get my iPod Touch communicating with this new version of iTunes?

  • ITunes can't sync songs because 'file not found'

I just bought an iPad. Installed some apps etc.
Want to manually manage some music. But almost every song comes up with the error 'iTunes Can't Synch (insert filename) because the file cannot be found. But they are all there. They even sync fine to my iPod Touch.
Anything I can do to fix this? I really want my playlists/music in my iPad as well, without iTunes skipping over half of them because it cannot find them (I can play them just fine: they are there, the error simply pops up syncing to the Pad).

    HI,
Make sure you are syncing from the the correct hard drive. Either on your computer or an external disk where the iTunes library is stored.
If the library is stored locally on your MacBookPro, try restoring the iPad.
On your iPad tap Settings / General / Erase All Content and Settings. Then follow the instructions.
Might be a good idea to not re sync those apps you just installed until after the iTunes library has synced. Then try syncing the apps.
