Itunes can't update my version 4.0 to 4.3

hi,
i have a 3gs, connected to itunes (10.2 latest version) and prompted me to upgrade my phone firmware.
however, half way through, error message appear with code 3194 and unable to proceed further.
Anyone knows whats wrong and any way to rectify?

Error 3194 means that you are blocking iTunes (Apple) from verifying your restore. To fix this close iTunes and use the computer search function and find the "Hosts" file. Delete the lines in the Hosts that have gs.apple.com and then save the file and close it. Doubt you have to restart computer, but it wouldn't hurt. Then open iTunes and restore your iPhone. Now Apple can verify your restore.

Try updating your iTunes using an iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) installer file downloaded from the Apple website:

If doesn't work try use the instructions below BUT in BOTH folders, first in SourceList and after in the Media.
Start>Run put regedit and press Ok.
1. Go to the key: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products\9B00314CD581E574FBCE93FE37F2911B\SourceLis t\Media
2. Right click in Media folder, select Permissions from the menu.
3. You will see that is no user, on the "Permissions for..." dialog box which appears next, press the "Add.." button and add in the "All"
4. Back on the first "Permissions for..." dialog box, click on each account in the top-list and make sure each has the "Full Control = Allow" and "Read = Allow" permissions
5. Click the "Advanced" button and the "Advanced Security Settings" dialog box appears
6. On the "Permissions tab" enable the checkmark box named "Replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object", then press the "Apply" button
7. On the "Owner" tab, highlight the "Administrators" name in the lower listbox, enable the checkmark box called "Replace owner on subcontainers and objects" and press the "Apply Button"

Are you trying to use the auto updater? Forget it.
Download the update manually from the Adobe site to your desktop and run it also manually from there.

Print and follow the instructions from there.
The Adobe auto updater has been a piece of cr@p for years and years.

like I've said in the title I can't update to Photoshop version 2014.2.2
currently I'm on version 2014.2.1
the Updates option in Photoshop is grayed-out, and Adobe creative cloud app only show an update for Camera RAW and after doing that update it doesn't show an update for Photoshop itself.
any help ?

Is iTunes telling you that the current version is iOS 5?
I have never skipped an update and then tried to update to an "outdated" update - if that makes sense to you - so I don't know what happens if you update an older iOS device when there have been multiple updates released since the last time that you updated. I'm not sure if you get a choice as to which update that you want to use within iTunes.

Can't update iphone version/backup bc "HD full"

I haven't been able to update my iphone to new software version as an error message keeps displaying saying that hard drive is full and can't contain backup memory quota necessary. Since that came up I bought an external 500 GB hard drive that is only being used for this (i also changed destination drive under Prefs, then media folder) and iTunes will still not complete backup or update my version with same error message. Help please! Thanks!

Nevermind...I just took all the apps and music off my iphone and it updated real quick. Pain in the butt but it worked.

Can't update to version 1.3

I have an Ipod color 30gig. In itunes when I try to update to new ipod software version 1.3 I get a message saying unable to connect to ipod update server. My internet connectivity is ok, I can acess itunes store but unable to update to new ipod software verision...

I've a similar problem with my 30Gb 5th Gen in that I can't get it to update but I get the "unknown error 1417 has occurred". I've posted a topic today "HELP - iPod Update Problem". With any luck replies to my topic should be applicable to you tooand maybe we can get updated.

Can't restore new phone through backup without updating itunes, can't update itunes without deleting those backups.

I've got a big problem i'm hoping you guys can help with.
I recently updated my iTunes but now it refuses to open at all. I've googled this and it says that i need to just uninstall and then reinstall itunes, as the new 64 bit version has come out. My problem is this: I NEED the old itunes data that i have to sync contacts with my new phone. I made backup copies before my old iphone 4 crapped out, but i can't sync my new iphone with these copies without updating. however, i can't update without uninstalling everything and deleting my backups. see the problem here?

I understand that you need to update iTunes but you have concern for your information in iTunes. It is unlikely that any of your purchased or uploaded data would be affected affected by uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, but I would recommend making sure your iTunes library has been backed up. Your contacts are not stored in iTunes but rather in the contacts program of your Windows computer. Deleting and reinstalling iTunes will not affect your contact data that is stored in your computer.
Remove and reinstall iTunes and related software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8 - Apple Support
Media you've bought from the iTunes Store or songs you've imported from CDs are saved in your My Music folder by default. They won't be deleted by removing iTunes. Although it's highly unlikely that you'll lose any of your iTunes Library when following the steps below, first make sure that your iTunes library is backed up. See iTunes: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive for more information.
Steps
Remove iTunes and related components from the Control Panel.
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order. Then restart your computer.
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support
Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Don't uninstall these components in a different order, or only uninstall some of them. Doing so might have unintended affects.

You have the first gen ipod touch, released 7 years ago.
It can only go to 3.1.3.

ITunes can't update brand new iPhone 6 to iOS 8 1.1.

I had an iPhone 5 with iOS 8.1 installed and I just bought an iPhone 6+. I wanted to configure the 6+ using 5's backup but I got a message saying it couldn't be done because the the OS in 6+ was "too old" and asked me if I wanted to update it. I clicked on update and the problems began...
1) iTunes downloaded the new iOS version and automatically started updating my iPhone 6+ but it couldn't complete the process
2) I got a pop up window saying that my phone couldn't be updated and that it needed to be restored to its factory settings. Since the phone was empty (because it's new) I click on "restore and upgrade"
* The only options I got were "Restore and upgrade" or "cancel"
3) iTunes started "extracting software" and then installing it into the iPhone. It got the "verifying with Apple" and then the "Waiting for Apple" messages in the iTunes screen.
On the phone I got the Apple logo with the progress bar (empty)
4) I got a pop up window with the "your phone couldn't be restored - Error 6" message.
5) When I clicked OK, iTunes automatically ejected the phone (it disappeared from the upper bar) but the phone itself got stuck in the Apple logo WITH THE PROGRESS BAR (empty).
6) When I unplugged the phone from the computer I got the "connect to iTunes" screen and it got stuck there.
7) If I close iTunes and plug the phone again, I get the "restore and upgrade" message again but it fails at the same point.
This is what I've done so far trying to solve the problem:
a) I did the "restore and update" process at least 5 times (I lost count) without success.
b) I rebooted my computer and changed the USB cable to different ports.
c) I tried the whole "connect to iTunes, press and hold the Power button and the Home button at the same time, etc" tip but it didn't work.
NOTE: I have the latest version of iTunes and I'm connecting the USB cable directly to the computer, I'm not using a hub
I'm at my wit's end and I would really appreciate any advice '( you could give me. It's so frustrating to have a new phone and not being able to use it!

I just wanted to update this thread in case someone has the same problem.
I checked the firewall and antivirus and they weren't the ones causing the problems. The IT guy at my office checked the phone for me. Since he is the one who updates, fix, prepare the iPads used by some employees of the company, he has all the privileges in the system to download/update iTunes and iOS but he couldn't fix it either.
Then I took the phone to the authorized technical service and they couldn't fix it either. So I had to go back to my phone company and they had to give me a new phone. I was the unlucky person that got the defective iPhone But at least I was lucky enough to get a replacement immediately before they sold out.

IPhone no longer shows up in iTunes: can't update files, etc.

For some reason (and I don't think it's the USB connection... I've tried two) by iPhone no longer shows up in the iTunes window when I connect it to my MBP. Consequently, I can't update my Address Book, or anything like that.
Does anyone know what I can do to correct this? I've tried restarting the phone (a 3G, by the way, running the new OS)

If you move and rename the the iTunes folder you won't see any music in iTunes the next time you launch it. You can quit iTunes and rename it then put it back or leave it and launch iTunes while holding Option to choose the location of the iTunes library.

Can´t update to version 3.3.2 (Lion)

Hello,
While trying to update to version 3.3.2 and still running Lion I´m getting the following message:
"You have updates available for other accounts. To update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it."
I only have another admin-account, which I did not use for the purchase. But trying it with this account I get the same message.
What now?

For some reason I didn't, but following advice from another thread I reinstalled from the disk and then downloaded the 10.5.5 combo. The background for all this though was the Safari was crashing. I hope this solves the problem.
