Itunes cancels my CD burn

Hi,
This is not my first time burning a cd in iTunes, but fist error. I tried burning a CD of songs just now and it asks for the cd, i put it in, and it starts the initializing process, then says canceling CD burn. The cd is ejected and i get an error -50 "an unknown error has occurred" The tracks are less than 60 minutes all together, Its not the CD, because the FINDER can open the blank cd, I have used the same cds before in iTunes, i have tried multiple CDs , and TDK is a good brand.
The only think im not sure of is, that I'm trying to burn a song that i downloaded from itunes music store. It will be the first burn of that song however.
Thanks,
josh

I also have a Dell D630 with the latest version of iTunes. Everything was working perfectly until I downloaded an album from the iTunes store and burned it to CD. The CE burn was OK but now my iTunes is screwed up - it's transparent - I can see my background through it. The menus pop up OK but the rest is transparent.

  • ITunes cancels DVD backup

Here's my variation on iTunes for Windows failure to burn data backup DVDs.
I try to backup my smallish music library to DVD as a data disk but after iTunes initializes the DVD, it abruptly cancels the burn. An error message appears informing me I need to insert a disk that can be written to. I've tried a variety of DVD disks (DVD-R and DVD-RW) and different brands, but iTunes still fails to burn the DVD. I also updated the firmware for the drive on my Sony Vaio but this didn't solve the problem.
Any similar experiences or potential solutions?
    Thanks in advance.

To answer my own message, I updated to the latest version of iTunes 7.7.1.11 and used DVD-Rs manufactured by the same company that made the drive (Sony), and surprisingly I was able to burn a backup DVD.

  • HT203164 help! i am using itunes 10.6.1.7 and windows vista 64. itunes will no longer burn cds. i have searched online and tried all i saw that could possibly fix it and it is still not working.

    i have tried:
    reloading itunes
    unchecking 'write'
    removing lower filters in regedit
ensuring i had the correct 'gear' info in the upper filters in regedit
    removing 'gear' from regedit, system32
    reloading updated version of 'gear'
    cleaning my registery
    deleting itunes
    cleaning registry again
    reloading itunes
    cleaning registry again
i still cannot burn cd. t i can import and play cds in itunes and i can watch dvds. itunes will just not burn to blank cds, and i have tried sever new blank cds, each is not recognized.
i do not know what else to do, i have searched the internet and whatever i saw doable i tried.
when i check the cd drive in itunes i had gotten a 4220 error, cnet advised to download a free error fixer, however, this error fixer gave me and enduser message, so that didn't work.
the diagnostic for the cd burner read that i had to put in a formatted disc with content so i did and there are the results of that were that it read the cd and that the 4220 errir code was encountered last time there was an attempt to burn.
and 'could not open cd handler 32. there is a problem with the installation of the drive in windows or the drive contains a copyprotected cd.
the above is not the case as it also popped up for me to import cd to itunes.
i tried to copy and past the entire contents here but it would not allow me to paste.
    please help!

I too have only recently encountered this problem. I have been able to burn disks before but it keeps making all these weird sounds. It might be a hardware problem but the fact that everything else that uses a disk works I doubt it.

  • I got an error message while burning a cd in itunes - "The attempt to burn a disc failed.  The burn failed because of a medium write error.  What is that and how can i fix it?t

I got an error message while burning a CD in iTunes - "the attempt to burn a disc failed.  The burn failed because of a medium write error."  What does this mean and how do I fix it?

The disk you are using probably has a defect, not uncommon on consumer grade disks. Try another disk or better yet another disk from a different manufacturer or at least a different batch.

  • ITunes 7.3.1/Burning Data CD's or DVDs

I've been burning DVDs and CDs for a long time now through iTunes. But it seems that since I've updated to the new 7.3.1 verson of iTunes, I can't burn Data on either my Mac or my PC. For my Mac, it says that the burn speed is too fast. Even when I've lowered it to 1x. It won't burn at all. For my PC, I was able to burn DVDs for a brief time after I updated to 7.3.1 but now I get an error "the attempt to burn a disc failed. An unknown error occured (261)" I've been using the same DVDs and CDs for years and never had a problem. I also gave my co-worker a disc that failed in my machine and he was able to write on it with no problems.
My co-worker and I have the same PC and he is able to burn DVDs fine and he updated his iTunes as well. Does ANYONE have an answer for me? I'm stumped and there doesn't seem to be anything written up on this error.

I also had some trouble getting my point across the first time. I clearly explained that I know how to do a backup. I am writing to you about an ERROR MESSAGE, not a how to procedure. From that point on, they were quite understanding and they stopped talking down to me.
I had also written about the 261 error. Although they never gave me a solution, they did write a few times with some temporary suggestions.
At least they assured me that the backup errors were well documented and that a new version was being worked on. They even went so far as to tell me last night that the version was coming out today.
They obviously need a better way to communicate to the whole community, at one time, in one place. I was happy to get their ear and know someone with the ability to fix it, was fixing it.
As I said before, 7.2 will be on my computer for a very long time. It has everything I want and need and it works perfectly. That is MY SOLUTION. I have no desire to be an unpaid volunteer to test their software.
We all know that 7.3 had to be released, ready or not, to correspond to the IPHONE release. The wealth of error in the latest version are directly related and not a surprise.
    I wish you well.

  • HT1473 My iTunes just started not burning my playlists to a CD saying it needs to be reinstalled.  What is wrong?

My iTunes just started not burning my playlists to a CD saying iTunes needs to be reinstalled.  I do not  know how to reinstall with out that pop-up request.  I checked the latest version under help and I have the latest version.  I do not know how it could have created an error that will not allow me to burn my playlists to CDs.

    many thanks.
I'd start with the following document, with one modification. At step 12 after typing GEARAspiWDM press the Enter/Return key once prior to clicking OK. (Pressing Return adds a carriage return in the field and is important.)

  • IPhone ios5 crashes when syncing, iTunes cancels sync

    I updated my iphone 4 to iOS5.
    Since then, only problems.
My phone start syncing, then it crashes and itunes cancels the sync. My music is greyed out in the iphone music library and won't sync.
The pictures sync but the event key photos are not the same as in my Aperture.
This syncing problem is unacceptable. I wouldn't care waiting 6 more months for ios 5, but apple, please make things work! (i won't even get into lions' frustrations).

I found a way to get the music back on the iphone. But it's not perfect.
    1) I deselected all my playlist. (I use to only select and sync playlists)
    2) synced like that.
    3)  I selected all the artist I wanted and synced again.
The music synced on my iphone
    4) I then reselected the playlists and synced again, (My playlists are a mix of artists, genre and rattings)
But now i also have music I don't really want on my iphone.
Still have the problem with the events keyphotos that are not the same as my aperture keyphotos.

  • ITunes help needed for burning a CD

I can upload from a CD into ITunes and I can burn a CD using Roxio but when I try to burn a CD from iTunes, I receive an error message that my disk drive is not recognized.  The nomenclature for the disk drive is:  TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-H652M ATA Device.  The PC driver software for the CD drive is up-to-date.  I was able to previously burn CDs on this same equipment albeit an earlier version of iTunes.  Age of the PC is 5 years

Could you post your diagnostics for us please?
In iTunes, go "Help > Run Diagnostics". Uncheck the boxes other than DVD/CD tests, as per the following screenshot:
    ... and click "Next".
When you get through to the final screen:
... click the "Copy to Clipboard" button and paste the diagnostics into a reply here.

  • ITunes cannot find disc burner or software

I quit burning a playlist one song in, now the CD won't eject from my computer and iTunes tells me "disc burner or software not found". ***???

Reboot, manually eject the CD, repair permissions and see if it works. Generally on all macs interrupting CD or DVD burns and even in other applications, like Toast causes all manner of confusion. Let it finish next time even if you change your mind since the CD is ruined anyway.

You would call Apple Support, for which you would probably be charged for the support.
Note that just because those CDs work with your old computer doesn't mean that it's still not an issue with those CDs and the burner in your newer system. Some CD brands just don't work well with some optical drives. If you haven't tried a different brand, and if you're using CD-RW trying CD-R, I would suggest you give that a try just to eliminate that possibility.
    Regards.

  • Once I have paid for and downloaded itune songs, can I burn them to a cd

Once I have paid for and downloaded itune songs, can I burn them to a cd?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Try deleting the problematic file (electing to remove original file if/when prompted) and then re-downloading the file from the iTunes store.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option at the bottom of the screen of the iTunes app (or video app) on your iOS device.
If the problem re-occurs, select the content which is causing a problem and use the 'Report a problem' button in Your Purchase History using your computer.
Excellent choice of album by the way.
