ITunes cannot connect to iTunes Store. Make Sure Your Network is Active and Try Again.
Hi,
Every Time i open itunes, i get this error message. I know that i am not connected to internet, but some how i want to remove that error message. It's kind of pain in brain. Because when i work on other application, sometime's i want to listen songs, so i just press shortcut key(play/pause key) from keyboard to open the itunes, but everytime i have to click on the error message. So please if anyone knows how to avoid that error message or try itunes not to connect to itunes store automatically. Then please tell me how to do that.

Close your iTunes,

(Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset

Restart your computer.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now. -
Can Anyone help with this message which occurs when I am trying to update my iMatch, it says "gathering information about your library" & then after a few mins when the progress band gets almost to the end, I get the message "we could not complete your itunes store request. The network connection was reset. Make sure your network connection is active & try again"
Support has told me that its a problem with my connection, but I disagree, how come I can download countless songs from iTunes without ever getting this message, I think they are bullsh***g me to get rid of me.
I have even followed their advice & totally disabled all my antivirus, adwatch & firewall software & it still does it.
Can anyone help with thisHi mate, well I really dont know why but last night it started to work out of the blue, you might want to check yours again as they may have fixed a bug??
I did absoultely nothing different yesterday to make it start working, I had previously disabled all my antivirus, firewall, anti tracker etc etc & it didnt sort it.
The only thing that happened yesterday was my laptop went dead flat & I had to a reboot (dont choose System Resume, which I normally do) I chose the other option in error & had to wait nearly an hour whilst my PC "repaired files etc" & it also downloaded a load of updates (had that message "dont power off, as updates are in progress")
I really dont know if that sorted the issue or Apple fixed the bug yesterday but its working.
Good luck -
I keep getting this error message when I try to log into Itunes, has anyone else seen this error? If so how did you fix it?
Itunes could not connect to itunes store. The network connection timed out. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, and try again.Have you disabled any firewall and security/antivirus programs? This seems to have helped the vast majority of people who have posted the same problem in this forum.

when i try to open my itues it says "iTunes could not connect to the iTunes store. The Network connection timed out. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, and try again"
I am having similar issues except that the store starts to load, then stops, then I only get iTunes Store in gray letters on a white screen. I can access playlist and the other stuff. Like flamesgirl, I contacted them and they just keep sending me links of stuff to try which I had already seen on the Apple website and nothing works. I posted the question on another forum I belong to and one responder said her husband was in an Apple store and asked about this problem as he was having the same issue. They said an update would be coming out soon as they were aware of the problem. Who knows.

When updating to iOS 5.0.1. get the err -3259, thus unable to install new iOS. The message I receive goes: "THE NETWORK CONNECTION TIMED OUT. MAKE SURE YOUR NETWORK SETTINGS ARE CORRECT AND YOUR NETWORK CONNECTION IS ACTIVE, OR TRY AGAIN LATER."
Does anyone know how to solve this tiresome problem, please!?? The update is downloaded upto 723.5MB, and is required upto 723,6MB, then the error message pops out! Tnx.I have a quick wifi connection (Mac shows it as about 35 megabits) but I couldn't get the 5.0.1 OTA to work, I had to do it via cable to my computer's iTunes - and as I was already on iOS 5 it was only a small download, basically the same size as the OTA size.
As the original poster is talking about a 730 meg download then I assume that they are still on iOS 4.3.5 or below and can therefore only download via their computer's iTunes - you need to be on iOS 5+ before you get the OTA option. -
When updating each of my devices (iPhones and iPads) in iTunes, i always get the same error message
"there was a problem downloading the software for the iPhone "Mary's iPhone" The network connection timed out.
Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active or try again laterThis is common and there are literally hundreds of posts about this exact error.
Temporarily disable any Anti-Virus and Firewall software on the computer. -

Please check that the connection to the network is active and try again
downloading from the itunes store for the first time using my new macbook pro. I am able to log on and I'm able to search the itunes site. When I purchase a movie or song, the download is about to start and then I get an error message "there was a problem downloading" " movie or song name"." Please check that the connection to the network is active and try again". I know the connection is good, I can surf the web with no issues and I can also move around the itunes store with no issues. Only downloading seems to be an issue.

what do i do after downloading iOS 3.1 software and "There was a problem downloading iOS 3.1.1 software update for ipod touch. an unknown error occurred (8288). Please check that the connection to the network is active and try again." comes up?
Hello, I hope by now you have resolved the upgrade issue, but if not, here is what I ended up having to do:
“SUCCESS!!! I took my iPod to a friend who is a computer programmer/genius. He turned off his wireless, hooked the ethernet cable directly into his computer, and the download went through without a hitch. YAY!”
Here is my original post explaining what I had already tried:
“Hi all,
I got an iPod Touch 1st gen for my youngest son for Christmas as a starter. It has the 2.1.2 ios on it, but after I paid for the upgrade to 3.1.1, I keep getting an error message (8288) saying there was a problem with the network connection. I have called customer service, and they suggested I try on a different computer, and if that didn't work, try connecting to a different network, and then trying the update. None of this has worked. It seems that tech support is clueless with this issue.
I have installed and unistalled iTunes 10.5, 10.3, 10.4, and now I am back with 10.5. I have tried looking up the issue from several search engines but no one seems to have a universal solution and I have tried several.
I really want to have this thing updated for himw hwne he opens it, but I am starting to worry that my purchase was a bust. I know this is the oldest version, but I don't want to buy a newer, more expensive iPod and him still not be mature enough to really take care of it. As I said, this one is a starter.
Can anyone help? Please?!
Thank you!!!
P.S. We have a PC, with Windows XP Home.”
Now, there seem to be a lot of different ways to solve the 8288 error, none of which are universal. Best of luck getting yours upgraded!
Tiffany
P.S. The post by Sparkhi is a link to his blog going into a long story about how he wanted Apple to pay him for “solving” the issue….the one that apparently has been solved by multiple solutions. I’m not trying to bash, it just bothers me that he put up this whole story and finally, at the very end of his blog post, posts his solution. -
