"Itunes cannot connect to the internet" message is doing my nut

When I try and update 3GS, i get an error message claiming that Itunes cannot contact the Iphone software update server because there is no internet connection. Rubbish. I'm talking to you via internet arent I. Have tried altering LAN settings.
Any help appreciated

I don't use windows, don't you have a help folder...go there, enter firewall, look for how to disable...you can try to update with just your ant-virus disabled, but if your firewall is still active it most likely won't work.

  • Itunes Cannot Connect to the Internet At All

I did not have this problem before. now, my itunes cannot access itunes store, it can't get cd track names, it can't check for updates. I read in other topics about how the Internet Explorer 7 update caused this problem and how i have to install the Net Framework 1.1 for SP1. I did all that. I cleared my DNS cache. I disabled my firewall. No matter what i try, i always get the message "Itunes could not connect to Itunes Store. The network connection was terminated unexpectedly. Please make sure your connection is active and try again." Can someone help?

i am so dissapointed as i cannot use my i touch as i have to keep getting rid of i tunes as i cannot use the interent at all.
You don't need the internet to use iTunes.
Do you mean when you use iTunes, the computer will no longer connect to the internet?

  • ITunes cannot connect to the internet

"iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store. The network connection timed out."
"Home Sharing could not be activated because an error occurred (-3259)."
These are examples of error messages that I have gotten since downloading iTunes on my new netbook (Gateway LT21 with Windows 7 Starter). My internet connection is working fine. I have tried disabling Windows Firewall and Windows Defender, as well as making sure iTunes was allowed, and I uninstalled the Norton Antivirus trial that came with the computer. I have not been able to access the internet from any application (since I did a system restore?), and I only downloaded iTunes after that. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling it, but the same error messages show. I ran the computer in safe mode with networking, and the iTunes store seemed to work... Any suggestions?

Your Winsock providers appear to be OK.
Can you try these entries in command prompt (Run as Administrator for Win7/Vista) one at a time?
    ipconfig /release
    then
    ipconfig /renew
    restart computer
    ipconfig /flushdns
totally shut down computer then restart.
    netsh winsock reset all
    restart computer
Now test your iTunes again. If that does not work, uninstall your Antivirus program and test again.

  • Your Apple TV is connected to your wi fi network but cannot connect to the internet.  Airplay logo not available on ipad3, iPod touch3g and showing intermittently in iTunes on windows laptop.  Switched ISP a few days ago.  Entered pass key info on all.

I switched ISP a few days ago and had problems with airplay since.  After restarting and reinstalling and updating, re entering pass keys for new wi fi on everything,  Apple TV shows:  Your Apple TV is connected to your wi fi network but cannot connect to the Internet.  Ipad3 and iPod touch 3G have no airplay icon or get one briefly then it disappears again.  Same with itunes on windows laptop.
    Can anyone help?
    Bob

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.

  • HT4623 I keep getting an error message "cannot connect to the internet."  Is this a problem with my internet provider, or has anyone else had this problem.

I keep getting an error message "cannot connect to the internet."  Is this a problem with my internet provider, or has anyone else had this problem.

I get that problem once in a while and I will not be able to connect to the Internet with any of the 5 or 6 (or 7 or 8 ) web browsers that I use on my iPad. The one thing that I do that has never failed to work for me is to close all apps on my iPad and reset the device. I can't guarantee that it will work for you, but this works for me every time I get the server failed to load/can't connect to the Internet message.... Or whatever the exact message is.
If you have a ton of apps in the multitasking display, it can take a while to close them all, so you could just trey resetting the iPad first and that might be all that you need to do.
Closing apps in iOS 7 works like this. Drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

Try temporarily disabling your firewall and see if you are then able to access the iTunes store.

  • Cannot Connect to the Internet ?

So I am a new iPad user
    very new 3 weeks
It started this morning when I downloaded updates to some of my apps - I then sync'd it with my itunes on my windows vista pc...then i noticed that the iPad screen looked really heavily pixelated in some of the apps, that weren't normally pixelly
I tried restoring my settings on the iPad only, this did not delete my apps or data
then it asked me for my wifi password again, which I put in
I then tried to access the internet on safari, and through various other apps, I get the error message, "cannot connect to the internet"
I tried syncing it again this evening, and still nothing
I am not sure what to do....

    Have your:
    - Reset your iPad:
Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset network settings:
    Settings>General>Reset Network Settings
    - Powering off and then back on your iPad.

iam using iphone 4S with win 7 PC and i cannot connect to the internet through my phone but i tried with my other 4S and it works but what should i do for the first iphone 4S???

but i want to connect the first 4S with carrier TATA DOCOMO GSM but its not working with the same USB feature????
    plz reply asap...!!!
    thnxxx in advance!!!

    If not this:
iOS: Wi-Fi or Bluetooth settings grayed out or dim
One user reported that placing the iPod in the freezer fixed the problem.
    Also heating sometimes works. See:
Why can't I select my wifi settings?
A trick that works frequently with iPhones:
Settings > AirPlane Mode ON, Do Not Disturb ON
Power down and wait 5-10 minutes
    Power up
Settings > AirPlane Mode OFF, Do Not Disturb OFF
If not successful, an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is usually in order.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
    Then:
Does the iOS device connect to other networks? See other networks? If yes that tends to indicate a problem with your network.
Does the iOS device see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Switcher found "You are not connected to the Internet" message confusing

While demonstrating to my brother - a long-time Windows user - that an iMac solved all the problems with Windows XP that he is constantly complaining about to me, he saw Safari's "You are not connected to the Internet" message when the web server for the page didn't respond very quickly. (There wasn't any network problem, or anything wrong with Safari. MacOS or the iMac.) Clicking the 'Reload current page' button brought the web page up. He was angry, saying that the iMac was clearly connected to the Internet as he'd seen me plug in the network cable! He's using this as one of his reasons that "PCs are superior to Macs"!
While I think this is probably a bit of "I don't want to admit that I've been wrong" coming from him (his Windows system has been riddled with malware several times, despite him having kept up to date with Windows updates, using the Windows firewall, a broadband router with firewall, and having tried several anti-virus suites!), I must admit that he has a (limited!) point.
Couldn't the developers cause Safari to display the message "The web page you have requested is not immediately available, still trying - please wait." instead and then, if the web page cannot be displayed after (say) three minutes, and some kind of autromatic diagnostics show that the system still has a network connection, the message "That web page is apparently not available." Only if behind-the-scenes diagnostics show that the Mac has lost its network connection should one ever see the "You are not connected to the Internet" message, in my opinion.
    MacBook 1 etc   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I have the same problem; if I leave the computer on long enough (usually asleep overnight), when I wake it up, Safari will present the "You are not connected to the Internet" message for any page, and Mail will display the exclamation-point-in-a-triangle for all accounts that says it's offline. Yes, Software Update also complains of a "network problem."
Meanwhile, Firefox or SSH sessions via Terminal will work fine, and both network diagnostics and System Preferences claim that the machine is, indeed, connected just fine with an IP lease and everything. This is over a wired Ethernet connection, and, yes, I've tried swapping the cable between the Mac Pro's two jacks.
I'm a long-time Mac user. I've fixed disk permissions; I've flushed Safari's cache; I've done everything described here. Rebooting always fixes the problem -- but it then recurs when the machine has sat or slept for long enough.
Since Safari and Mail are both affected, while Firefox and shell connections are not, it seems fairly clear it must be a bug in some part of the OS relating to both those Internet products. It doesn't cripple the machine, but it's definitely inconvenient, which is not what I expect from Apple products.
