ITunes cannot contact the radio tuning service. How do I correct this issue (Window 7)? This error started 10 days ago, and has not corrected itself.
I have been using iTunes for over 10 years, and I have NEVER had this problem occur (repeatedly, all day long, every day). I have seen this error occur on occassion, but not consistently as it has been for the last 10 days. This is really getting me frustrated and quite upset, as there does not seem to be any reason for this error to be occurring. My internet connection is active (or I would not be able to list this here). I have gone through ALL of the troubleshooting topics, and nothing has worked to correct this problem.
I have uninstalled iTunes completely (as well as ALL supporting software, etc.) and reinstalled the program at least 10 times over the past 10 days. NOTHING IS WORKING as far as getting iTunes to "contact (or connect to) the radio tuning service".
Does anyone know what is causing this problem? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Please respond to me privately at [email protected]
Thank you.
It has not been working for me on any platform, any OS, anwhere since about last Friday. It has been reported many many times on this forum so I can only assume it's a known issue that will be fixed in time.
Interestingly some genres work, for instance Classical and Blues work but most others don't. I thought it was Apple's attempt to force some taste upon us but then I noticed sports radio works too. So much for that idea.
Also, if you have the playlist saved somewhere that still works too. It's only the "radio tuning service" that's borked.
By the way it's not a good idea to post your email address here, Apple Support Communities is secure from spambots but why tempt fate.

I have been listening to iturnes radion on my computer for months. now i get an error.
"an error occurred while contacting the radio tuning service. Check your internet connection, or try again later".
I have reset the cache but nothing seems to help. Any help???
55AnnieSomebody suggested clearing the Store cache. I don't know why that would affect the radio. Seems to have not worked for some, worked for a few or maybe they imagined it. Many other posts about this if you browse the forum.
This is happening to some people some of the time in some places, but then not affecting people in other places, or in the same place at different times. You try to guess what is going on. Hasn't happened to me. Maybe it's my iTunes 7.5, or maybe it's luck of the draw since I never use iTunes radio.

Question: I am getting this message from iTunes on my iMac:
An error occurred while contacting the radio tuning service. Check your Internet connection, or try again later.
Can't find a way to fix this. Does anyone have any suggestions?Yeaaaah... I just powered up my G3 iMac... iTunes 7 on there... My iTunes on there can't do much. But it's still subscribed to one podcast that's still valid and working. If I try to use the radio, I get this message. I wager they changed urls and the like in the background years ago and this is just so old there's no longer any support for it.

While Apple tries to figure out what's wrong I came upon a great workaround for those of us that like the radio feature of iTunes. This actually doesn't take long either.
When trying to expand the categories you get the error "An error occurred while contacting the radio tuning service. Check your Internet connection, or try again later." This happens enough to think that the service is completely broken. Actually, it seems intermittent. Try clicking it a few times. you WILL GET THROUGH. When you do get there, highlight all of the stations(or just the ones you want), create a playlist (I use the name of the category as I take the entire list), and paste into the playlist. You can then play the stations EVERY TIME from the playlist. Works perfectly.
It doesn't seem to have anything to do with what version of iTunes you have or what plugin you have. I have seen this on over 600 computers - Windows & MAC - and the workaround is 100%.
Let me know how you make out. And, PLEASE SHARE THIS FIX!!!Yes indeed, this workaround was posted a few days ago at https://discussions.apple.com/message/17739684

An error occurred while trying to contact the radio tuning service
I get this error message when trying to connect to the radio stations on itunes? "an error occurred while trying to contact the radio tuning service" My computer is definitely connected to the internet as I can stream from pandora and safari and mail work? Any suggestions?
I suggest you browse this forum. This issue has been going on for at least 3 days now. It happens to some part of the time, some for all the time, not at all to others.
It's not clear what the issue is, or where it lies. If it's something to do with Apple's servers they are not likely to discuss it. There was an issue like this a few months ago with the weather widgets and people kept on posting with no news until one day it suddenly started working, again with no news. If you wish to, you can report to Apple.

I need help in resolving a problem that prevents me from accessing the iTunes store. Message reads " iTunes cannot contact the iTunes store" and also says that my laptop is no longer authorized to access my account. Help!
Go up to the top of your screen on iTunes and click on 'Store'. Then go down to 'Authorize This Computer'. That should cover part of it unless you've already authorized a bunch of other computers to use your account. If that's the case, you'll have to go to one of those computers and click the button just below it to 'deauthorize your account' from that computer. If you're not able to access the store, check your internet connection to make sure you are connected. Hope this helps.. good luck!

I have been using iTunes for years to connect to the radio and just recently tried to tune in and an error sign pops up stating " A error occurred while contracting the radio tunning service. Check your internet connection or try again later." There's no problrm with my internet service so what's up?
You are probably using an old version of iTunes with which the stream link service seems to have stopped working for many users of older iTunes. No, Apple makes no comment about this kind of thing. It may reappear, it may not (it has been dead for over a week now). Your solution is to upgrade the operating system version on your computer from 10.5.8 to 10.6.8 so you can run a newer iTunes, or live without. You can still open streams if you can get the URL, and you can then save them as playlist items.
