ITunes cannot open HELP NEEDED!

Everytime I try and open it, it will say that it has encountered a problem and needs to close. I have used Windows Install Clean-up b/c it gets an error when uninstalling normally, deleted the two quicktime files in system32, manually deleted both the iTunes and Quicktime folders. But even after re-installing, it still gets the error. HELP PLEASE!!!!

Sorry about the extremely long delay.
If there's been a history of a QT Alternative or WinAVI on the PC, let's try the following check.
First open My Computer, and go "Tools > Folder Options". Click the "View" tab.
Make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is selected.
Make sure that "Hide filename extensions for known filetypes" is unchecked.
Click OK.
Now head into your C:\Windows\System32\ directory.
What files and folders can you see in there with "QuickTime" in the title?
(In a standard QuickTime install, the only such files in there should be QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx ... but a Codec Pack, QT Alternative, QT Lite or Storm Codec Install can sometimes drop a "QuickTime" folder in there containing sundry other "QuickTime" files. These can sometimes nterfere with subsequent QuickTime launches.)

  • "Itunes cannot open because it has detected a problem"

I upgraded to the new version of Itunes and now that I went to go open it I got a message saying "Itunes cannot open because it has detected a problem with your audio configuration" Can someone help me and if it is my computer how do I get an older Itunes.

First thing would be to try un-installing Quicktime, and then just re-installing the stand alone version of Quicktime. If you have a non-name brand sound card you may be beat. Apple has a hard time supporting the name brand cards, and does not seem to QA test any of the low end hardware.

  • ITunes cannot open files in the "MP3 Audio File" format

Lately I've been getting this error that iTunes can't open MP3 files. It happens when I try to double click on an MP3, however, if I click and drag the MP3 into my iTunes library it opens fine. Not a huge problem....just a nuisance.
    Running iTunes 10.0.1

I suddenly have this same problem with MacOS 10.6.7 and iTunes 10.2.2. Clicking on a tune in a folder gets the prompt "The document xxxx.mp3 could not be opened. iTunes cannot open files in the MP3 audio format."
Dragging the tune into iTunes will open it, so there's no problem with it being a "trouble file" that needs validating with some external app. I believe this is a new glitch that came with iTunes 10.2.2. It's workable but quite irritating when trying to manage an iTunes library that includes 28,000-plus songs.

  • Itunes cannot open mp3 files

I downloaded a zip file with mp3s.  I unzipped it and tried to add it to my itunes library.  I tried dragging files into itunes, tried opening file by double-clicking on it, using the file import feature in itunes - nothing works.  Also, I cannot open the mp3 files with windows media player or realplayer.  But the files look no different than other mp3s that I've previously downloaded from the same website.  Any ideas?

since downloading latest itunes cannot open itunes

    EDIT:
    Steps
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order and then restart your computer:
    iTunes
    QuickTime
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Important: Uninstalling these components in a different order, or only uninstalling some of these components may have unintended affects.
After verifying that iTunes is completely uninstalled, restart your computer and then download and install the latest version of iTunes.
If the issue you are troubleshooting is not resolved after following these steps, it is not necessary to remove and reinstall iTunes multiple times. Instead, you may find helpful information on the iTunes Support page, such as troubleshooting steps related to specific alert messages.
**try these steps, make sure you remove all components of itunes that it says and in that order specifically.
there are several other steps to try to solve the issue, but this is typically going to be the best option.

  • Itunes cannot open -50 error

I have looked all over this site for the -50 error and only found two answers niether which worked for me. I flat out can't open itunes, it simply gives me the itunes cannot open due to an unknown error (-50). It was working fine yesterday. What do I do?
    ibook g4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

UGH! OK I still have no music. I only have what's on my ipod and some old files but not my whole library. I have had this computer for almost 6 years now. For the most part it has been great but after calling the 1-800-apple number three days ago to be told they know how to fix my problem but will only tell me if they charge me $80, I'm pretty upset. I guess my apple care expired some 3 years ago. Well that's super infuriating. Back when I bought this G4 it was well over 3 grand. I don't think it would bankrupt them to tell me how to fix f-ing itunes. On top of it why did he rub it in by saying, we know your problem but will only tell you if we charge you $80! What kind of service is that? Man am I dissapointed.

  • Itunes cannot open at all

itunes cannot open at all after upgrading Itunes to 7.7. I have the newest version of IPod; I have tried to uninstall the program as well as deactivating the firewall. None of the measures have worked, is there any way to download a program to fix it?
any input would be very helpful

  • Recently updated ITUNES, cannot open it now, Please help

I updated Itunes last night. Now it will not open when I click on it. I have uninstalled it and reinstalled with the same results. Any ideas?

Same problem here - Click to open iTunes and an error box (grey with red X) pops up with the following message:
"iTunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing. Please reinstall iTunes."
Please help! It's doing my head in! Advice on other threads is to uninstall QuickTime and install the previous one (QuickTime 7). I did this and it has made no difference whatsoever; same error message pops up. An alternative solution is apparently to uninstall iTunes and then reinstall a previous version. I have not yet tried this - if i uninstall iTunes, won't i lose my music?!
Apparently this is a common error with Windows XP and Vista users after an update but it has never happened to me before.
    Can anyone help please?

So, I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes from the apple website. That did not help.
I've tried opening iTunes while holding option.  That did not help.
I'm not sure what else to try.  I've looked through the forums, but nothing seems to work.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

I can see a support item listed on my phone when I try to search the Help files, but when I click on that item, it gives me an error message, "Cannot oepn Help.  The file cannot be found."
I am trying to block telemarketer calls, and it looks like there is a way to do it.  Two help references come up - "Setting Options for rejecting calls" and "Blocking Calls."  I just can't access them.

Setting options for rejecting a call  By default, when you reject an incoming
call, the caller is sent to voicemail. You can
change this setting so that, in addition to
sending the caller to voicemail, a text
    message opens. This message contains
default text and is addressed to the caller
so that you can send the message right
away. You can also change the default text
    of the message.
1 Press Start and select Settings.2 On the Personal tab, select Phone .3 Select the Advanced tab.4 To turn on the text message feature, check the Reject call with text
    message box.
5 (Optional) To change the content of the message, select the text in the box and
enter the text you want.6 Press OK .

  • IPhone 3G 8GB Crashes when syncing with iTunes. URGENT HELP NEEDED.

I have latest iTunes and OS on my iPhone 3G...
Every time i plug my iPhone in it begins to sync and then iTunes will freeze and not respond..
I have tried re installing iTunes.. I can't reset my iPhone as i can't create a backup..
    URGENT HELP NEEDED PLEASE!

I don't have an iphone, but if it's anything like my click-wheel ipod, a reset doesn't delete anything.
It just resets the ipod's operating system, kind of like a PC restart. Did you try this Sleep/Wake button thing mentioned here?

That's all I got. You might have better luck on an iPhone forum. Everyone there would probably have one. Like I said, I don't.
