ITunes cannot process purchases

Hi
For the past few weeks, I have been getting the message:
"iTunes store is unable to process purchases at this time.
Payment processing is temporarily unavailable. You may continue to browse the store. Please try to make your purchase later."
I have £200 worth of vouchers credited to my account and cannot buy any of the stuff that I planned to. Can anyone suggest what I am doing wrong, if anything.
I am using a Mac with iTunes 7.3.1 (3)
Thanks

I would send an email to Customer Support, notifying them of the problem. Include the actual text of the error message you've been receiving.
It could be that the secure server from which credit card payment processing is handled may be down. But only Customer Support would be able to tell you for certain.
It doesn't sound like a user issue to me.
Steve

  • Got the update button...but no "itunes cannot process..."

I got the update button avaliable for the 2.0 update. I clicked the update button, clicked the learn more button, and the itunes page loaded up and timed out. However, I did not get the error button (the "itunes cannot process..." button) when it timed out. Is this suspicious, or am I just lucky that I didn't get the annoying popup that everyone's getting?

well my ipod is connected and its saying "A newer version of the software is available (version 2.0)To update your ipod with the the latest software click update. When I click update it says new software version available via itunes music store and would I like more information, when I click on Learn More, nothing.
It must be soon and I have been up for a few hours now and this new link was not there 2 hours ago.

  • App Store Genius - iTunes cannot process this request, try again later

Pretty much as above, using an iPhone 4 16GB, I go on the app store on wifi and it gives the above message. What can I do to get genius working?
    Thanks,
    Fred

I have had the same error message on my iphone4 since I bought it 3 weeks ago. I have done Restore, reset and rebooted the phone but no luck. 4 of my colleagues with iphone4 are having the same problem at my work.
Most probably its a bug that Apple wants to keep quiet about. Apple will take some action if all of us report this error using the link(hopefully!!!):

  • ITunes Store unable to process purchases?

I upgraded my MBP and iMac to Lion yesterday morning without any problems. I had updated all apps on both devices before proceeding. I also updated apps on my iPhone4, and iPad2 before doing the Lion install.
The MBP and iMac both work great with Lion. But by mid-morning yesterday, and without change since (i.e. about 23 hours), I have been unable to download new updates to apps on my iPhone4 or iPad2. I have tried to update each via WiFi. I have tried to update the iPhone with WiFi turned off. I have tried to connect by tethering to the MBP (both devices are registered on it) and getting the updates via iTunes.
I have checked and confirmed that I do not have a firewall problem and that the time and location is correctly set for each device.
When I try to download an app update via any of the bove methods, I get a pop-up message saying: The iTunes Store is unable to process purchases at this time." Which is followed by another pop-up saying "We could not complete your request. There was an error in the app store (100)."
Anyone have any idea what is happening? I've scoured the support articles without finding an answer.

    iMac 27 i7, MBP 13" (2008), iPad1, iPad2, iPhone4, some iPods.

Agreed, I don't think it is Lion, either. I suspect the problem is somehow related to the addition of 33 more App Stores (33 countries) and that has somehow borked the system. I now have a growing number of updates to apps on my iPad2 and iPhone that I cannot download. A few of them are important to me. I dare not even check my iPad1 as my wife uses it and would have a serious fit if anything caused problems on it.
More than 30 hours and counting...   All I have seen so far is an auto-mailer message which suggests I try everything I tried yesterday. Not a happy customer. Making it worse, we have Apple computers and iPads in the office, so unless this gets fixed I expect an uproar on Monday.

  • ITunes says it cannot process my request

Can sign in to my iTunes/mobile me/icloud account, redeem cards, etc., but when I try to purchase anything, tells me I need to set up security quetions. I get through the process to set up security questions, click done, and I'm told "iTunes/App Store cannot process your request at this time. Try again later." This is happening accross multiple devices over the past day.

    Hello kclark8503,
I apologize, I'm a bit unclear on the exact nature of the issue you are describing. If you are having issues updating or changing the information associated with your Apple ID account, you may want to try doing so directly from the Apple ID website, under "Manage your Apple ID":
    Apple - My Apple ID
On the other hand, if you are talking about changing or updating the billing information associated with your iTunes Store account, you may find the steps outlined in the following article helpful, including contacting iTunes Store Support directly if necessary:
Change or remove your payment information from your iTunes Store account (Apple ID) - Apple Support
    Sincerely,

  • Cannot access content within iTunes that was purchased on my iPhone!

When trying to access an album on my iTunes Library on my iMac that I have just purchased on my iPhone, I get the following error message...
This computer is already associated with an Apple ID.
You can download past purchases on this computer with just one Apple ID every 90 days. You cannot associate this computer with a different Apple ID for 79 days.
Apparently this required my Account resetting with Apple, but I do not know how to get this completed!

Do you have more than one AppleID, or was the computer used with a different AppleID with another user recently?
iTunes Store: Associating a device or computer to your Apple ID - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4627 -  In connection with, "When you turn on iTunes Match or Automatic Downloads, or when you download past purchases on an iOS device or computer, that device or computer becomes associated with your Apple ID." "Your Apple ID can have up to 10 devices and computers (combined) associated with it. Each computer must also be authorized using the same Apple ID. Once a device or computer is associated with your Apple ID, you cannot associate that device or computer with another Apple ID for 90 days." - Additional instructions for "Removing an associated device or computer from an Apple ID"
If somebody else used that computer with their AppleID in the past 90 days you cannot download past purchases from your account for 90 days.  You can, however, transfer your purchases directly from the phone to the computer.

  • The Mrs. and I are receiving "The iTunes Store is unable to process purchases at this time. Please try again later." message whenever we try to update apps or purchase new apps. This is on two separate iPhone4's running 4.3.3

I haven't updated the iOS this week because I'm still working on resolving a separate issue, syncing playlists back to iTunes from the iPhone after a Snow Leopard restore.
FWIW-- The Mac Store on my MacBook also returns a similar error message when I try to update pixelmator and evernote. I get "The iTunes Store is unable to process purchases at this time.  Credit card processing is temporarily unavailable. You may continue to browse the store. Please try to make your purchase later."
After that error in the Mac Store, I immediately get the following error message: "We Could Not Complete Your Request.  There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (100)"

Try contacting iTunes via email to check if there is an issue with the account. go to apple.com/support/itunes
Click on iTunes Store account and billing and select inquiries. On the right side click on "email us".
Before doing that trying viewing your account information first. Open the iTunes on you mac, look at the menu and select store and select view my account. Try removing the card (this is only applicable if you don't have a pending charges with iTunes) and hit done. Sign out, quit iTunes and sign back in and try updating the apps again.

Mostly because you are not using any capital letters or paragraph returns and your post is difficult to read.

  • Itunes cannot add any songs to the iphone because no songs in the itunes purchased can be copied to this iphone

What in the world is wrong when my purchased songs cannot be added to my iphone?  It seems random because many of them were transfered/synced but now some just won't sync.  But, then the error message: Itunes cannot add any songs to the iphone because no songs in the itunes purchased can be copied to this iphone.
I have the latest version of itunes
    Macbook ios has Mavericks 10.9.5
all other items (including other music) has been syncing correctly
THEN when I try to use another method to get the music (screen shot #1) it gives me the error message below (screen shot #2):
Why in the world would anyone want to remove all existing music just to sync the music?  How would I compare what is on my phone from what is on my macbook itunes to see what might be lost?  How do I get it to sync?

That usually means your phone was previously sync to a different iTunes media library.
by syncing to your Mac now, if want to wipe the data off the phone and sync it with the data currently in the iTunes media library.

  • 'The iTunes Store is temporarily unable to process purchases' when downloading an app on iphone 4s

App store on iphone 4s has been working fine, but I went on it today and was unable to update any of my apps or download any new ones. After clicking install or update, and asking for my apple id password, it came up with a message saying 'iTunes Store temporarily unable to process purchases. You may continue to browse the store, but please try your purchase again later'.
How long will this last for, and is there any way to solve it?
    Im from the UK btw

Me too, posted on Windows as well. Just tried again (8/5/08, 3:00 pm PST) and am currently downloading episodes 3 & 4, but now it doesn't recognize that I should be able to download episodes 1 & 2. Already bought 1 on another computer in the house to test firewall problem theory suggested by support.
Support hasn't arrived at any solutions, but they do respond and I ended up with 4 video credits, so I'm thinking I'll just re-buy the missing episodes and call it even.
I had the same problem with Mad Men season pass, got episode 1 as expected, can no longer get episode 2--has vanished as a waiting download.

  • HT1551 when trying to rent a movie from itunes the message says "itunes store unable to process purchases try again later". Is this usual or am I doing something wrong

when trying to rent a movie on my new apple tv, a message comes up: "itunes unable to process purchases at this time. Try again later"  Is this usual or is something going wrong?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
If you use the Apple TV for something else or turn it off it will erase whatever is on it's drive. If you are going to download content for later viewing you might consider doing it on the computer, downloads don't disappear until they expire and you can watch them as many times as you want.
