ITunes cannot recognize iPhone/iPad via WiFi Sync following motherboard change

Hi folks,
I'm having a problem with synchronising my iPhone (and iPad) to iTunes on Windows 7 Home Premium via WiFi sync.
This never used to be a problem - both devices would be identified by iTunes (occasionally this was sporadic, however a simple WiFi off/on would usually solve the problem).
I have recently upgraded my motherboard and CPU in my Windows 7 PC and after updating some drivers, etc. all of a sudden, I cannot connect to WiFi Sync anymore. I can still synchronise my devices via the cable - i.e. the devices are correctly identified by the PC, but for some reason post the motherboard change, as soon as I pull the plug out of the device, the device disappears from iTunes.
I can confirm that the "Synchronise this device via WiFi sync" tick boxes are checked, and the Machine Name is the same, so my iPhone is still looking for the same PC.
I'm wondering if because of the motherboard change, there is an internal signature that the iPhone/iPad looks for that is no longer the same.
I have tried uninstalling and re-installing iTunes to no avail. I cannot seem to find any solution to this problem - no matter what I do, iTunes will simply not recognise my devices over WiFi anymore.
Welcome any advice or thoughts.
System details:
- Intel i7 2700K (Upgraded from Intel i3 550)
- ASUS P8Z68-M Pro (Upgraded from an ASUS P7H55-M/USB3
- iPhone 4S
- iPad 2
- Windows 7 Home Premium
Cheers,
Mike.

Folks,
I thought I should post a follow up - in case any Apple Support people scour these forums.
The problem seems to have resolved by itself, which is both a good and bad thing.
I made absolutely no changes last night, not even a system reboot, to launch iTunes today and the system miraculously discover both my iPhone 4S and my iPad 2. I think this highlights a broader problem is that the WiFi sync capability is inconsistent and very difficult to troubleshoot. I have no idea why it has all of a sudden started working, especially when I have changed no wireless, networking, firewall or Anti Virus settings.
Anyway thank you to those who had a read, and I wish I could provide more insight on why it has started working all of a sudden, and importantly, what caused it to stop working.
Perhaps it is simply like two people - the new PC and its motherboard needed to 'get to know' the devices before it felt comfortable in allowing a connection .
I have no other more rational explanation!
Cheers all,
Mike.

  • How do I send music from my computers iTunes to my iPhone 4 via wifi?

I was able to send music via wifi to my iPhone 4 but now I can't.  Sync over wifi is checked when I directly plug my iPhone into the computer. But once I unplug it my iTunes can't find my iPhone when I connect to wifi.  And both my computer and iPhone are on the same wifi.

You don't send it back to the cloud since it never left the cloud.
You can delete indovidual songs from the iPod, or if all music is available in your iTunes library on your computer, you can remove the music from your iPhone via the iTunes sync process.

  • ITunes DID detect iPhone 4 via WiFi but now it does not.

Hi! Sorry for the 2 questions in a week but I'm just not sure what to do here.
I recently downloaded the remote app for my iTunes library (Windows) and set it up fine. (Both computer and iPhone are on my school's wireless network). Then I put my computer on hibernate and walked to another location, and it will not detect my iPhone anymore. I've tried resetting network settings, reconnecting again and again and for the life of me, my Phone will not show up under iTunes's devices tab on wifi. I even tried creating an Ad-Hoc network and it didn't seem to work.
Am I missing something? Any ports that need to be opened? I'm very confused by this. Thanks for any help in advance.

Gave it a look, tried all the troubleshooting. My IP addresses are the same, so now I really don't understand. I'm just super confused. If it hadn't ever worked, I would just write it off as my university network being too strict... but now that it has worked once and really... nothing changed... I am just very confused.

  • Itunes cannot recognize iphone 4

Everytime I need to do the following to connect my iphone 4 with iTunes.
    1. Run command prompt as Administrator
    2. Execute a command 'Netsh winsock reset'
    3. Restart the system
I am using Windows 7 SP1 in my laptop. iPhone is using iOS 5.0.1.
Even about a month back I could connect the iphone normally with iTunes.
Not sure if the updated iTunes is the culprit. I tried to remove and reinstall the program but no success.
To check my iPhone I tested it in a MAC. It works absolutely fine.
I tried to find solution through many forums but couldn't make any headway.
    Please help

Right mouse click iTunes icon, select Properties, then 'Compatibility' tab, check the box 'Run as Administrator'.
After netsh winsock reset, you may get a prompt after restarting windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
However, if you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

  • Hello! i tried to install OS5 in my 1st gen IPAD (16gb) and it froze in the process. My IPad still runs normally (on OS 4) EXCEPT itunes cannot recognize, sync or even charge my IPad!

hello! i tried to install OS5 in my 1st gen IPAD (16gb) and it froze in the process. My IPad still runs normally (on OS 4) EXCEPT itunes cannot recognize, sync or even charge my IPad!

That's one of the weird things.. it recognizes it maybe 10% of the time. And usually, only after I do the two-button reset. Problem is.. since it won't charge above 2%, anytime I try to do a restore or anything like that using iTunes, my device shuts off and I lose whatever progress I'd made.
So, an update... after reading through a bunch of similar complaints (there are literally 1000's of them so there's NO WAY this isn't somehow ios7 related, thanks a lot APPLE ) I decided to try a restore in recovery mode. After 3 hours and several disconnections... I ended up having to just set it up as a new iPad, as the restore did nothing. Weirdly though... as I was doing the restore in recovery mode.. I noticed I'd gotten up to a 10% charge.. higher than it's been since September, so after setting it up as a new device, I turned it off and plugged it in using the wall charger. 2 hours later and I was up to 38%. Still not great, as my iPad, before ios7 could've fully charged twice in the amount of time it took for me to now get 28% more of a charge. And that's with a fully cleaned out device.. so that really ***** and I'm now more confused than ever.
But I'm gonna leave it overnight charging and see what I come up with tomorrow. Sadly, when I paid $600 for it in February, I never expected to have to play "wait and see" with it...

  • IPad Air wifi sync a lot slower than iPhone 5s?

I just got my new iPhone 5s yesterday and found out that its wifi syncing to itunes is a lot faster than the iPad Air I bought a few days ago. Actually iPad Air wifi syncing is so much slower than iPhone 5s, almost half speed, just as slow as wifi syncing with my iPhone 4, is this normal?
I've tested another iPad Air of my friend, and found out that his new iPad is as slow as mine. Anyone know WHY? Is there anything / settings we're missing?
I have the latest AirPort Extreme as wifi router.

What version of iTunes is on the computer? You need at least 11.4.

  • Connect to computer to refresh iPad 2 wifi sync 7.1.1

Not a question as much as a suggestion.
I recently began syncing my iPad 2 via wifi using iTunes and my iMac.
I apologize for not getting the precise wording of the prompt which appeared on my iPad 2 screen during the install of IOS 7.1.1, but it went something like:
'Connect to computer to refresh iPad 2 wifi sync'
I did as I was prompted and as I recall after connecting my iPad 2 to my iMac there were on-screen prompts which had to be answered in order to proceed with the operation, something like 'Trust the computer to which the iPad is connected?' and a similar prompt on my iMac's monitor. After answering both in the affirmative the operation was completed. A few seconds later I get another iMac alert to the effect that the sync could not complete because the iPad could not be found, or words to that effect. Initially I had this sinking feeling, wondering what else might go wrong so I began to click the tabs / buttons at the top of my iTunes iPad 2 interface to discover that my photos seemed to be missing, etc.
It's easy to over-think a situation like this and while I do not profess to be any sort of an Apple guru, I have been a Mac user since the release of the very first Black and White Mac Classic which is to say I have owned and operated my share of Apple 'devices' over the years and have found that sometimes the most effective 'fix' for a problem is to do nothing at all EXCEPT to restart, so that's what I did. I quit iTunes and while it wasn't running I restarted my iPad 2. After my iPad was completely up and running I re-opened iTunes and eureka! Problem solved.

I guess "a reboot" might have been a little ambiguous, but I meant that I restarted OS X (10.8.5, iTunes 11.1, iPad on 5.1.1, iPhone 3Gs on 6.1.3, iPhone 5s (originally not showing up) on 7.0.2).
Prior to that I had rebooted the iPhone 5s a couple of times, connected via cable and toggled WiFi sync settings a few times, restarted iTunes a few times, attempted to "Sync Now" from the iPhone 5s (connected to power and not) a few times. None of these actions had any apparent effect.
I also renamed the iPhone 5s, which originally had the same name as the 3Gs, but that didn't appear to make any difference either, and probably isn't at all problematic, nor is it part of your scenario.
The only other thing I did that might have been related was to assign the iPhone 5s a DHCP reservation on the router, which the other devices already had, effectively giving it a fixed IP. But, even that appeared to make no difference. It was only after I restarted OS X that it showed up. The iPad showed up first, and fairly quickly, the iPhone 5s, finally, after a delay of maybe a minute or more.
The OS X restart was almost certainly the first restart after installing iTunes 11.1, so it's possible the install wasn't able to take care of everything it needed to w/o the restart.
Your "Automatically sync..." option is probably disabled because you have the "Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing automatically" option (iTunes Preferences/Devices) turned on. My "Prevent..." option is unchecked and "Automatically sync..." is checked, as well as having "Sync ... over WiFi" checked.

  • Itunes 11.1.4.62 breaks wifi sync

WiFi sync has been working fine here for years.
Installed iTunes 11.1.4.62 and it no longer works properly.  Sometimes I can get it to do a backup and calendar/contact sync okay.  I cannot get it to do an apps sync anymore.
What I see on the screen is that iTunes initially recongizes my iPhone 4s.  When iTunes fails, it says it's looking for my iPhone, can't find it, and deletes it from my devices list.
I tried completely uninstalling all Apple software and reinstalling.
iTunes syncing via USB works fine.
When iTunes disconnects from WiFi, I can still ping my iPhone so there isn't a network issue.
Environment is Win 7 64 bit.
BTW, I have the WiFi photo app installed, and I can connect to the iPhone via WiFi to transfer photos using this app even when iTunes is failing.  So I think this is strictly an iTunes problem.

Same thing here.  I finally got wifi sync working again by downgrading to iTunes 11.x.2 .
The trick is to make sure you remove all components of apple first.
Apple software updater, App support, Mobile device support and bonjour.
    Then reinstall 11.x...2 .
    On another note:
Not to further antagonize the issue but I wish whoever makes itunes over there sees this and gives users a easier way to go back to iTunes 10.7 or fixes these wifi sync issues for good and brings back some of the nice features like coverflow from iTunes 10.

  • Ipad is disabled connect to itunes but i connected it and there was a popup saying itunes cannot connect to ipad because it is locked with a passcode. You mus enter the passcode on the ipad before it can be used with itunes. but i couldnt enter my passwor

my ipad is disabled and it said ipad is disabled connect to itunes but i connected it and was restoreing it and then there was a popup and it said itunes cannot connect to ipad because it is locked with a passcode. and you must enter the passcode on the ipad before it can be used with itunes. But i couldnt even write the passcode on my ipad cause it was disabled. What should i do now????

Follow the instructions on this page to reset your iPad : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212
Note: If iTunes asks you to enter the passcode, try another computer that you have synced with. Otherwise, go to "If you have never synced your device with iTunes, or you do not have access to a computer" section below.
If you have never synced your device with iTunes, or you do not have access to a computer
If you see one of following alerts, you need to erase the device:
"iTunes could not connect to the [device] because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on the [device] before it can be used with iTunes."
"You haven't chosen to have [device] trust this computer"
If you have Find My iPhone enabled, you can use Remote Wipe to erase the contents of your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased.
Alternatively, place the device in recovery mode and restore it to erase the device:
Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to shut down.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
iTunes will alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then restore the device.

    Wi-Fi Setup Considerations
Things to consider before you begin
Start with a plan for the physical layout. Depending on whether you have an existing Wi-Fi network, or if you are using your AirPort Express as a standalone Wi-Fi device, there are several options available for you to choose from.
When using Ethernet, Cat6 cable is recommended.
The layout you choose should take into account environmental factors such as physical access, location, range, radio frequency interference, etc.
You will need to consider what AirPort Utility settings to adopt.
You will need to know whether you are using an AirPort Express (802.11b/g) or an AirPort Express (802.11a/b/g/n).
If you will be using more than one Wi-Fi base station, it may be helpful to read the article Extending the range of your wireless network by adding additional Wi-Fi base stations.

  • My iphone will not wifi sync

Im trying to get my iphone 5 to wifi sync with my macbook pro but its not doing it
I have tried everything i can think of:
    -iphone is plugged in
    -itunes is open
-itunes(when phone was plugged in) is checked for wifi sync
-the apple ID's are the same
-they are connected to same wifi
The weird thing is that when i remove the usb cable, after my phone is plugged in, the device disappears which im pretty sure isnt supposed to happen. If i go to the top bar > devices i can see the name of my iphone but its greyed out and unselectable.
If im using a school network(which requires a login) would that affect the sync even though the phone and laptop are both connected?
CAN ANYONE HELP ME FIX THIS???
