ITunes cannot run because it has detected a problem with the audio config.

I didn't make any audio changes, but since I startet up my laptop the last time there occures allways a warning pop up when I'm trying to open iTunes. The pop up contains the following message: "iTunes cannot run because it has detected a problem with your audio configuration".
And there is just the possibility to click the "close" button on the pop up.
So now uninstalled and re-installed the newest version of iTunes, but this didn't solve the problem. I allso searched through the audio settings in the control panel area. But I dind't find any false settings, or maybe I just don't know where the problem is.
Does someone know what the problem could be. Or did someone have similar problems and found a way tosolve it?
Could it be possible that another audio program such as winamp media player creates a problem for the startup of iTunes?
Thanxx a lot for any helpfull replies, cheers sal

typically, that error message is caused by a problem with your QuickTime. (itunes uses QuickTime for audio and video playback.)

  • ITunes cannot run because it has detected a problem with your audio configu

I just upgraded through the auto upgrade feature and, whilst iTunes was working perfectly before the upgrade it now refuses to start, displaying a dialog box with
"iTunes cannot run because it has detected a problem with your audio configuration".
Now, given iTunes was working perfectly beforehand what has caused this? I've tried restarting the PC, reinstalling the new iTunes from a fresh download, deinstalling and reinstalling the new version to no avail. I have now tried to reinstall the old version and I get the same error message.
System is a WinXP / AMD64 / 2Gb RAM with an Edirol FA-101 firewire audio interface (still replays sounds via Windows Media player so it's not that!)
    Anyone got any ideas?

  • ITunes cannot run because it has detected a problem with your audio conf

Yesterday iTunes worked, today it does not. Now every time I try to start iTunes I get the following error:
"iTunes cannot run because it has detected a problem with your audio configuration"
I have not made any changes or installed any new applications.
I reinstalled iTunes and still get the same error.
Windows media player works fine. I am running XP/

I had that SAME problem and didn't change anything either.
I have XP sp2. The only change that may have been made was an automatic software update because I added Apple as a trusted source.
I uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled it and now a large portion of my songs do not work. It is a random selection of them, by various songs and artists.
What does seem strange is they all have a the same last modified date. I went through my iTunes and deselected every song that doesn't work and then sorted by date.

They all have the same date. A system restore to a previous date doesn't solve the problem.
Does anyone know if this is solvable. I refuse to lose 40 bucks worth of songs.

  • ITunes cannot run becasue it has detected a problem with your audio config

Ok, so i've been running iTunes since March and have had no problems with it, until today. I get the message "iTunes cannot run becasue it has detected a problem with your audio configuration" now. There have been no changes that I have done to the PC. Dell has no info on this matter and I'm just hoping that someone out there may have an idea. Any help would be great.

  • ITunes cannot run because it has detected a problem with audio configutatio

I cannot open itunes at all. I keep getting the above message. I have checked my "sound, speech, audio" in the control panel and the only option in the default drop down is "Intel intergrated audio"
iTunes has worked fine for several years, so I am not sure what happened. The icon is still on the screen so it hasn't totally deleted.
How do I begin fixing this? Thanks in advance.

Yes, actually I did try that (sorry I forgot to mention that) about 2 weeks ago. I put my itunes library and folder on my desktop, deleted quicktime and re-installed as per instructions.
I am still getting the same error message. Did I miss a step or do I need to do something else?

  • ITunes cannot run because it has detected a problem. . .

I have used iTunes for years but now when I open it up I get the following error message:
"iTunes cannot run because it has detected a problem with you audio configuration"
My sound works with every application so I'm a bit confused as to why it won't run.
    Please help!
    Cheers

This is usually fixed by removing Quicktime and putting it back with a repair install of iTunes:
Completely uninstall Quicktime (NOT iTunes) using the method in this article:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93698
    Turn off antivirus/anti spyware
Go to Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs>Change or Remove Programs
Select iTunes, then click on Change, then select Repair.
    Restart computer
If you prefer you can install the stand alone Quicktime instead of the repair install (second option in this link):

  • Latest upgrade issue "iTunes cannot run because it has detected a problem..

I just upgraded iTunes today, and now it will not open.
My error message is: "iTunes cannot run because it has detected a problem with your audio configuration."
Any ideas? I don't even know what version I currently have b/c I can't open it. Never had this issue before today.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
I had this issue on an eMachines desktop not too long ago. First, reinstall QuickTime.
Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs
Find QuickTime, click on it and click Remove
    Complete the uninstaller
Go here to download the new QuickTime:
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
This resolves this error in most cases. In my case, I also needed to update the driver for my PC's sound card, through the Device Manager.
    Hope this helps,

  • Satellite U300-13U - iTunes has detected a problem with the audio config

Please can someone help me? I've got a U300-13U laptop and have just installed iTunes on it. However, when I open iTunes I get an error message saying that "iTunes has detected a problem with the audio configuration and may not play properly" That's an understatement - it doesn't play at all!
I've uninstalled, reinstalled both iTunes and Quicktime but to no avail. I've searched and exhausted the iTunes support boards but got nowhere either. The sound is fine as I can play CDs with no issues at all. The only suggestion that I can get is that there may be a problem with audio device not liking Apple and vice versa.
Does anyone have ANY idea at all as to what might be going on here? I'm completely out of my depth, I'm just a simple girl who wants to play her music!!!
    Thanks ever so.

    Hello
I dont use iTunes so Im not an expert with this player but first of all you should give us some important informations:
    - What OS do you use?
    - Are you using the factory settings (Toshiba recovery disk) or your own Windows version
    - Do you have yellow exclamation marks in device manager?
Ok, iTunes told you that there is a audio configuration problem so did you try to update the sound driver? If not, you should try it.
Check the Toshiba website for an update and see what happens. Then post your result:

  • ITunes cannot run because it has detected audio configuration problem?

I've got Windows XP, recently did a system restore and was forced to re-install iTunes afterwards. After installation, I click the iTunes icon and get a pop up "iTunes cannot run because it has detected a problem with your audio configuration." I went to the iTunes support page and found a similar trouble shooting scheme. I applied both options and both failed. I tried re-installing again to repair, but after the repair, the problem still remains. I found a major difference in the trouble shooting scheme however and I wander if that could be it. The web page shows quick time's audio channels as "Stereo (L R)", however my quick time control panel doesn't feature that channel. Instead, there are 7 "LayoutTags" to choose from, each containing 7 digits. I'm no computer whiz, so I'm going to need help on this one.

hmmmmm. it's sounding like you've still got a damaged version of QuickTime in the PC. (or at least, there's something going wrong with the quicktime.)
let's try swapping out the QuickTime again. we'll take a few additional explicit precautions this time.
Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. then use it to clear any existing QuickTime installation configuration information from your PC:
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
Next, we’ll manually remove leftover program files and folders.
    1. On the Start menu, click My Computer (or double-click My Computer on the Desktop).
    2. In My Computer, open Local Disk.
    3. Open Program Files.
    4. Right-click on the QuickTime folder and click Delete from the shortcut menu.
    5. Navigate to C:\Windows\system32\.
    6. Remove the files QuickTime.qts and QuicktimeVR.qtx.
    7. Restart your computer.
next, we'll try to get a fresh copy of QuickTime into your PC by doing a repair install of itunes.
switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the repair install.
go into Add/Remove and select itunes. click "Change" and then click "Repair".
if the repair install goes through okay, restart the PC and try launching itunes again. does it launch properly now?
if it doesn't launch properly, are you still getting the unusual display effects in the QT preferences?

  • ITunes cannot run because it has detected problem with audio configuration

Hello! I am currently in a russ with my iTunes. When I try to open it, it gives me the message:
iTunes cannot run because it has detected a problem with your audio configuration.
I'm not sure what this means. I haven't changed any settings on my computer since the last time iTunes ran. Is there anyone that can help me? Thank you!

I am also having the same problem. I have followed the procedures on the link page numerous times. It will work and I think I have fixed the problem and then it the problem starts again. I have uninstalled/reinstalled itunes and quick time, reverted to an earlier version of itunes, etc all to no avail.

I upgraded to the new version of Itunes and now that I went to go open it I got a message saying "Itunes cannot open because it has detected a problem with your audio configuration" Can someone help me and if it is my computer how do I get an older Itunes.

First thing would be to try un-installing Quicktime, and then just re-installing the stand alone version of Quicktime. If you have a non-name brand sound card you may be beat. Apple has a hard time supporting the name brand cards, and does not seem to QA test any of the low end hardware.
