"itunes cannot run due to missing required files"

it says that and ive download different verisions and forms of itune...HELP!

This error has been associated with spyware terminator blocking certain files.
It might be worth disconnecting from the internet and then disabling all antivirus/ antimalware programs and your firewall and see if that allows the install to go through properly.
If that's not it, this error has been associated with maleware, try a free scan with malwarebytes:

The site has a very helpful forum if the scan finds something.

  • Itunes 6.04 cannot run due to missing required files

    Hi there,
I have just installed the new Itunes 6.04, and after installation, there is an error message "iTunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing. Please reinstall iTunes."
I have search through the Forum and did exactly everything suggested there:
    1) Uninstall iTunes, uninstall QT (using the normal Add/remove programs within the control panel) and then clean up all directories manually, reboot and then reinstall again. Not working!
    2) Download Window clean up and clean the iTunes and QT, the reinstall iTunes, not working!
    3) Uninstall QT, uninstall iTunes, install the QT standalong version, install iTunes again, not working!
I am running out of opinions. Maybe I will try to uninstall everything, and then use Regedit to delete anything that is iTunes related registry. Does anyone has a better opinion? or, is it anyway I could check which file(s) are required?
    Many thanks,

Please be careful when editting the registry. Its a good way to really screw your PC up. I would suggest exporting your registry before any large scale edits. Beware the registry file will be huge.
As for your problems, when you uninstalled everything and rebooting after each uninstall. After you got QT installed from a standalone, did it display a video to verfiy it worked? Did you reboot afterwards before trying to install itunes? Also I didn't see it mentioned but make sure you turn off virus and firewall during your install.
I just noticed you are from Germany, when installing what language are you selecting? Also what language is your PC set to?

  • I'm getting a message that says itunes cannot run b/c some required files are missing.  Please reinstall itunes.  I'm scared to, I don't want it to replace my current itunes and lose all my music!

I'm getting a message that says itunes cannot run b/c some required files are missing.  Please reinstall itunes.  I'm scared to because I don't want to lose my music.

Reinstalling iTunes simply replaces the application.  It shouldn't affect your media.  You do have backups, right?

  • ERROR MESSAGE: iTunes cannot run because some of required files are missing

I don't know how this happened but it all started when my friend was trying to send me songs from his iTunes thru Yahoo Messenger. I tried saving the songs to iTunesminiplayer.dll and iTunes.dll. Then I tried opening iTunes after that to see if maybe the songs would appear on my library. So then I discovered that iTunes won't open anyomore.
The error message suggested that I reinstall but I'm scared that all my files would be deleted if do that..
    What should I do?

  • ITunes (11.3 64bit) cannot run because some its required files are missing. Please reinstall iTunes.

just set up my new laptop lenovo x240.
    Windows 7 SP1.
    itunes 64bit 11.3
first install went fine. then I tried to move my preexisting library. the library did not show the apps. so I tried around. Treid to re-install itunes.
Since I did, after the re-install, iTunes gives me the error message "iTunes cannot run because some its required files are missing. Please reinstall iTunes."
I tried the  -_> link: Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
unfortunately it did not resolve. please, advise... I am quite desperate... and surprised this is happening, since I am on a clean corporate laptop.
perhaps, can someone also steer me to a corner, where I can deactivate the cloud install pop-up ones starting iTunes?

  • Cannot open iTunes after upgrade due to missing .dll file

I cannot open iTunes after a recent upgrade.
The error is "Applepushservice.dll is missing.  Please reinstall iTunes."  Which I have now done 8 times.
I have uninstalled everything, clear the cache and rebooted.
Now what?  Can I download the file from somewhere else and if so, where do I install it?
    Many thanks.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

  • ITunes cannot run because some of its files are missing.  Please reinstall.

Let me join the crowd of people voicinng about problems with iTunes 7.5. The above is what I get for an error message when I try to open iTunes. I tried to reinstall (selecting 'install damaged or missing files' when prompted) and had no luck.
Looks like others are not having any luck uninstalling iTunes completely and reinstalling. Should I try this or just wait for a fix from iTunes? Before I uninstall, could someone reassure me that doing so won't wipe out my music files?

Uninstall should not affect your music, however it is a good precaution to save a copy of your library files, iTunes Library.itl and iTunes Music Library.xml which are in your iTunes folder.
A lot of people have found that downgrading Quicktime solves your issue, have you tried that?
Uninstall Quicktime using the method in this article(just QUicktime):

You can download the previous QUicktime from here:

"iTunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing. Please reinstall iTunes."
Is the error message I receive when trying to launch iTunes or updating my iPod.
I have tried uninstalling both iTunes and qtime, restarting, installing with the iTunes75Setup.exe found on the iTunes download page from apple.com.
To help narrow the issue, during install/uninstall/repair this error also occurs as it is "Registering iTunes automation server"
any suggestion on how to resolve this issue would be great

First uninstall Quicktime 7.3 only in control panel. Then download Quicktime 7.2 from http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/quicktimeforwindows.html. Hopefully it works for you because it worked for mine.

  • ITunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing.  How

I have tried the "repair" option to fix my "iTunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing error message."  No luck.  I have rebooted.  No luck.  I am afraid to reinstall iTunes.  I have already lost my music once when I fried my computer.  I don't want to have to purchase my music AGAIN.  Is this really the only way to fix this?  Do I have to uninstall before I re-install?

There are a few ways to fix this. For me, going to add/remove programs and then clicking on itunes, CHANGE, then REPAIR worked. I was also getting an issue that after a few days or a reboot, it would kill itself again..
Others have to completely uninstall itunes and quicktime, erase their program files directories, then reinstall quicktiem first then itunes.
Others have to uninstall itunes, go to internet explorer and clear the recent downloads and the cache, then close ie, redownload, and then install itunes.
    Good luck!

When I try to open iTunes, it stalls for a few seconds and than a message pops up saying "iTunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing. Please reinstall iTunes." I have tried both reinstalling and repairing iTunes via putting in the disk that came with my iPOd but neither have helped. Please help.

I also have the same problem!!! How did you fix it?

  • "iTunes cannot run because some of it required files are missing."

I first plugged in my iTouch to update and got an error message. Close iTunes and tried to re-open and got that error message: "iTunes cannot run because some of it required files are missing. Not sure what happened, hopefully this can be fixed quick.
    Thanks,

Close iTunes and tried to re-open and got that error message: "iTunes cannot run because some of it required files are missing. Please reinstall iTunes."
I don't like that one on modern versions of iTunes. If files *really were* missing, the modern versions would be much more likely to attempt to do a repair install of themselves when you went to launch them.
We'd better check for malware. (I've seen this crop up for at least one chap in the context of a Backdoor.Bot infection.)
Download and install the free version of Malwarebytes. Update your Malwarebytes definitions and then run a full scan.
    http://www.malwarebytes.org/
Does Malwarebytes pick up any infections? If so, what does it call the infections?

  • Itunes cannot run because some of the required files are missing?

This morning when I turned on my computer my itunes was suddenly not working. When I double click the desktop icon to open it up, I get an error message that reads:
iTunes cannot run because some of the required files are missing. Please reinstall iTunes.
I searched the FAQ archive and still cannot find an answer to my problem.
THe last part of the error message says to reinstall itunes, but I cannot even get the corrupt version off. Is there anyway to save the music I have on here? Another user and I have separate iTUnes music, so a great deal of music will be lost, including things recently purchased.

Thank you so very much. I don't know why I didn't think of that but it is up and running fine now

  • "iTunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing."  Help!!

"iTunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing." Help!!
Hello everyone, I have looked throughout this forum but couldn’t find anything similar so I am posting this in the hope of someone helping me out.
I have encountered some problems with iTunes (most recent edition) after doing a Dell update which seems to have knocked something out with iTunes.
Whenever I hit the iTunes icon it refuses to run and iTunes displays the following message:-
"iTunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing. Please reinstall iTunes."
I don’t want to reinstall itunes from fresh as this will mean losing all the records and playlists that I have spent the last 3 years using.
I first want to try by getting my old one back by any means neccessary.
Like I said this problem first happened after a standard Dell update.
I do have the option of doing a restore with the Dell or using Windows Vista restore itself but I fear I do not have enough disk space.
On the Dell update I can restore to settings of a previous date which might bring iTunes back but when attempt to do
that I keep getting the following message,
"Not enough free disk space to back up"
Around this time I am given a lists of what will be backed up and this readsas follows:-
    Pics 2.87gb
    Music 71.72gb
    Videos 330.57mb
    Documents 219.11mb
    Email etc 203.64mb
How do I free up disk space to do the back up? An external hard drive?? If I baIs there anyway of getting a previous version of iTunes back?
My drive information is as follows:-
    C Drive: Very little room - red warning - 5.67gb of 138gb
    D Drive: 6.34gb of 9.99 free
Do I have too much music?
Ideally don't want to reinstall itunes as is a ball ache, and it has all the playlists etc so if there is
a way of restoring and getting back iTunes either via restoring system to the prior date when iTunes was ok.
C drive is really full now. How can I clean this up and make more room? Do I need to add memory? Are all the songs
causing the problem? What advise can you give me? Please help.
    Thanks!

    Nodders:
I've recently had exactly the same message as you, after iTunes updated to 10.1.1.4. First of all, I checked the *My Music* folder to make sure it was still there - it was. (I do have a back up of that folder anyway!)
I then chose the re-install iTunes option and a pop-up box asked if I wanted to uninstall iTunes or repair it. I (obviously) chose repair and I'm pretty sure what happened was that the install process simply re-installed a damaged (or missing) file. It far too quick to be a fresh install. My library was intact.
So my advice(for what it's worth) is take the re-install option and then repair option. I can't guarantee anything, but ...
By the way, after I experienced a recent hard drive failure, I decided to invest in a 1TB external drive to back up my iTunes library and personal files because it's a much easier way of backing up than my previous method. Luckily, I only lost a small recent part of my library, but it taught me a lesson. Back up regurlarly, using a larger hard drive than you are using on your computer (which allows you to keep the most recent and +next most recent+ back-ups, and don't rely on Windows to do the backing up. Find a suitable backup piece of software. (My hard drive came with s/w built in.)
