ITunes cannot run (trying latest upgrade)

I'm trying to upgrade to the latest iTunes, 7.5.2 I believe, and eversince trying to do so, I get the message, "iTunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing. Please reinstall iTunes". This always happens either when using the installer and the status reads: Registering iTunes automation server, or when I'm just trying to open the newly downloaded iTunes itself. I've already tried completely removing iTunes from my computer, but to no avail. Someone please help me with this issue! Thanks in advance

I just upgraded iTunes today, and now it will not open.
My error message is: "iTunes cannot run because it has detected a problem with your audio configuration."
Any ideas? I don't even know what version I currently have b/c I can't open it. Never had this issue before today.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
I had this issue on an eMachines desktop not too long ago. First, reinstall QuickTime.
Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs
Find QuickTime, click on it and click Remove
    Complete the uninstaller
Go here to download the new QuickTime:
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
This resolves this error in most cases. In my case, I also needed to update the driver for my PC's sound card, through the Device Manager.
    Hope this helps,

  • Have just upgraded - iTunes cannot run

Hi I wonder of anyone has any ideas.
I have just upgraded iTunes on my Vaio XP Pro PC and now I try to open itUnes or my iPod and get tyhe message "iTunes cannot run because it has detected a problem with your audio configuration". I have tried deleting and reinstalling, but it does not even allow that, nor to do a iTunes repair, so am stuck.
    Help appreciated.

I had the same problem, you need to uninstall and re-install Quick Time only, follow these instructions

Started having trouble with iTunes so I uninstalled everything and tried to reinstall but it says ' iTunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing. Please reinstall iTunes.'  Well, I've uninstalled and reinstalled 5 times.  Now what?

I figured it out.  A week ago I had downloaded a screensaver from a website I trusted and that's when my problems started. I uninstalled it but that didn't help.  So, I reinstalled it then used an uninstall softtware app that cleanns more than the control panel does. Then I used a computer cleaner to be sure everything was wiped clean.  And it worked.  I downloded iTunes for the 7th time in 2 days and finally it worked!  And I lost nothing from my account.
Maybe this info will help others.

No you will not lose your content reinstalling iTunes.
    Do this:
1: Download and run the Registry Cleaner of the free Ccleaner.

  • ERROR - "iTunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing."

Every time I open iTunes I'm getting the following error:
"iTunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing. Please reinstall iTunes."
This started after I installed iTunes 8.0.2.20 on my PC (running Windows XP SP3) to get the latest version after purchasing an iPhone.
I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling, & fixing iTunes. I've also tried uninstalling & reinstalling Quicktime using versions 7.3.1.70 & 7.55.90.70. With 7.3.1.70 installed I got an error stating something like iTunes 8.0.2.20 is only compatible Quicktime 7.55.90.70 & to reinstall iTunes.
No matter what I do the same error message appears whenever I try to access iTunes.
I can get into iTunes immediately after an install if I remove Quicktime & clean my Windows registry but if I then close iTunes & reopen it I get the missing file error.
I'm not having this problem with my wife's PC running Vista & iTunes 8.0.2.20.
This is starting to get VERY frustrating. Please, if anyone can help I would GREATLY appreciate it.

    Seriously ***!!!
I thought I hit some gold with this:
    http://zardozz.com/zz/2008/04/how-to-completely-uninstall-and-remove-all-traces- of-itunes.html
I picked up Revo Uninstaller per the above directions here:
    http://www.download.com/Revo-Uninstaller/3000-2096_4-10687648.html
& proceeded setting to work cleaning out the complete Apple suite as directed. 5 hours later, after downloading a brand new copy of iTunes, & having supposedly removed all traces of anything Apple, I'm right back where I was, getting the same "required files are missing" error!
I've got a $300 iPhone that I can't use properly because their software won't play nice.
Like I said at the beginning of this post ***! Now I'm beginning to move from agitated to flat out angry! >:-(
Does ANYONE know what else I can try, or if there is a phone number I can call to get some technical support from Apple?

  • Itunes cannot run....

I installed the updates that came the other day. They installed just fine, but when I went to open iTunes again, I got the error message, "iTunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing. Please reinstall iTunes" Has anyone seen this before? I have reinstalled several times but it does not fix the problem. Any assistance would be appreciated.

I have a similar problem. I tried to open iTunes 7.1 yesterday and got the following message:
"The software required for communicating with iPods and mobile phones was not installed correctly. Do you want iTunes to ry to repair this for you."
I clicked yes, it told me to get the latest updates. I downloaded 7.2, but when I tried to install it, I got the following message:
"The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running Windows in safe mode, or the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance."
I get the same message if I try to uninstall iTunes. My OS is Windows VISTA Home Premium.
    Please help!
    Thanks

  • ITunes cannot run because it has detected a problem with your audio configu

I just upgraded through the auto upgrade feature and, whilst iTunes was working perfectly before the upgrade it now refuses to start, displaying a dialog box with
"iTunes cannot run because it has detected a problem with your audio configuration".
Now, given iTunes was working perfectly beforehand what has caused this? I've tried restarting the PC, reinstalling the new iTunes from a fresh download, deinstalling and reinstalling the new version to no avail. I have now tried to reinstall the old version and I get the same error message.
System is a WinXP / AMD64 / 2Gb RAM with an Edirol FA-101 firewire audio interface (still replays sounds via Windows Media player so it's not that!)
    Anyone got any ideas?

Have a look at this article in the Apple Knowledge Base and let us know if it solves your problem.

  • ITunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing.....

"iTunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing. Please reinstall iTunes."
Is the error message I receive when trying to launch iTunes or updating my iPod.
I have tried uninstalling both iTunes and qtime, restarting, installing with the iTunes75Setup.exe found on the iTunes download page from apple.com.
To help narrow the issue, during install/uninstall/repair this error also occurs as it is "Registering iTunes automation server"
any suggestion on how to resolve this issue would be great

First uninstall Quicktime 7.3 only in control panel. Then download Quicktime 7.2 from http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/quicktimeforwindows.html. Hopefully it works for you because it worked for mine.

  • ITunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing.  How

I have tried the "repair" option to fix my "iTunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing error message."  No luck.  I have rebooted.  No luck.  I am afraid to reinstall iTunes.  I have already lost my music once when I fried my computer.  I don't want to have to purchase my music AGAIN.  Is this really the only way to fix this?  Do I have to uninstall before I re-install?

There are a few ways to fix this. For me, going to add/remove programs and then clicking on itunes, CHANGE, then REPAIR worked. I was also getting an issue that after a few days or a reboot, it would kill itself again..
Others have to completely uninstall itunes and quicktime, erase their program files directories, then reinstall quicktiem first then itunes.
Others have to uninstall itunes, go to internet explorer and clear the recent downloads and the cache, then close ie, redownload, and then install itunes.
    Good luck!

This problem started when program failed to respond. I received a report from MS instructing me to uninstall quicktime. I do not have any further details on that message from MS. My big mistake was following the advise and removing quicktime.
After removing quicktime iTunes would not open. No response to any attempts to open program. I did not check the task manager, processes tab to see what was happening.
Tried to reinstall from disk. Tried to reinstall from web. No change. Read some of the messages on this forum and saw some messages that reinstalling windows might be required. Did not want to go there, but that gave me the idea of trying system restore. I did that and tried again to reinstall iTunes. No luck. More research and I found a message to install quicktime stand alone. Did that. But no help.
I hope I included all the details. It is kind of a long story. Thanks in advance for any help.

    hiya!
Did not want to go there, but that gave me the idea of trying system restore.
ouch. did you system restore "over the top" of the itunes installation date without uninstalling itunes? that's a known cause of that particular "some of its required files" error message. (the system restore strips out a bunch of the fresh itunes installation entries.)
here's a good reference on what System Restore does and doesn't do for you:
(MS) Frequently Asked Questions Regarding System Restore in Windows XP
at this stage, probably the best thing to do would be to uninstall your existing itunes and QT using the complete uninstall instructions given here:
Troubleshooting iTunes, iPod Software, and QuickTime installation on Windows
if you run into troubles on the uninstall, try using the Windows Installer CleanUp utility:
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
once everything has been scraped out, head to Windows Update to make sure you're fully up to date in that regard. (you may have lost a few during the system restore.)
next we'll try a careful "staged" install. download and save the following installers to your hard drive. (we'll run the installations from there rather than online.)
    Quicktime 7.0.3 Standalone Installer
    iTunes 6.0.1.3 Installer
switch off any antivirus and antispyware applications prior to installs.
run the QuickTime install. reboot. run the iTunes install. reboot.
does iTunes open properly after that?
    keep us posted.
    love, b

When I try to open iTunes, it stalls for a few seconds and than a message pops up saying "iTunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing. Please reinstall iTunes." I have tried both reinstalling and repairing iTunes via putting in the disk that came with my iPOd but neither have helped. Please help.

I also have the same problem!!! How did you fix it?

  • "iTunes cannot run because some of it required files are missing."

I first plugged in my iTouch to update and got an error message. Close iTunes and tried to re-open and got that error message: "iTunes cannot run because some of it required files are missing. Please reinstall iTunes." Obviously tried uninstalling and reinstalling and repairing. Also tried uninstalling and reinstalling Quicktime by itself no luck. Not sure what happened, hopefully this can be fixed quick.
    Thanks,

Close iTunes and tried to re-open and got that error message: "iTunes cannot run because some of it required files are missing. Please reinstall iTunes."
I don't like that one on modern versions of iTunes. If files *really were* missing, the modern versions would be much more likely to attempt to do a repair install of themselves when you went to launch them.
We'd better check for malware. (I've seen this crop up for at least one chap in the context of a Backdoor.Bot infection.)
Download and install the free version of Malwarebytes. Update your Malwarebytes definitions and then run a full scan.
    http://www.malwarebytes.org/
Does Malwarebytes pick up any infections? If so, what does it call the infections?

  • Itunes cannot run error message

Hey fella's I recently have been having trouble with iTunes. I received the error message itunes cannot run because of your audio configuration. i followed the steps to fix that by reinstalling quicktime. Now when i go to open itunes another error message pops up stating "itunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing, please reinstall itunes" i've tryed repairing it and reinstalling it and the same thing continues to reoccur. i've restored my system twice and it still persists. I'm baffled could it be a bug? a virus? I noticed during repair that about 3/4 of the way through, the error message pops up. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Hey try opening quicktime. Thats what i did, and after getting it up and running, iTunes started working again.
