ITunes cant connect to the internet to retrive 1.2 iPod update

iTunes says that i need to update my 30GB video to version 1.2 but when i try it says im not connected to the internet, even though i can use the itunes store just fine.
this is the itunes diagnostic of my network connection...

I am having the same exact problem as the author. iTunes Store works fine, although when i try to download the iPod Update v.2 from iTunes, it says:
iTunes could not connect to the iPod software update server because you are not connected to the internet.
I don't understand why this is happening and would like to know why. Is there anyway I can get a direct download of the update some where on the "internets". Thanks for any help.

    I don't use windows, don't you have a help folder...go there, enter firewall, look for how to disable...you can try to update with just your ant-virus disabled, but if your firewall is still active it most likely won't work.

    Did you try to change the routers Ip address to 192.168.2.1?
    I am not sure of that modem and not sure if it has a built in router ot not.  Call your ISP and see if that modem is also a router running DHCP and everything else.

    I have the exact same issue.  Started happening about the time iOS 5 was available.  Thought it was just server overload with everyone trying to download it at once but it has been well over a week now.  iTunes Support responded with a form letter response with links to solutions that I said I tried in my original email.  Need to make sure my Amazon Downloader app still works if Apple doesn't want my money.

    Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.     Are you allowing iTunes to communicate through the firewall ?
    Enable it if not. If you did a software update or a windows update, the firewall might have disable some of your allows...

    I did not have this problem before. now, my itunes cannot access itunes store, it can't get cd track names, it can't check for updates. I read in other topics about how the Internet Explorer 7 update caused this problem and how i have to install the Net Framework 1.1 for SP1. I did all that. I cleared my DNS cache. I disabled my firewall. No matter what i try, i always get the message "Itunes could not connect to Itunes Store. The network connection was terminated unexpectedly.     You don't need the internet to use iTunes.
    Do you mean when you use iTunes, the computer will no longer connect to the internet?

    After opening itunes and importing a cd, itunes could not connect to the internet to get track names and so forth. The computer is connected to the net and working fine but itunes cannot recognise. The itunes store will not open up either. Any help with this problem would be much appreciated.   • Downloaded 10.5 why won't itunes store  connect to the internet?

    My wife recently downloaded iTunes 10.5 and now I cannot get the store page.  It says that iTunes is not connected to the internet.  My internet is up and working fine for everything else.  Any solutions out there?

    Have you contacted Sprint?  See if they can resolve your issue, if you can't get 3G.

    I purchased a tv series and downloaded it (several hours) but i can only play it while connected to the internet, I assume it is somewhere in the cloud. What ever happened to buy it download it and it stays on the hard drive? The other day 8 tv series and 7 movies that i had previously purchaed had disappeared from itunes.

  • Software update cant connect to the internet

    I connect to the internet via wifi on my MBP and I can have say firefox connecting to the internet, mail checks fine, itunes store works, but Safari and Mac Software Updater wont connect. Any Ideas?
    Ive tried resetting PRAM,
    Tried the network diagnostic, but that says its all fine but a rerun of the updater still no connection.
    Tried various signal strengths to the modem.
    check/verify permissions and Hard disk.

    I have had this error returned for months... Not just during the holidays. Dozens of other users are having/have been having the same issue. SU starts just fine, gets to about 25 meg (in my case) and times out, returns the error you quoted. Smaller files usually (but not always) come thru ok. A common thread with all the posts I have read seems to be DSL. On a different thread, it was suggested the modem can get out of synch with the server due to line or modem issues such as forgetting to put filter in all phone jacks.
    Anyway, I'm going to give SU another go... It probably won't work...

    I installed 7.0 yesterday and have exactly the same problem. CD names are not picked unless I go to Advanced 'get info' and then they are downloaded from Gracenote. Also I am told there is an update for my iPod but I can't dowload it because I am told I am not connected. I also know my broadband connection is good. Have you managed to solve it I can't find any info.

    Tried logging into skype after the new update and it says i need to connect to the internet. Well clearly i am on the internet! I reinstalled and still the same problem..and i tried to connect via my phone and now i am getting the same thing. I rebooted the internet just in case and also did not solve my problem.
