my itunes wont conntect to the itunes store, i have done everything that has been sugested as far as uninstalling itunes and reinstalling it, done the command prompt file dump not useing proxy survers, turned all my firewalls off everything googled everything i could about this, every time i run the diognostic through itunes it comes back with can not make a sacure connection to the internet, im using windows 7, would really like to resolve this problem becasue i havent been able to update my podcasts or update anything sens feb

Close your iTunes,
Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 n above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

You have to create a ringtones. Google will find several ways to do this.

If you are using someone else's WiFi they may have restrictions in place.
(cofee shop, etc..)
Have you tried connecting using at least more than one particular WiFi network ?
You might want to try googling for a bandwidth test site
verify you have reasonable throughput..
1 megabit up and 1 megabit down..
(bandwidthplace.com is what I typically use..)

Aright well I'm having a huge problem fixing my ipod.    Let's start at the beginning, i wanted to put new music onto my ipod but itunes wasn't detecting my ipod, it said i have to restore my ipod to factory settings, so i manually did it from the ipod it's self.   When it started to boot up again it just froze at the apple logo. and the loading wheel is stuck. after some research i found out that its called "boot loop" and the only way to fix this is to restore it from itunes itself.

Itunes thinks i'm not connected to the internet.

I keep trying to update to 1.2, but every time i try, it says i'm not connected to the internet. Itunes Store works fine, and I have a cable modem. I've tried turning off my firewall, re-installing.

Hi, I have found this answer in a post and it has just worked for me.
Here is the solution:
1) Open Internet Explorer.
2) Go to Tools->Internet Options.
3) Go the the Connections tab.
4) Click on Lan Settings.
5) Check the box that says "Automatically detect settings."
6) Apply/OK out and close IE.
7) Go back to iTunes and try it again. You may have to restart the program.

It's hard to tell what password you are referring to. But my guess is you are being asked for the password to the iPhone's backup you created in iTunes. It sounds like you chose to encrypt the backup.
If that is the case, the following applies:
Warning: Make sure it's a password you will remember or write it down for safekeeping. If you encrypt an iPhone backup in iTunes and forget your password, you can't restore from backup and your data will be unrecoverable.
If you can't remember the password and want to start again, you must perform a full software restore and chooseset up as a new device when iTunes prompts you to select the backup from which to restore.

Why does iTunes say it is not connected to the internet when the connection is active?

No problems running iTunes on Windows XP machine with Norton Internet Security.
Moved to new computer with Windows 7 - still running Norton Internet Security. iTunes does not start when iPhone4 is connected with USB cable. Worse problem is that all internet activity (check for updates, activate this computer, etc.) is halted with message that computer is not connected to the internet... but it is. All browser and email activity works right.
Do I have a Windows 7 setting problem, a Norton Internet Security setting problem, an iTunes setting problem?

I suspect Norton's firewall is blocking iTunes. I can't tell you offhand where to look to tweak things.

I am using Windows 7 and have downloaded an update to Itunes. It now says it can't connect to internet, even though I am connected. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I also went to the command screen and typed something in with the word flush (sorry not a real computer guru here). I've tried the help screens, googled, and the thing still doesn't work. I checked my firewall and itunes is enabled. I also am running Norton Antivirus and Itunes is also on the approved list on that. I even disabled firewall with Norton and nothing. I'm going mad!!! ITunes freezes when opeining if connected to the internet

I have a problem that started this weekend. If I am connected to the internet, my iTunes freezes when I open it. It just gets stuck with the spinning beach ball. Any idea what might be causing this? I'd guess its something to do with syncing to icloud, but i tried disabling the auto download music & apps in preferences, and that didn't help

I am totally stuck on the same issue and have been for almost a year. Auto downloads and genius are disabled. I'm using a iMac and have upgraded to Lion OS 10.7.3. Being on an iMac means I can't uninstall iTunes but I am now on iTunes 10.6.1 (7). Think that's the latest.
If I disconnect from the internet I can use iTunes no problems but that kind of defeats the purpose of the store and I liked being able to control iTunes from my iPhone!
I've restarted literally tens of times.
Anyone that can help? should i raise another thread?
