i have the new itunes ans it was working and just today i couldnt open my itunes it said i didnt have quicktime and i did have it i actually installed quicktime after reading the message and then i try to open it and it still said i needed to reinstall itunes, so i did that and the message still came up bout not having quicktime installed in my laptop i need help trying to get it bak on

What happens when you try to open Quicktime? DO you get any error from QuickTime?
iTunes uses all the Quicktime codecs to play audio and video. So if it's not working, itunes will not work.

My itunes cant open?!

About two months back was the last time I remember my itunes working correctly. It was around the same time I downloaded Limewire. Whenever I tried to open it it would just show the user agreement page with "I agree" or "I decline" answers for about 2 seconds, and simply disappear.
Aggravated, I decided to unistall itunes numerous times and re install it, but it still didnt work. Now, I have purchased Norton Antivirus 2006 (believing it was possibly a virus) and then unistalled both Limewire and itunes. In this order, I decided to install Norton 2006 first, then Limewire, then itunes. I hoped that itunes would work this time, but to no suprise, the same problem arised. I feel so close to opening it up, yet this user agreement page won't allow me to pass through. Anything I can do?

Norton doesn't do as good a job at catching Qoologic (and other adware) as other packages do. i've got NIS 2006 myself, and i've always supplemented it with focussed adware/spyware protection packages (AdAware, SpyBot S&D, and lately Ewido, since i thought it would be nice to be able to walk folks through using Ewido to catch the Qoologic thing).
... but if your QT is launching fine (not flashing a screen at you), you don't have Qoologic.
that leaves two other likely candidates. one is your Norton itself. we have more trouble with error message free itunes launch failure with NIS 2005 than NIS 2006, but 2006 has also been known to cause problems.

My Itunes8 was working just fine and then all of a sudden i kept getting "The itunes applications could not be opened. What happens if you try to start Quicktime? iTunes cannot work if QUicktime doesn't.
If QUicktime does not launch go to your control panel and try to start QUicktime preferences. Give the text of any error message in full.
Have installed any of the following:
ACE & K-Lite mega codecs package, QT alternative, Storm codec, WinAVI video converter
They are bad news for Quicktime.
If you Quicktime works normally, work through the following troubleshooting article for iTunes.

Okay, that's one thing ruled out.
Quickly doublechecking. Is your iTunes launching now that the QuickTime Player is in place?

You need to get iTunes to open. Thewre's no other way to update from such an old OS version.
Uninstall, and reinstall iTunes.

ok heres what u gotta do
yes i know its alot of steps but if you do them right it will work.
1.remove all active versions of itunes
2.then restart as it asks you to do, if it doesnt ask do it your self
3.unplug ipod
4.remove ipod software
5. restart
6.install the cd the ipod came w/
7.when it asks you if you want to upgrade itunes say yes
8.download the file
9.intall the newest version
10.restart
if you have done exactly these steps(exactly in this order)then itunes should be working now

Can you check something for me, big? I'd like to see if iTunes launches with the Bonjour Service disabled.
In your Start menu, right-click Computer and select "Manage".
Expand "Services & Applications".
Open "Services". (Perhaps maximise the screen to better see what's going on.)
Right-click the Bonjour Service and select "Properties".
In the General tab, set the Startup type to "Disabled":
... and click OK.
Restart the PC and try launching iTunes. Does it open this time?
