ITunes Card in Mac App Store?

I want to buy an app on the Mac App Store, and I was wondering if an iTunes Gift card will be used to buy it. There is no "redeem" button that I can see, but if I enter it on my iTouch or in my iTunes, will it work for the same account in the Mac App Store?

Hi,
There's a redeem link on the Mac App Store.
Open the App Store. On the right under Quick Links click Redeem.
In the next window enter the gift card number there then click Redeem.
You won't see that if you go to the app first and then try to make a purchase.
The iTunes and Mac App Store are one in the same. You can use the gift card at the iTunes store but I'm not certain if you can redeem a gift card on your Touch.

  • Cannot connect to; Software Update, iTunes or the Mac App Store.

I updated to Lion on launch day and had problems with  Software Update, iTunes and the Mac App Store connecting to the internet.
I was completely connected to the interent, so people told me to wait it out as the servers were probably struggling.
However, it's been two weeks and I still get this message:
It's the same with iTunes as well as the mac app store.
I'm at a loss as I can't update my computer.
Anyone else have the same problem?

    same problem here
This solution work fine with me :
    1. Systems Preferences -> Network
    2. Under "Wi-Fi", click on the "Advanced" button.
    3. Under the "DNS" tab, add the Google Public DNS - 8.8.8.8
    4. Click OK, then click Apply.
    5. Turn WiFi OFF, then turn it back ON again.

  • Use itunes gift card in mac app store

    Hi,
I just got an iTunes gift card, can I use this in the Mac App Store to buy, for example the new OSX when it comes out?
I'm not talking about the app store in iTunes / iPhone.

You can use iTunes Cards in the MAS...
However, it should be noted that some Purchases may require a Credit Card.

  • How can I redeem the gift card from mac app store

I entered it into itunes store, but it doesn't have app for Mac.
In Mac app store, I didn't find a place to redeem the card. When I purchase, it went ahread and used my credit card!

Sorry to hear this. since the Mac App store came out Apple has eliminated the cross between itunes gift cards and app store gift cards. However, for future reference on entering gift cards into the Mac App Store; You are going to want to do is open up the Mac App Store. When you do, you will look for a redeem button in the right-hand colomn. Click on it, and follow the onscreen steps to redeem your card.

  • How do I use my Itunes credit on the Mac App store

I have a credit in iTunes which I wish to use to buy some apps on the Mac App store. However it doesnt seem to be taking that payment method. How do I solve this?

iTunes and the Mac App Store are the same account and credits redeemed for one are available for the other. The issue may be that you have not allowed for the sales tax that the US store applies in the final steps of a sale. US prices do not yet have the local sales tax added. If the credit does nt cover the total the sustem will ask for another payment method to cover the remaining balance.

  • Consolidate purchases in Mac App Store and iTunes in new Apple ID

    Hi,
I am currently getting away from Hotmail. I have two Apple IDs : one linked to my old Hotmail address, and one linked to my new iCloud address.
I wish to transfer my purchases from my old account to my new one and delete my old account, for both iTunes and the Mac App Store. I have Apps, music and videos spread on my 3 Macs and my iPhone.
Is there any way to do this ? I read that it's an impossible mountain of work for Apple to include a merge account feature, so if they can't do it as they should, I will do it by myself.
    Thanks a lot.
    David
PS : I have all the latest software and OSes available.

You cannot move purchases from one account to another. (Of course most songs bought recently in iTunes aren't protected, so this doesn't apply to them.)
You may be able to pay a small extra amount to un-protect older purchases - click on 'iTunes Plus' in the right sidebar. You can't do this with apps, though.

  • Mac App Store won't Update Purchase...

    Hello
    I have a Macbook
    It is running 10.6.8
I purchased Angry Birds through the Mac Appstore (not itunes.. the Mac App store..) a while ago.
I noticed last night there was an update available (on the Dock, a little red 1 in the App Store logo)
I click on the App store logo and click on Updates
I see the update that is available
I click on that and get this error message
"You Have Updated Available for Other Accounts..
To update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it."
However.. I have NO other accounts..
I have been in touch with Apple Support and they cannot help me and said I should contact Roivo support.. however this seems more an AppStore issue than an App issue
I have run the command to make sure I have no 3rd party apps installed (I don't)
There is no pirated or illegal apps on this computer
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Angry Birds app and still the same error.
Previous updates to this particilar app were fine..
    Thoughts?

    Just per chance, you could try this;
    Finding a pirated app
All MAS apps have a MAS receipt in their app bundle. Check any app acquired from the MAS. Right click on the app's icon in your Apps folder and choose Show package contents. In the Contents folder is a _MASReceipt folder and in that folder is the coded MAS receipt. It has the Apple ID of the MAS account that bought/acquired the app from the MAS. It is that receipt that the MAS uses to alert you that an app has an update. There would not be a notice of an update with someone else's Apple ID showing in the MAS on your Mac, if there was not an app with a receipt from this person's account somewhere on your Mac.
    Download the free app FindAnyFile (FAF);
    http://apps.tempel.org/FindAnyFile/
This app is easier to use and seems to be more powerful than Spotlight. Open FAF and in the box type _MASReceipt and press Find. It should come up with a list of every app on the Mac with a MAS receipt. Compare the apps with receipts in FAF's list with your purchased apps list in the Mac App Store. The odd app out should be the pirated app.

  • Why won't Mac App Store remember my password? + Other Issues

It's infuriating that whenever I want to: install something I've bought, buy something, or something else, it asks (yet again) for my pwd. Is there some way to tell this ******** app to forever remember my pwd?* Also, a few wks back (not longer after I'd finished a completely fresh install of OSX 10.8.5) all the apps in the "purchased" section had a little "x" next to them. Stupidly I pressed that x on one or more of them, & bizarrely the apps forever disappeared, what happened to those purchased apps of mine?
Also, in the purchased apps section it's claiming that a number of the apps are "installed", again it's ******** because I've not installed those apps on this new env! So, how do I get access to those apps via the Store? Also, GarageBand/iMovie/iPhoto they're all stock apps, right? Why when I search in Spotlight aren't they showing-up on my system volume? Instead they're only showing-up on my attached external HDD, which has a CCC backup of my prior env/install. of OSX. Same for 2 other non-stock purchased apps (Pocket/Trillian), they're showing-up in the CCC backup volume, so Mac Store thinks they're "installed". Three other purchased apps (Airmail/TweetDeck/Wunderlist) I was given the option to install or update (can't recall), so they're now in my new OSX env. Finally, why is it showing stock apps in the "purchased" section, I did not purchase those apps, they came with OSX, which came with my laptop!
Any help on one or all of these points would greatly appreciated, all the best!
*While we're at it, can the same thing be done for iTunes? It does the same kind of infuriating stuff

It's infuriating that whenever I want to: install something I've bought, buy something, or something else, it asks (yet again) for my pwd. Is there some way to tell this ******** app to forever remember my pwd?
Based on this over-the-top post, it's obvious that you would also be here badmouthing and blaming Apple when the app remembered your password and a friend or aquiantance bought content using your account. The password is your security that no one can hack your account, on your Mac or from someone else's Mac.* Only someone very shortsighted would want to hack the security. Your password is usually good for 15 minutes. During that time period you can make purchases without having to re-enter the password. When the clock has ticked down the password is required again.
Also, a few wks back (not longer after I'd finished a completely fresh install of OSX 10.8.5) all the apps in the "purchased" section had a little "x" next to them. You hid the apps, they can be unhidden.

    1. The Mac App Store (MAS) can see it's apps on the external HDD because the MAS uses Spotlight to know what's installed on your Mac. So if you want to solve this issue, temporarily unmount the backup drives so the MAS doesn't see the installed apps.
    2. The iLife apps are not "stock apps" they are a suite of apps that Apple is giving to you for free with the purchase of a new Mac. They are sold in the MAS. "Stock apps" are installed and updated with OS X, they are not sold in the MAS and do not appear on your Purchases list. The iLife apps are not stock apps, which is why they show up in your MAS Purchased list, otherwise you would never be able to update them.
    3. You were obviously given the chance to "update" those 3 apps that were installed on your backup drives, which is why you now have the most recent version of them on your new Mac.
*iTunes and the Mac App Store use the same account. Both apps have the same password security protocol.
