ITunes + CDROM = locked up Windows

Dell Latitude D610
Windows 2000 SP4
Philips CDRW/DVD SCB5265 Firmware release TD17 (most recent to date)
iTunes v6.0.4
CD Diagnostics locks up Windows so I can't give you any report
Playing a CD locks up Windows after 4~6 seconds of playing
Ripping a CD locks up Windows after just a few seconds as well
In short, anything iTunes does with the CDROM locks up Windows.
No entries in the Event Viewer related to iTunes.
Windows Media Player works just fine, so does the stock Windows CD Player.
Sonic Record Now works just fine too.
iTunes is the only offending application. The symptoms can rather sudden too as CD playback worked for a few months prior to this.
I did an uninstall/registry scrub/temp file deletion/reinstall, same symptoms.
It seems there are others who have posted very similar problems, yet no one has been able to answer them. I'm just throwing this in the pile with the rest.

Quit iTunes and restart your iPad,
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
If that doesn't work - reset your iPad.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

I have updated to a new windows 7 computer, and after transfering my itunes library via iphone, itunes has locked me out of the app section of my phone. I can not add or remove apps using itunes. Is there a way to fix this? I have authorized, deauthorized, restarted, rebooted, and reset both my computer and iphone. Anyone got any ideas?? Thank you!

The safest way to do this would be to copy your itunes library to an external drive. For the purposes of this excersize the new Laptop would be the external drive

  • ITunes library is locked or on a locked disk windows 7

    Hi all,
I recently downloaded some software called Jamcast which allows you to view iTunes / Spotify files on your Xbox360.
Since then my iTunes has been having problems.
I have a large number of mp3s on here 110Gb so it's causing me a bit of annoyance.
I'm getting the error iTunes library is locked or on a locked disk...
If I hold down shift I can get into iTunes and do the scan for media which brings back all my music but it loses the smart playlists and then when I come out of iTunes and go back into it brings back the same error message again.
My computer only has two accounts Mark administrator and Guest so I doubt it is a permissions error.
Also I seem to have far too many folders in my iTunes folder in my Windows 7 library.
    I have
    iTunes
    subfolders
    iTunes Media
    Previous iTunes Libraries
    Mobile Applications

A lot of the itl and itdb files seem to have a sort of locked icon on them.
Please could you let me know what the xml files and itl files do in iTunes thanks.

Copy the following (bold text) into a new document in Notepad (Don't use Word or Wordpad - they add formatting and it won't work)
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\runas]
    @="Take Ownership"
    "NoWorkingDirectory"=""
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\runas\command]

Save it under "All file types" as "ownit.reg". Save it to your desktop.
Double Click it and click OK when prompted. You will now be able to take ownership of ANY file on your sytem with just a right click.

  • HT4528 My Iphone4 is no longer opening in iTunes.  I have Windows 7.  I uninstalled and re-installed iTunes and also added updates to my iPhone.  What should I do?

My iPhone used to work in iTunes but quit working.  I checked my USB portal and it works with other devices.  I also uninstalled and re-installed iTunes.  I added updates to my phone and re-booted it.   I am not sure what else to do.  My iPhone also locked in vertical position and no longer goes to horizontal.

Maybe it would have been a better idea to confirm that iTunes is supported in Windows 8 before buying a computer with that Operating System.
There will be a new version of iTunes released this month... no one forced you to upgrade prior to a supported version of iTunes being released.

  • My Itunes has locked.

While trying to remember how 2 place a new cd onto my nano i some how locked my itunes and also uploaded all of my fathers very disturbing country music which i can now not get off as itunes is locked and untouchable... This is driving me insane and i have no idea how to fix it. Please help Please Please Please.... there is only so much kenny Rogers i can take. no offence if anybody out there likes Kenny Rogers.

    ha, very funny.
So there is a lock symbol showing in iTunes for your nano? That means it is set for automatic update.
Change your iPod options to manual update and the lock will go away.

  • ITunes 11 Locks Up in Regularly - iTunes 11 needs a "tune up" and then reissues...soon

I have been having trouble with iTunes 11 locking up (i.e. "not responding".  I have plenty of memory and etc.  When "not responding" iTunes uses 25-30% of the processor time.  From what I gather, I am not the only one having this problem.  People with Windows Vista, 7 and 8 (even a few XPer's) have posted this issue in variou places.  No one has posted anything resembling a solution. Anyone have any ideas?

I figured out the problem.  I installed the Freecorder 8 program and did not realize that Safari and iTunes were calling this file: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Jaksta Technologies\Audio Capture\jaudcap.dll
After I renamed the Jaksta Technologies file directory to test my theory that this file was the problem, everything was fine and Safari and iTunes had no problems.  Thanks to the help from Procmon.exe from Sysinternals (www.sysinternals.com) which gave me the clue to ask why was this file being called.

  • After loading iTunes, it locks up for 40-60 seconds

Every time I load up iTunes, it brings up the library, and the immediately goes "not responding" for about a minute or so.  There's no iPod connected, all of the applications I have which read the library are closed and set to not re-launch when iTunes opens.
Any ideas how I can troubleshoot this?  If I bring up the Activity Monitor, it just shows iTunes sitting at 100-150% CPU activity.

I tried all of that and was able to launch iTunes without it locking up, although it did say that it couldn't connect to the iTunes store and that I should check my internet connection. I did that and was able to get online without any problems. I ran the iTunes diagnostic tool, and IT even said that connections to the internet and iTunes store were ok, but I still got the same message when I shut down and restarted iTunes from the new profile. Oh well, I guess that's another problem to worry about later.
I next found the settings for disabling automatic downloads of podcasts while under the new profile, switched back to the old profile and changed that setting before iTunes could lock up. I then restarted iTunes, it appears to be running with the auto-download for podcasts disabled. However, when I try to connect to the iTunes store, I'm getting the same message as with the new profile:
iTunes could not connect to the iTunes store. Make sure your connection is active and try again.
I'm still able to acces the internet. Here is what iTunes diagnostics says about my connection:

    Hello, Pete.
Here is an article I would recommend going through when an iPod is not recognized by iTunes or the computer.
iPod not recognized in My Computer and in iTunes for Windows
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1369
Usually the resolution is updating the Apple Mobile Device Driver.  See the section labeled Verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed > For Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8 > Update the Apple Mobile Device Driver.

  • How can i use my apple ID with the itune store over my windows laptop

how can i use my apple ID with the itune store over my windows laptop

If you don't have iTunes installed on your laptop then you can download and install it from here : http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
You can then log into your account on it via the Store > Sign In menu option (on iTunes 11 on a PC you can get the menus to show via control-B) :
And you can then select the Store on the left-hand sidebar (you can enable the sidebar via control-S), and then browse items in the store and buy them by clickin on their price.

  • Service 'Apple Mobile Device' (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start.  Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services. and 'iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 193)

    Hi!
So i think i closed the wrong service at some point a few weeks back (apple mobile device) but iTunes remained working after that for another week. I then updated iTunes and i get the same  "Service ‘Apple Mobile Device’ (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start.  Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services." every time. If i click ignore, just so i can access iTunes with out syncing my iPod (touch 2nd gen) i then get 'iTunes was not installed correctly. Please re-install iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 193)" when it has all installed. I don't understand what the problem is anymore as I have looked at other questions on the apple website, carried out the advice and it hasn't work. Any of them.
    Tings I have done:
    - Wiped all iTunes and Apple data from my computer (if you search for 'iTunes' or 'Apple' nothing comes up apart from applets from system code.
    - Attached iPod before iTunes install and updated drivers.
    - Installed iTunes as 'Run as administrator'
    - Uninstalled and re-installed the software nearly 20 times now and rebooted the computer in between everytime.
Please someone help because i really need to get music on my ipod and i enjoy the ease of use of iTunes compared to spotify or Windows Media Player.

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for performance issues or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.
Regarding AMDS failures there is a hint in another thread that disabling the Windows Firewall before attempting to reinstall may help, otherwise take a look at the steps outlined in this post. Re: Can't install iTunes 12.1 on Windows 7 64-bit. I know they look a little daunting, but the process of generating the logs themselves isn't that hard to do. Extracting useful information from them is still a challenge but maybe something will leap out. If you want to post the log for the failed components for me to have a look at here or in the other thread please edit out any personal information, particularly your email address, first.

Hi, I have an iphone 4 with my itunes library on a Windows XP computer. My spouse (who has now passed away) had an itouch with an itunes library on an IMac. here is the problem, I bought an new iphone 6 and wanted to sync with my windows xp library and of course my itunes version is out of date and I need to update it...well I try and update the version and it will not update the Itunes library and when I researched it I would have to upgrade from XP to Windows 7...r they kidding me...first of all my computer is old and a pain in the *** but I have my itunes library on it.  Sp to get my phone working I sync'd it on the IMac and my spouses Itunes library has been sync'd to my iphone and I don't know how to get my library on it...After thinking about it I want to combine the libraries after all there are some purchases on each one.
I have done some research and you have to buy a 3rd party piece of software...this is not the way I want to go...I do not think i should have to buy one and also when I do a goole search there are a ton of them out there and I am sorry i do not trust the comments as some of them do identify that they will get a kick back.
Can someone help, i should be able to export my itunes library from my iphone 4 to the itunes library by appending/importing it...it is not rocked science on what I want to do and I cannot find out any process...
    Can someone help ?

If you still have trouble you might consider installing the alternate version iTunes 12.1 for Windows (64-bit — for older video cards) where you can download a 64-bit installer for the 32-bit version of iTunes that works with older video cards. This version may also be useful for anyone who is unable to get the 64-bit version of Apple Application Support to install when using the itunes6464setup file, or has trouble with playback of certain video files despite having QuickTime installed.
