Itunes changes my icons

Why when I download itunes does it changes all the icons on my lap top to itunes......i have to uninstall to correct this

During the installation you chose to make iTunes the default player for those file types.
To change it back, right-click on the file > Properties > on the General tab > Change > Select the default application you want and chekc the "Always use the sected program to open this kind of file" box.

ITunes changed my icons

Installed iTunes on my Windows 7 computer and all my icons on my desktop changed. The filetypes now seem to be all iTunes, even Excel files. When I uninstall itunes it goes back to the way it was.

You can force Vista to rebuild the desktop icons by changing your monitor's color depth momentarily. In the display properties, change to 16-bit color. Then change back to 32-bit.

Thanks Patrick. I used Control-Click on the actual audio file on my desktop opened the Show View Options menu and turned off the icon preview option. That changed my icons from gray with a white background to red with a white background which is exactly what I wanted. You pointed me in the right direction. Appreciate it.

Icon for iTunes changed to generic

For some reason, the icon for my iTunes on the desktop and start menu has changed to a generic icon. Is there any way to get it back or download the icon to change back? This has not changed the performance of iTunes, its just a cosmetic question. Thank you!
(I did right click on it and try to change the icon, and it isn't in my list of options. It would appear it doesn't exist in my computer).

If you right-click > Proerties, press the change icon button, and browse here
C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.exe
you should be able to choose an icon.

You cannot change third party app icons.
If you want to change built-in app icons, there is a way (well, not really change them, but create a new icon in addition to the existing one).
First, you would need to download an app like https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/touch-icon-creator/id357419508?mt=8. This lets you create custom icons for contacts, phone numbers, URLs, etc. You are interested in URLs.
You can create a custom icon then point it to a URL. For example, if you wanted a new icon for Maps, you would enter maps:// as the URL. Then tapping the icon would take you to the Maps app. This works for some of the built-in apps.

You want to change the Finder icon or you want to remove the Finder icon from the dock. You weren't clear on that point

Changing iPhone icons/9 page limit

Hello, I was wondering if currently there was any way to change the icons used on the iPhone like you can in OSX. Also, I've hit an app barrier at 9 pages and cannot load in anymore. Is there anyway to expand beyond this limit? There are so many cool applications at the App Store! I hate to pick and choose. Thank you for your time.

I appreciate your comments, and I suspect you are correct, Apple DID have reasons for leaving the icon limit at 9 pages. However, I disagree with your premise that those reasons are technical.
I program embedded systems for a living, and believe me, there is no TECHNICAL reason for that limit. More likely, it was the expedient thing to do to get software out the door to meet a deadline, with the justification that "we can fix it later in an update."
C'mon, how many bytes does an icon use? a few K or so? And how large are the apps those icons represent? Hundreds of k to many meg? It's not really about the number of icons that should be the limit, its how many MB of apps can you store, and that's not limited to "9 pages worth" according to the memory usage bar I see in iTunes.
I've read several comments from people along the lines of "why would you ever need more than 144 apps?!" Apparently, these people have only 2 pair of pants (why would you ever need more than two, one to wear and one to wash?!?) one pen and or pencil, one television, etc.
Let me ask you, how many songs do you have on your iPod? Pick any number, and according to that logic, I can certainly ask why in the world you would need to have that many!? I personally have almost filled my 80Gb iPod with music. Try and convince anyone that they only really need to have 50 songs, and if they want others, just "simply switch them out..." You may not remember the classic "why would anyone ever need more than 64k of ram?" argument that was made in the early 80's with some of the first "personal" computers(!)
I think you get the idea.
It's not about how many I USE, it's about how many I have with me when I'm traveling, and don't have access to my iTunes computer. It's about how many I get to choose from when I'm in the mood for a game. It's about not having to make a choice of which particular ones I think I'll want on a trip, it's having all of them available, with me, wherever I go. Isn't that kinda the point?
The good thing is that I have no doubt in a future release, Apple will update their firmware to handle as many apps as you have memory for, and maybe even give us (now, hold your breath!) FOLDERS to organize this sea of icons! Wow, what a concept!

In order for this to work you will need to connect to the computer that she syncs with normally, change her settings to manually manage her music, add back the music she wants then manually add the music from your computer.

I can't change the Icons in my dock

I bought the update version of SL and love it and no real complaints. I just have a issue with one aspect, the dock icons. Before i upgraded to SL, I used to have different icon pictures for different programs. So when I upgraded to SL it changed the icons to the standard/original icon pictures for the programs. Now i go into INFO in applications when i click on iTunes, and try to copy and paste a picture icon again to change the dock icon picture. But no such luck.
Any Ideas?

one option is to use a 3rd party app like Candybar which will let you change those icons.

Changing Podcast Icon

Here is my issue
1. I submitted a picture when I first signed up for the iTunes Podcasts. Once I was approved an icon was created.
2. I later changed the picture. The picture is now fine on my iTunes page

3. My goal is to now get the icon to change on the iTunes store. If you search for Fibroids on iTunes Podcast, you will see an older version of the picture.

Why can I not fully change the icon?

Skype is like this as well, and I'd like to know why some programs you absolutely CANNOT change the icon that appears in the taskbar, Chrome did this, but I was able to get around it by pinning the shortcut with the custom icon to the taskbar, I was unable to accomplish this with iTunes (as well as Skype).

What possible reason is there to not allow us to completely change the icon?

I am not understanding how to copy the icon from Preview... I open the graphic and click "Edit - Copy" then click on the icon I want to swap it out with in "Get Info" and click "Edit - Paste" and nothing happens. I cannot use keyboard shortcuts as I do not have an Apple keyboard at the moment.

Changing song icon labels

I am trying to burn a playlist of songs bounced from Logic to my dekstop and then dropped into iTunes. The files
show as quicktime.mp3 files. I was concerned how they might play on a Windoze machine and everything played fine so ultimately it looks like a non issue for the task at hand but I am curious to know if anyone knows how to change the icons from quicktime to appear as itunes icon"d" files?

ITunes home screen icon

I think apple should make this icon the original iTunes icon (like the one located on the dock) instead of the purple splash and music symbol. It would be alot funner with the CD/blue music symbol. Change this icon Apple!

Trying to upgrade OS on an original iPad. Screen is locked showing iTunes/USB cable icons. Connected to iTunes and get an error 3014 message stating it cannot be restored and screen is locked in this mode. How do I unlock?

Trying to update OS on an original iPad. Connected to iTunes -- screen is locked showing iTunes/USB cable icons. iTunes says must restore to default settings, but receive an error message 3014 that this cannot be done. Cannot unlock screen to use nor can I update or restore, so iPad not usable at this point. How can I unlock screen so I can use iPad, how do I fix this error? Latest version of iTunes is downloaded and I've followed all the instructions in regard to Windows. I'd at least like to unlock iPad so it can be used. Thanks.
