ITunes changes video/album info when I play video/songs

I have purchased movies, tv shows, and music on iTunes, and sometimes when I go to play a song or video I've downloaded iTunes changes the name/album/other info on the video/song, and it then changes where it is located in my iTunes folders, and album art changes as well. What is going on?! I've had it happen multiple times to both songs and videos. And unfortunately, even though it renames the files on my computer and in iTunes causing me to not be able to find them, I can not download them from the cloud because the cloud recognizes that those files are ON my computer (even though they're renamed and I would have to listen to thousands of songs just to find what it's been renamed to).
How can I stop this from happening and losing so much media that I've purchased on this computer?! I'm tempted to delete EVERYTHING, and redownload it from the cloud. However, what's to say it wouldn't happen all over again once I've done that?
Please let me know if you've experienced something similar and what can be done to correct the problem.

I'm having the exact same issue, and it's driving me crazy. Like you, it's been happening for a while, through several updates. This can get confusing, so let me use actual titles to keep this straight. Went to play Lady Gaga "Bad Romance". The album art totally changed to Swell Season and the song "Back Broke" started playing even though the track was still labeled with Lady Gaga info.
So, I tracked down Swell Season "Back Broke" and played that, and it morphed into a completely different song! I feel like I'm playing whack-a-mole with my songs. AND even though the Lady Gaga track renamed itself to Swell Season "Back Broke" and plays Swell Season "Back Broke", it still sorts alphabetically as if it's Lady Gaga.
My favorite incident so far has been a song with track info A, album art B, and the actual song that plays is C. Three in one combo! All of these have been with purchased songs.
Deleting and downloading the incorrect tracks from the cloud doesn't do anything. Problem remains. When I tried to redownload Lady Gaga "Bad Romance" from previous purchases in the store, it said that it was "not available in the US store." ????? Should I abandon my itunes library and thousands of dollars worth of purchased songs and just do a monthly thing like Spotify? Because the only solution that has worked so far is REBUYING songs I've already purchased!!
Ridiculous. Apple, find a solution and break it down for me step-by-step. Because I know I'm not the only person with this issue.

De-cluttering tip: Is there a way to prevent a track from showing up under "Artist" while still being able to view the artist info when I play the song by Album?

It was suggested I re-post in this forum, seeing as the problem may be specific to the Touch.
So, I have lots of "compilation" albums that include songs by various artists (for example, Pitchfork's top 500 singles of the decade). I usually select my music by "Artist," and now my ipod is super cluttered, because now I have hundreds and hundreds of artists listed, many of which I only have one or two songs by from this compilation.
One solution: simply delete the artist information for these large compilations, and then the songs from the compilations will no longer show up under "Artists." Problem is, I would like to know who the artists are when I play the compilation (I simply don't want to have the artists listed under "Artists")
Another solution: I could manually delete the artist info, but paste that info on to the song name. For example, a track that once looked like:
Artist: Nirvana
Title: Smells Like Teen Spirit
Album: Best of the '90s
After my editing, would look like:
Artist: [blank]
Title: Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit
Album: Best of the '90s
This would solve my problem...but it would literally take hours to do for each and every individual song. Not practical.

It seems like there would be a way to just check a box for what info you want to be listed (ie, I could un-check "Artist," and then the song would no longer be listed by Artist, even though the Artist information would still be retained for reference). Does this option exist?
In the prior thread, someone suggested I mark it as a "compilation" in iTunes. But that did not prevent the individual artists from being listed under "Artists." Someone suggested that I may need to turn "Compilation" to "On" on my iPod. But that does not seem to be an option on the Touch.

Why not set the iPod to show Compilations?
In Settings select Main menu (or Music menu) and check Compilations. (You can do so for both if you desire.)
Now all of the Artists that only appear in compilation albums won't appear in Artists.
To get to the Artists that only appear in compilation albums open Compilations in your Main Menu or Music Menu (or either).

Sound on my 60 gig ipod video goes out when I play videos only

It works fine on songs but when I play a video the sound stops at like 30 secs into the video. It does that on any video I play also it does it when I hook it up to my TV. I reset my Ipod and it still does it. Any help guys thanks

The sound rate may not be correct.
Also, did you make or download these videos from other sources (not iTunes) and convert them for iPod?

ITunes freeze for 50 seconds when i play every song

I don't know what happened! Everything works fine, i succesfully transported my library to a fresh W7 system and now, after 3 weeks and a new iPad2, my iTunes start freezing up for almost a minute every time i start a song on my Pc.
I can browse the store without a problem, i can do everything without a problem but wheni start a song, or iTunes swith to the next song, the program freeze.
Any help?

i finally resolved my problem. Turned off Homesharing feature and everything is back to normal!

I have experienced this as well. Usually it is something simple in the metadata that iTunes recognizes as different. Try selecting all the songs at once in that album and get info on multiple tracks. At that point you can mark them as part of a compilation. The article below walks you through this process.

Regarding the tags, on an MP3 CD iTunes simply burns whatever is embedded in the MP3 file. From your description, it sounds like the Onkyo is seeing the filenames but not the tags, which does seem strange. You may want to try the question in an Onkyo forum.
If you don't need the pre-pended serial number, and don't care about the sequence, you can burn from iTunes as a data CD instead of an MP3 CD.

I'm currently using iTunes as a song/movie/video player.
When I play songs, it seems fine n' the sound is good.
But it doesn't seem so with the videos.
I can't hear any voice coming out when I play movie or video files.
But I can hear it perfectly when I play them in my iPod!?
Every movie and video files are converted to '.mp4'
Is this has anything to do with my problem?
I don't know what's wrong with my iTunes

hmmmm. okay, let's first try a careful standalone QT 7.0.4 reinstall.
download and save a copy of the QT 7.0.4 standalone installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.

if that install goes through okay, do you get sound with your videos?
(if you get an error message on the QT standalone reinstall, let us know what it says. include error message numbers if you're getting any.)

Just downloaded an album, will let me play some songs, but others are asking for me to authorize my computer. When I enter Use ID and password, comes back and says computer is already authorized. Why will it let me play some songs and not others?

If just some of the tracks on the album are giving you that message, that suggests that those tracks are damaged.
If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:

Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.

Why do I only get the audio when I play video files?

I only receive the audio portions when I play video files. The video is blank/black. This is happening with mpg., avchd and the videos posted to websites; YouTube, Facebook etc. The only video files I can play are windows media files. Windows media PLAYER won't play the other video files? I have the latest updates for my video card and adobe flash player. Thanks for any info! It is most likely that the various files contain CODEC's, that are either not installed on your computer, or PrE is not able to use them.
You list several file types, and I would urge you to first see this FAQ Entry, then get one of the file info utilities, linked in it, G-Spot, MediaInfo, or MediaInspector, then post the details on the various CODEC's: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/440037?tstart=0
Also, that WMP cannot play the video indicates the likelihood of a CODEC issue.
Try either of the great, free media players, VLC Player, or MediaPlayer Classic HC. Both contain many useful CODEC's, but they do NOT install them into the OS.
Good luck, and with the CODEC info, someone can give your recommendations.

Not even close to good enough, LCD screen will crack, water will go in through the jack/charger ports..
The phone i describe has no external ports just 4-5 little pins which can't let water in or out of the device, the docking station will connect via these 4 - 5 pins for data transfer and recharging...., IPX8 standard, all the electronics are epxoyed with a glue to stop real bad shocks from drops and bangs, along with a silicon case and all the other preventative meausres means this little phone is going to outlive you.
in combination with heart rate external bluetooth connection, really what more could you want... only the Sonim comes close in terms of perfection but if it managed to pack all of above, then it would be simply wow... I don't think there's enough people who work for nokia who actually go camping, backpacking, hiking, i'm pretty sure that if i told them one day

The person gets their phone back and carries on about his day, it drops out of your pocket, how many times you ran over it because you happened to leave it behind the back tire. oh no i ran over my phone, the tough casing and the epoxy keeping it nice and safe, except for superficial damage cosmetic, the screen and phone should be working still able to make that call or send out GPS info....
Sorry nothing comes close by any company (except Sonim) in terms of what they can do... maybe even a portable charger turn it to recharge like on LED dynamos. nah maybe not.
