ITunes  changing song information with get information

in some cases when using the command I the song title is not highlighted and the information
cannot be changed, in one case this affected several songs in one album but not all, this album
was purchased thru amazon. any ideas

Just though of something else from the id3 tag, I decided to convert the song again in mp3, which it was already, the point being I converted the song, this new song was then edited and I was also able following this to edit the faulty one, then I went in show me in finder and delete the one I just converted. It is a long way to go at it I just hope there would be an easier way to get access to the song title. I have notice more and more song I get are like this.

  • Match songs appear with wrong information; album art

Two days ago I paid for iTunes match, and uploaded everything from my Laptop library (it has about 98% of my songs available).  Today, when go into iTunes on my workstation at work, not only does the song information not match the song, but the album cover art does.  In other words, if I want "In The End" by Linkin Park, and I click it, it shows a picture of a Kiss album and plays "Love Gun."  Any ideas on how to remedy this?

  • Consolidation files problem - iTunes changes song name

I upgraded Library to iTunes Medial Organization. Now, every time when I consolidate a file into iTunes library and click to play the file right away, iTunes will cut off a part of the song name and replace a letter "O" at the end. It happened once to change all the song names in the same playlist, however I unable to pinpoint how did it happen.

Sounds like Windows Media Player is "fixing" the info in the ID3 tags for you.
When you play it in iTunes, it will update the library to match the ID3 tags, which is why it looks like iTunes is doing it.
In WMP, Tools -> Options -> Library.
Uncheck *Automatic media information updates for files*.
Any songs that WMP already messed with, you will need to add the info back.

  • ITunes changing song data.

Has anyone experienced a time when iTunes store will change the title or artist of a song that was ripped with iTunes. I've watched my songs change, although it has only happened once right before my eyes.

iTunes does not change any tag information, although there may be other programs on your computer that do. A possible culprit is Windows Media Player; look in WMP at Library > More Options... > Library and see if it is set to do anything that you don't want it to do.
Note that if another program changes a tag, iTunes will immediately reflect the change, which may give the appearance that iTunes is changing it.

  • ITunes changes song name when song is playing

I imported a CD that was made from a digitally downloaded album. When I did the import into iTunes, all the songs were imported as Track 1, Track 2, etc. I went into Get Info, Info tab, for each song and updated each song with the correct title. When I play any of these songs, the title will revert back to Track #. I do have my prefs set up to automatically retrieve CD track names from the internet. I'm running iTunes 9. Any ideas on what I can do to fix this?

  • How do I create albums in iTunes, change song names/artist names, etc!!??

Ack! Please help me! I am a total dummy and I have no clue how to use my iPod video 30GB. First, I connected iTunes and all my old songs (previously dl from kazaa and limewire) were transferred over, only since the sharers spelled the artist names differently, I have Led Zeppelin (and every other artist) spelled a million different ways so all of the songs are listed in my library separately.
So, um, I need to know how I can at least manage my albums or whatever so that I can put all songs by one artist in one place and just name it something different, and also, if I do this in iTunes and then hook up my iPod will it automatically update to reflect these new categorizations? Also...if none of that is possible, how do I delete all of the songs from my iPod and iTunes so that I can try to arrange them differently in my music folder so that when they're imported into iTunes they can all be placed together more correctly?
Could it have something to do with the fact that when I installed iTunes I selected the option to "Do it myself" rather than "iTunes do it for you" option when selecting the songs from my music folder? ANY help would be so so so greatly appreciated!!!!!

In iTunes, right click on the song and go click on the selection 'get song info' (Or somthing like that, I`m not 100% sure, but i think it it similiar) and you can change what you want in there.

  • Sorting in iTunes changed - How do I get the former method restored?

For a couple years I used iTunes for Windows with 2 music content folders - the normal iTunes folder(s) under my Windows profile in which I kept iTunes-purchases and iTunes CD-ripped songs, and one in c:\mp3 for unprotected ripped or purchased MP3 files. Until I made a change in iTunes, I had the following sort order properties when the corresponding header bar was clicked:
    Title
    =======
    'Wonderful
    "Dalla...
    "In Crowd...
    (I Love you) For...
    1,2,3
    101 Eastbound
    A Beautiful Morning
    Your Wildest Dreams.
The same sort of effect was seen when sorting by Artist or Album or whatever.
I decided I wanted ONE music folder. On advice from a magazine (Maximum PC) column, in preferences I chose to have iTunes organize my music (previously unchecked) and then in the advanced tab chose to iTunes Consolidate my music. It copied my music and everything initially looked fine. But, after looking more carefully, I saw the following new effect:
    Title
    =========
    Abilene
    Your Wildest Dreams
    1,2,3
    101 Eastbound
    99 Miles from L.A.
    and,
    Artist
    ======
    a-ha
    A3
    ZZ-Top
    10cc
    5th Dimension
It's as if the entire sort order algorthm is different as regards punctuation and numerals. So, I unchecked the option to have iTunes "organize" my music, but the order didn't change.
What am I missing here?? How do I get the former order back to column sorting?
I'd appreciate any help you could give me - this is pretty annoying.
    thanks.

Get info and change the sort field(s) for one song,
    then click Apply.
Right click the song and select Apply sort field and
    pick which you want.
Unfortunately this is not working as intended with iTunes 7.3 for Windows (Mac too?). The "Apply Sort Field ..." does apply the new Sort Artist, Sort Album, etc. to related songs, but iTunes refuses to recognize that the songs were updated. If you check the tags, sure enough their Sort Artist, etc. have been updated, but iTunes does not seem to make use of the change. The only way I've been able to make it work is to go back into Get Info for each song and just cycle through them one-by-one without changing anything. As you cycle through, then the songs move to their proper sort order based on the updated sorting option. This wasn't the case with 7.2, so this would be a new bug.

  • ITunes changing song name!!

I have about 100 songs in my library, half of which were purchased in the last week. Up until today, I haven't had any problems with the song names, artists, etc.
However, while deciding what to listen to a few minutes ago, I noticed a song was named -pl that's all. I had to click on the song to play it, in order to hear what it was.
I have looked everywhere in iTunes for a way to "rename" a song, but I can't find a way to do that. Is it even possible to rename a song?
Why would iTunes just change the name of a song and give it such a stupid name?
Has anyone else had any issues like this?
    Thanks for any help.
    JO

Right click -> Get Info. Name it whatever you want.
You can also rename a song by clicking the whole line once, wait a second, then click the song name again, and you can edit right in place. It's likely that you did this by accident without realizing it when your song got renamed to "-pl"/ Those three keys are right beside each other on the keyboard.

  • ITunes changes song volume

I downloaded Keep 'Em Seperated off a USB stick my friend gave me with a bunch of music. Well, when I play the song, it normally starts out with a quiter intro as opposed to the rest of the song. iTunes made it so that the song is all the same volume level. It's annoying me to no end. Anyone know how to fix it? I turned off Sound Check, and turned off the EQ.

iTunes made it so that the song is all the same volume level. It's annoying me to no end.
The problem is likely in the file itself.  Buy a fresh copy from the iTunes Store or Amazon MP3 and it will probably sound much better.

  • ITunes changes song's artist or Name to Xing, Has also deleted some totaly.

I've uploaded a few CDs and Itunes has canged them to an abreviated Artist/song name and added Xing. The songs have no playtime (0:00) and they wont play (Example- System of a Down changed to SysXing)
iTunes has also totaly deleted all of my Queens of the Stoneage CDs. This hasn't happened to any purchased music tho.

    That sounds odd.
Do those CDs have any security warnings on the back?
I almost bought a Santana CD today but it said it wasn't really a CD and might not play on some players.

  • ITunes Changes Song Titles When I drop Them In a Playlist

I am using ITunes 10.2.1 When I drag a song to a playlist if there are numbers in the title iTunes deletes the numbers ex. "1. MySong" becomes "Mysong".  I like the numbers in there to keep track of the song order visually.  How do I fix this?

I have the same problem. Also, I don't want to store everything in a Artist / Album folder/directory, but in what is for classical music more logical: Composer / Album / Artist (= orchestra & conductor or soloist or the like). But also keep in mind that some characters are not allowed in naming a Windows-folder or filename. These characters are: \ / : * ? " | This is typical for any Windows-version (even Windows 7 32bit or 64bit). When you use these characters in iTunes, they will be changed in a '_'. E.g.: Bach: Matthaüspassion in iTunes will be in the Windows folder Bach_ Matthäuspassion.
Also, the total lenght of a filename in Windows (any Windows-version) is max. 256 characters, including folders and subfolders. So, even you change iTunes for another program for ripping and organizing your music like Mediamonkey, these limitations stand. Mediamonkey is not truncating the filenames into a maximum of 32 characters. iTunes has nevertheless the advantage using the CDDB-Gracenote database for its metadata and not FreeDB like the most of the other music library organizers. Although far from perfect, the Gracenote metadata are much more consistent for classical music than the FreeDB metadata. FreeDB is good for modern music, but it's crap for classical music. Less known alternatives like MusicBrainz are also rather consistent, but are too small. To give an idea: Gracenote and FreeDB have both metadata of more than 90 million cd's. MusicBrainz has only 8 million.

  • ITunes changing country shop with credits?

I live in the US so I use the App Store from there and now I saw an app on google that I wanted and it was in euros so I pressed it and it said it was not available in the US so I had to change to the French App Store. I did so and I didn't find the app so I wanted to go back to the US shop I went to my I'd and set it to US and it said I needed to use all my credits before I can change stores. As it seemed I had a 1$ left on my iTunes gift card and it let me change to the French store with credits so why can't I change back to the US store? How can I change back keeping credits? Are there any apps that are in the US but not in France that I can search to go back on the US store? Please help and thanks :)

iTunes gift cards can only be used in the country they were bought. I live in the UK so US gift cards would be of no use to me..

  • ITunes changes songs during the last minute mark

Anyone ever listening to a song all the way through and then iTunes will start playing a random song, but the player tells you it is still the same song playing?
Example: I'm listening to Mr. Oizo Tweeter Trouble then at the 4:15 minute mark it starts playing Wu-Tang Clan for the remainder of the song.
I tried deleteing the album from my iTunes and re-adding it to my library and it still does it.

'Failed to do this'??? Good grief - i was hoping for HELPFUL guidance, not something/someone sounding like a 19th century school-master haha!!
I made the deliberate choice NOT to transfer the contents of my previous computer to my present computer - for reasons i don't choose to get into here.
If you can understand my question & IF you have some helpful solution to a problem which was in actuality caused by Apple - keeping in mind, MANY people have experienced this SAME problem when the uploaded the last update, not just ME! - i would very much appreciate it.

  • ITunes Changes Song Order

Sometimes when I import an album into iTunes it changes the order of songs as they played on the original recording. Is there away to fix, or reconfigure, the order in which songs play on a playlist?

I just discovered that if I right-click on the playlist, I can select "Edit Playlist." Hope this helps someone else.
