Itunes closes itself without updating my ipod.

It started happening yesterday, its never happened before, and as far as i know, i'm the only person its happened to. whenever i connect my ipod to my computer, it waits about 30 seconds doing nothing and then a window pops up that says "itunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. we are sorry for the inconvenience".then it closes without updating my ipod every time i try. Anybody know how to fix it?

My CPU is different from a Dell and I am using the new ipod video, but all of the problems you have faced I am dealing with now.
I have tried all the remedies you went through, plus I took my ipod into the apple store to have it reset. Still nothing..
DId you ever get a fix for your ipod? and if so would you mind sharing it.
thanks

    Before I updated my iPod I had all of the songs to an album that I bought on iTunes. After I updated my iPod I only have 5 of those songs from the album. I would like to know how I can get the rest of the songs cause I already paid for the album and I went on my computer and it said that I have to pay for them even though I already paid for the whole album. So what do I do?

    Sync with the same computer iTunes that you normally sync with.

  • Itunes says it's updating my ipod but it's not...

    Hi,
    I'm running a Dell/Windows XP environment with an ipod mini (Version 1.4.1) and itunes (Version 6.0.4.2).
    My problem is that itunes says it's updating my ipod but it's not. When I copy songs across to my ipod, itunes provides the message "copying X of X songs" and I can see them appearing on screen, however when I eject my ipod and search for songs there's nothing on it.
    Other strange things are happening such as:
    - each time I connect my ipod to my computer, itunes wants to 'set it up' just like it's the first time I've ever used it;
    - itunes shows my usage of my ipod at about 50% full, however if I go my ipod directly settings->about, my ipod shows 0 songs and 100% capacity remaining.
    Strange isn't it...
    To correct this error I've tried all of the apple remidies:
    - restart computer;
    - reset ipod;
    - update itunes;
    - restore ipod;
    - update itunes software.
    None of this has fixed my problem.
    I've searched all the support articles and can find nothing that matches this problem.
    Please can anyone help!! This is so frustrating and has rendered my ipod completely usless.
    Thanks
    Brenton

  • ITunes is refusing to update my iPod Touch 4G

    iTunes is refusing to update my iPod Touch 4G. Trying to go from 4.3.4 to 4.3.5 & every single time, I get error code 3194 which means incompatible version of iTunes & iTunes is updated to 10.4. How do I fix this?

  • ITunes closes itself

    I have been using iTunes for awhile now and regularly update to the newest version. Within the last few weeks, I have had issues with iTunes. Upon opening the software, more than 70% of the time it will automatically close itself even if it is being used to play a song. It will still appear in the system tray in the bottom right hand corner. When I put the mouse over it is no longer in the tray. It doesn't happen all the time. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software and the issue is still present.
    Is there a way to remove it from the registry and start fresh? I would very much like to use the software, but this is getting ridiculous. I have the software on three machines and this is the only one with the issue.
    Thanks in advance.

    When I try to play a TV show, the window goes green and then iTunes stops working and closes itself. Songs all play fine, it seems to be just TV shows. Is there any reason for this? How do I stop it?

  • Itunes closes when trying to restore ipod

    My ipod keeps skipping songs so trying to restore it but when i do itunes closes down what do i do

    Did the problem start after installing Windows 7 SP1, there have been numerous reports of iTunes freezing connected in some way with USB.
    I don't have a solution at the moment although it might be possible to find more with Google.
    Some people have resorted to uninstalling SP1.
    Here is an example of what can be found:

  • Itunes tries to automatically update my ipod

    Since I updated to itunes 7, I have been having a very hard time. Every time I plug in my ipod, which is filled with music from various CDs that have been uploaded to various computers but not my new one, CDs from the Music Library at school, and even recordings from my first recital, itunes tries to automatically update it! The settings on my ipod are set to manually update, so I don't know why this is happening. The worst thing is, the SECOND I plug it in, itunes starts saying at the top that it's updating my ipod's library. It doesn't give me a chance to change the preferences on this new version of itunes or anything!!!! So every time I plug it in, I see the message, I see the little bar getting closer to erasing everything from my ipod, and I flip out and pull it out of my computer. Which can't be good for it. There HAS to be a way to fix this. I can't believe that apple would actually design something so fundamentally stupid and flawed as this. Even if you know of a website where I can download an old version of itunes that doesn't do this, something, anything! Please help. I'm desperate.

    You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on a Mac hold down the Option and Command (⌥ and ⌘ Apple) keys. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and it will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer. You should then be able to check your settings in case they have defaulted back to automatic from manual: iTunes Keyboard Shortcuts for OSX

  • Itunes wont let me update my ipod

    I tried putting too many songs on my ipod and it told me there isnt enough room so itunes made a seperate playlist with every song in it (i forget why). so i left the playlist there, deleted some videos for more space and updated my ipod. everything was fine... i had all my songs at that point but my playlists were gone (the playlists were still in itunes)except for the one itunes made with every song in it.
    i went into itunes and deleted that playlist and updated my ipod again. i found out later that it erased all of my stuff except for my photos.
    now when i try to update it doesnt even try. it just says "songs on the ipod "my ipod" cannot be synced because all of the playlists selected for syncing no longer exist"
    i dont see what the problem is
    can someone help me out
      Windows XP

    now when i try to update it doesnt even try. it just says "songs on the ipod "my ipod" cannot be synced because all of the playlists selected for syncing no longer exist"
    while the ipod is plugged in, click on your Music tab.
    you will currently have "Selected Playlists" selected. go through the list of playlists beneath that, and uncheck the one that you deleted from your iTunes sourcelist.

  • Why does Firefox continually close itself without warning, but reopen prior tabs, without an error message or crash report?

    For the past couple weeks Firefox has been randomly closing itself, without warning. I will be on another program on my laptop and Firefox will shut down. But, when I reopen it, all my tabs will restore as if nothing happened, and there is rarely a recovery error alert. I also do not receive crash reports for this phenomenon. Everything about the browser seems to be working fine as usual otherwise.

    I'm sorry but I think you didn't get the problem right. Firefox just unexpectedly closes. It does not crash. There are no crash reports.

  • My Ipod touch wont connect to itunes now. I updated my ipod and ever since then it wont connect to itunes. It gives me some sort of error.

    So then I hold the power and home button at the time time to restart it. And itunes now tells me I need to update and restore my ipod to sync music again. So either I have the ipod connected to itunes and cant sync..or I update the ipod and cant connect it to itunes...HELP!!

    Hello,
    If you have the latest version of iTunes, and nothing else is working, maybe putting the device into recovery mode will help.
    To put the device into recovery mode:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
    After you've done this, you should be able to restore your device. This will remove your data.

  • Easy one: How do I make a .VI close itself without making all other .VI's close?

    I figured this one had been asked before, but I didn't see what I was looking for exactly in the old questions.
    I'm using Labview 6.0.2, and I'm trying to make my main .vi close itself. One way is using the Quit Labview function, but that's a little severe, as someone might be running something else, perhaps, and I don't want to mess up their program.
    I know that you can use other .vi's to close .vi's, but can a .vi close itself? And if so, how?
    Thanks,
    -Dobbs

    Use a property node and wire a false to the Front Panel Window>>Open property
    See if the attached example helps you.
