ITunes Columns dont like my ipod

okay ive tried formatting my ipod every single way possible (g5 windows xp pro)
but every time it reverts so that when my ipod comes up in windows, it has this really weird columns layout, like title album equalizer artist and its really annoying how can i stop this from happening, without having to format my ipod for the 50 millionth time, somebody please help me

Ios 4.2.1 requires itunes 10.1 or later which requires Mac OS 10.5.8 or later.
Why would you update your ios on another computer?
You will have to upgrade your computers OS.

All you really need to do is connect the Shuffle to iTunes and set it up to sync however you like. It will have no affect on your iPod Touch syncs.

You need a third-party program to get non-iTunes purchased music off the iPod. Which have you tried? Th good ones cost like TouchCopy and PhoneView. Here are some others:

You cannot update it if you can't get the latest version of iTunes. Actually, the latest version of iTunes will run in XP if you have Service Pack 2. Also, you posted in the iPad forum, and your profile shows you have an iPad, but in your post, you say it is an iPod. Is it an iPad or an iPod?

iPads sync to 1 computer only.
All media and apps are tied to the Apple ID that purchased them.
Without your relatives ID and password, you cannot update any of the Apps.
I am pretty certain he is also violating Apples terms of service by giving you the apps.

Close your iTunes,
Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 n above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

The iphone is not a storage/backup device. The sync is one way - computer to iphone. The exception is itunes purchases: File>Transfer Purchases
Copy everything from your other library/computer, or your backup copy, to your new library/computer

iPhone desn't allow you to use whatever iOS version you want other than the most current. There is absoluetly no way to downgrade, authorized or non.

Maybe you have multiple accounts that's why your purchase history is empty. You can try checking for possible Apple IDs that's existing for you or you can ask for assistance from support.
