Itunes compatibility between 9 and 10

I have a Mac that I wish to upgrade to iTunes 10. Problem is I have and old powerbook laptop that I use to DJ with. It is so old, it cannot run iTunes 10 (Mac OS 10.4 is best the powerbook can do). I use the 'share' feature to upload songs from my main Mac to the laptop.
If I upgrade the main mac (that hosts the sharing), will the powerbook running iTunes 9 still be able to connect to the Mac running iTunes 10?
TIA!

yes i know but now i have
if(e.getErrorCode() == 1401)
so the only solution is
if(e.getErrorCode() == 1401 || e.getErrorCode() == 12899)
?

  • ITunes compatibility between OSX 10.6.8 and iOS 7.1.2?

    I recently got a new iPhone 5S and was trying to sync it with the iTunes library on my (admittedly old) late '08 MacBook (Apple spec page). However, when plugging my phone into the laptop, I received an error message which read "iTunes could not connect to the iPhone "[my device name]" because the device timed out."
    Simply syncing from the cloud isn't an option, as I've got a lot of music that was ripped from my physical media collection, or was created by me, and doesn't live there.
    I'm running OSX 10.6.8 on my laptop, mainly because my understanding is that the newer OSX versions are RAM hogs for older machines, and that will make this computer much less useful for its original purpose (audio processing applications). Is this an insurmountable 'generation gap' between OS's, or does a solution exist? Thanks.

  • Solved iTunes compatibility, copy and burning difficulties

    I buy my music and video from Amazon.com. Now I never run into those annoying proprietary copy write Apple-hack issues. Yeah I know there store is not as pretty and there selection is a bit smaller but if you want to move a song or burn a new DVD with any program on the market or any mp3 (generic term) player you can.
    I have tossed all my expensive iToys away and all my iHeadaches are gone.

    You can thank the copy right holders/content owners for all those problems. It isn't Apple.
    You were always free to shop where ever you wanted. Thank goodness you had a choice.

  • I like ti known about compatibility between Windows 8 and iTunes

    I like ti known about compatibility between Windows 8 and iTunes

    It works for some and not for others.
    At this time, there is no publicly available version of iTunes that is supported on Windows 8.
    Only Apple knows when that will change.

    unless i'm missing something, i think you got mixed up, this is easy google for walk throughs
    i'm assuming this is the new 3tb tc AC or 'tower' shape, if so, its wifi will run circles around your at&t device
    unplug the at&t box for a minute and plug it back in
    factory reset your tc - unplug it, hold down reset and keep holding while you plug it back in - only release reset when amber light flashes in 10-20s
    connect the tc to your at&t box via eth in the wan port, wait 1 minute, open airport utility look in 'other wifi devices' to setup the tc
    create a new wifi network (give it a different name than your at&t one) and put the tc in bridge mode (it may do this automatically for you, but you should double check) under the 'network' tab
    login to your at&t router and disable wifi on it
    add new clients to the new wifi network, and point your Macs to the time machine for backups

  • Compatibility between Java crypto and open ssl

    Hello
    I have some question about compatibility between java crypto and openssl library.
    This is my case:
    1.I created DESede key and stored it to file:
    SecretKey key = KeyGenerator.getInstance("TripleDES").generateKey();
    File f = new File("c:\\key.dat");
    DataOutputStream dos =new DataOutputStream(new FileOutputStream(f));
    dos.write(key.getEncoded());
    dos3.close();2.I encrypt some file "c:\\normal.dat" through:
    ecipher.init(Cipher.ENCRYPT_MODE, key2);
      byte[] enc = ecipher.doFinal(normalData);
      File f2 = new File("c:\\enc.dat");
      DataOutputStream dos =new DataOutputStream(new FileOutputStream(f2));
      dos.write(enc);
      dos.close();

    You have carefully left out some critical java code, namely the Cipher.getInstance() method. You'll notice in the documentation for this method that there 3 components to the "transform" argument of this method, the algorithm, the mode, and the padding. All of these must match exactly with the what openssl is using. Furthermore, if you are using one of the modes which require an IV, like CBC mode, then this must match exactly too. If you don't explicitly specify some of these parameters, you might get default values supplied. It is up to you to find out what these are.

    Thank you Joe - I tried this but it's only showing a teensy amount of music - the stuff on the second users account as opposed to the giagntic library on the 'main' account. I actually went to a Genius Bar and they said that apple doesn't really want you to share music between accounts - parents don't want to hear their kids music etc. Which seemed strange, but it might be the case sadly   Thanks anyway!

  • Share iTunes library between Tiger and XP Pro?

    I just recently got windows XP running on my macbook. I have already imported all my music (as unprotected MP3's) in iTunes for Mac. Since hard drive space will be slim for Windows, I would like to have iTunes for windows use the same library as iTunes for Mac. I'm running MacDrive 7 and iTunes-Windows sees everything just fine, but I have MacDrive set to make my Mac partition read only so as not to corrupt it. This makes iTunes-Windows unhappy. Is there any way to make this work?

    Just for your info, Vista ***** whatever you try to do. I'm stuck with Vista on a pre-installed laptop. All experience I have from Vista is bad, don't buy Vista or a computer with preinstalled Vista if you can avoid it.
    We have three computers in a home network, one Macbook Pro, one PC with Windows XP, and the Vista laptop. All are using iTunes-8, downloaded and installed last week.
    Sharing iTunes libraries using the option to share libraries on a local network works fine between Mac and Windows-XP. The sharing also works fine between the XP and the Vista PC.
    But the Vista PC can't access the Mac iTunes library. When trying to open the Mac library, iTunes on the Vista computer says something like "Fetching library info from...". It's the same problem when trying to access the Vista library from the Mac.
    We had a similar problem when trying to access shared folders on the local network. Thanks to a tip on this forum how to tweak the Vista registry, the shared folder problem was solved.
    I'm think some registry setting in Vista might solve iTunes shared library problems. Maybe some Windows freak knows how to patch the registry to solve this issue.
    Otherwise the solution is to trash Vista, and install Windows-XP.

  • Share iTunes library between Leopard and Vista, over LAN

    Hi,
    I would like to share my iTunes library on my Mac, so that our other Vista computer can access it.
    I have ticked 'Look for shared libraries' on both the Mac and PC. We use a LAN setup with a firewalled router. I am able to access the Mac's public folder from the Vista PC and vice versa.
    Except, the Mac library is not present in iTunes on PC. I used the latest iTunes on both computers.
    Is there something that I am missing, maybe a port that I have to forward or anything else? Also, do I have to enable another kind of sharing on the Mac, except Sharing in iTunes?
    Can someone please give me some advice?
    Regards

  • Share iTunes Library between OSX and Win7 Bootcamp

    I've done quite a bit of research on this but I still haven't found a solution that does what I require.
    Basically my setup is a SSD & HDD in my MBP. I have OSX and Win7 (Bootcamp) on the SSD and the NTFS HDD is a shared file storage drive for both Windows and OS. I have my iTunes library located on this drive and I want to be able to share the library between the OSs. I also want changes e.g. additions deletions made in windows to be reflected in OSX and vice versa.
    Technically this is possible and does in fact work if I point iTunes to the .itl file but the problem is that when I open iTunes after switching OSs it must go through a very lengthy library update which can take 30-60mins in some cases before I can use it. Obviously this is not a good solution so I'm wondering if there are any workarounds to accomplishing this?
    For example can I duplicate the .itl file and have one for win and one for OSX and still have the libraries stay in sync?

  • Share iTunes libraries between Windows and MAC

    Hi all i've an wifi via "Base AirPort" i've an HD shared between MAC and Windows sistem via the BASE, the iTunes library that i've stored in the HD is non redable for iTunes on Windows because it need an *.itl file...
    How can i share an iTunes library between Windows and MAC???

    I would like to report back that after struggling for months to get Tune Ranger to work that it is complete rubbish. The first time I tried to sync my libraries (between an empty iTunes library and my existing one) it created duplicates all over the place in my library and generally made a huge mess of everything. The support person (who I suspect is the only person over there) gave me some guff about my id3 tags being corrupt but it was clear that every song that appeared in a playlist was getting duped. Once I fixed this (many weeks later) I tried a one way sync after fiddling with the preferences of Tune Ranger to try to make it work, but it simply wouldn't.
    I don't know if anyway has had success using TR where they are also trying to sync playlists, but if you have, I would certainly like to know what you settings are.

  • No Synchronisation of Photos between iTunes 10.5 and iPhone 3GS after iOS 5

    I made the Update to iTunes 10.5 on my Notebook with Windows XP and the Update to iOS 5 on my iPhone 3GS.
    I had a lot of Problems (the Backup had an Error, my outgoing Mails were all deleted in all Mail Accounts, the Synchronisation of Music and Apps needs a lot of Synchronisations and a lot of Time and so on) with these Updates and I need more than 12 Hours at the Moment to repair all the Errors.
    My last Problem is:
    There is no Synchronisation of Photos between iTunes 10.5 and iPhone with iOS 5.
    I can not see my Photos in my iPhone.
    The Capacity in iTunes 10.5 shows 4,4 GB Fotos on my iPhone, but in my iPhone, there is no Folder in the Photo App and so I can not see the 4,4 GB of my Photos.
    This Problem comes with iOS 5. I had this Problem never before.
    First, I gave in iTunes a OK for a Home Sharing of Music, Videos, Photos and so on for the Folders and for the iPhone.
    Second, I was in iTunes in Photos and deleted the Check in the Folder Photos.
    Third, I made a Synchronisation with iTunes and the iPhone.
    Fourth, the Capacity of the Photos was then only at 0,17 GB.
    Fifth, I close iTunes and switched off the iPhone.
    Sixth, I started iTunes and iPhone new and bring both together with the USB-Port.
    Seventh, the Syncronisation started and the Capacity of the Photos in iTunes was at 0,17 GB, too.
    Eigth, I set a new Check in the Folder Photos in iTunes for a Synchronisation.
    Ninth, the Capacity showed 4,4 GB again.
    Tenth, the Synchronisation started and showed on the Display "2 Photos of 16.000".
    Eleventh, the Synchronisation Circle stopped after 10 Seconds, but the Notebook worked 2 Minutes longer.
    And after this the Synchronisation stopped appruptely / crashed (?) and the Photos are "unvisible" on the iPhone.
    Is this a known Bug?
    Has Someone a Solution for a correct Synchronisation of the Photos, so that I can see successfully my Photos in my iPhone again?
    Thank you very much for your Help!

    Ever since my upgrade to iTunes 10.5 my laptop has been crashing.  I've heard that the update ***** up 100% of your CPU, essentially crashing your computer.  Apple, fix this now!!!
