Itunes connect. free book account, developer account

I've rencety enrolled into Apple Developer program.
However when I was trying to get an access to Itune connect,
It brought me to the screen where it says "Manage your books"
I remembered signing-up for free book publishing account
when I was playing with Ibookauthor.
I'm wondering what Appler would suggest if
I just wish to develope apps and release onto
this account without using it as a free-book account
thank you very much

I've been reading your answers regarding iTunes connect accounts and related issues.
Your answer always includs "wait until the developer account is active" and "it will take a week or more"
(btw for the time I was posting the original discussion question, my developer account was activated.
it was interfearing with my free-book account)
However, twice that I enrolled to developer programs this week, both times I got my account
activated less than 24 hours. Actaully the second time I enrolled (with my new apple id), they
activated my account within 3 hours.
I just got off the phone with Apple, and they were nice enough to refund the money, as well.

  • No activation email for iTunes connect "paid" books sign-up

I signed up for my iTunes connect paid books account before Thanksgiving, and I still haven't received my activation email.  I contacted customer support, but apparently they are connected only to the iTunes store, and they don't have the tools to check application status.  I'm feeling lost here.  Any ideas where to turn next?

    Hi,
I am surprised you have not recieved a response email, try contacting Apple iBookstore support at 877-206-2092.
I reached out to them and they answered my questions super fast, my paid book has already posted to the iBook store, see below:

  • Can't create new free books account in iTunes Connect

I am trying to create a new free books account so that I can publish my book to ibooks. I just keep getting the same error message over and over and all of the info I am inputting is correct."Error saving application"  What the???? where now.  I have created by book and I want to get it up and running.  Please advise.
    Thanks

    The solutiuon is here.....
Apple have new requirements..... iTunes, iBooks Free and iBooks Paid each require a diferent  ID -  email address and passwords.
Apple  do not seem to think  about chaning the website everytime they change rules and requirements.
For World renowned high tech products business.... at times they do nothing to  help their users!!

  • HT1937 How can I cancel my iTunes Free Books Account?

Repeat: how can I cancel my iTunes Free Books Account?

Just stop using it. Anything you downloaded is forever tied to that account
and you will need to use that account for any updates to items downloaded
    with the account.
What is the problem that you wish to cancel the account? If you give more
detail, perhaps someone may suggest a solution.

  • Keep current AppleID for Free Books Account?

I'm about to sign up on iTunes Connect to upload/publish my iBooks Author files using a Free Books Account. Should i use my current AppleID that I buy apps and songs with, or create a new one? Advantages of each? I plan to open a Paid Books Account later and sell my work in the iBooks store. Thanks for your advice.

Seems like that Apple are adding to their (or publishers') troubles. After the multiple Apple ID problems with iCloud, you'd think they would avoid them. (Apple have steadfastly refused to consolidate Apple IDs.)
Seeing that an Apple ID requires a unique email address, this could be quite problematic for people who already have two Apple IDs because now, they need to get themselves a third email address.

  • How can I transition from a free books account to a paid books account?

I created a free books account (based on my existing itunes ID) to post 2 books just to test out the process.  Now that I feel like I know what I'm doing, I'd like to update a paid book, but can't figure out how to go about doing it.  I created a second Itunes ID to create a paid book account, but then the SSN I used for that account was the same (obviously) as the one I used for the free account and that's where I ran up against a wall.  What to do now?
    Thanks!

You  will need to retain your free books account - its not 'transferable" in any way.
You will need to apply for for a Paid Books account, new "username" email address is required.
You will need to fulfil the  requirements in the Contracts and Banking section of  your "new account" - you can use the same bank and credit card details and you will to apply to the USA tax office for an EIN.
    I used this.
1-267-941-1099   USA IRS Telephone    - you  may have to  change the country code from 1
http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fss4.pdf     Its better to download teh PDF, print it off, fill it in and have it with you when you  phone the IRS.  Try to calculate your call to be  6.30pm  East Coast US time - they work till 7pm   so at  6.30pm.. it is usually a quiet  time and should  mean no  waiting online for an agent.

  • Can't sign up for a Free Books Account

I'm trying to sell a book for free wthout an ISBN.
I just discovered that you cannot do this with a Paid Books Account. Evidently, with a Paid Books Account you must have an ISBN no matter what price you set, even if its free.
So, I set up a second Apple ID, confirmed a second credit card, and when I go to sign up for a Free Books Account, I get this error:
Is anyone else having this issue?

I feel your pain. I am working on a free e-book project to raise awareness for ALS and running into the same difficulty. We have some big name celebrities lending their Names to the book and are now being forced to explore alternate distribution networks. You are not alone!

  • Itunes connects in one account, not another

I have two user accounts set up in my computer, one for the adults and one for the kids. When I open itunes in the adult account, it works fine. When I open itunes in the kids' account, it won't connect to itunes store, even if I use the adult itunes account. How do I make it connect in the kids' user account?

If I recall correctly, some folks had success with disabling Vista parental controls on the kid's windows user account.
After that's done, start itunes and log into the itunes store with the kid's itunes account.
Then close itunes, and change the Vista permissions back to have controls.
After that, the kids should be able to log into the store with their itunes account - with Vista parental controls intact.
I can't remember the exact steps posted, but it was an iTunes bug tied to not handling Vista parental controls correctly.
just thought of something else, it might also be a problem with the additional itunes preferences > edit > Parental tab.
You might try turning that off, logging the kids in, then turning it back on.

  • ITunes Connection timeouts and account access

Does Anyone know what is going on with iTunes Store today? I have tried to do stuff with App Store, or also just a regular music purchase and the store just times out. Can't even access my account info.....
whazzup Apple? Starting to look alot like Vista!

I am also having the same issue and it would have seem to just started recently. I've attempted to purchase a song and log in, but the loading bar would just hand until I received an error saying the connection has been reset. Any update would be great.

  • How can i get the Free Books Account: Authenticate to resend?

i'm having issues with Gmail. i'm working with my business to make iBooks. every time i've tried to get an Authentication, it fails the first time. I do not have control over the GMail as it's the bosses. But i can't find where to get the authentication to resend... what is happening? any suggestions. It did the same thing with Authenticating with the credit card. (which i found the resend). it's like Google and Apple are still having a spat...
    help!

Get away from Gmail and start again, seems a good idea. Yahoo is as good or as bad as any, and not owned by control freaks.
Not sure why you cannot find emails.... does Gmail not have an in box?

  • Changing account from free book to paid book

    Hi Apple support ...

  • Won't let me sign up for an iTunes connect account.

I signed up for an iTunes connect account and it doesn't let me as
    The following error(s) occurred:
The seller name you entered is already being used for an iTunes Connect account that distributes Book. Sign in to iTunes connect with that account to manage its content, or continue with this application and enter a different seller name.
Okay, so when signing in, it shows me the following error.
Apple ID does not have permission to access iTunes Connect.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

So I received a new support mail but unfortunately it does not help :-(
    Hello frederic,
Thank you for contacting Apple Developer Support regarding your iBookstore account.
The first step is for you to create an iBookstore account through iTunes Connect.  Please use the following link:
    <https://itunesconnect.apple.com/WebObjects/iTunesConnect.woa/wa/apply>
After your account is setup you can begin creating iBooks with a free application called iBooks Author. You can access this application through the Mac App Store. The system requirement for this will be to use a Mac.
If you have any questions about the processes after that, or with specific questions regarding the details of the iBookstore please use the following address:
    <[email protected]>
Thank you for taking the time to speak with me today, and if you have any questions for us please don’t hesitate to ask.

  • Terms to be agreed when creating a Paid Books Account and submitting an iBook to the iBookstore

    Hi there everyone
I'm advising a client on the range of terms to be agreed when its creates an iBook using iBooks Author and then submits the iBook for publication on the iBookstore (using a Paid Books Account, not a Free Books Account).
From what I can glean from various sources, it seems the client needs to agree to:
    the iBooks Author 2.0 License Agreement, when downloading the iBooks Author app from the AppStore;
the eBook Agency/Commissionaire Distribution Agreement (when creating a Paid Books Account through iTunes Connect); and
the iTunes Connect Terms of Service when downloading iTunes Producer (the separate app through which one publishes an iBook to the iBookStore).
There are two things I'm not sure about though. The reason for my lack of certainty is that I don't have a US Tax ID and so cannot replicate the Paid Books Account sign-up process to the stage where I'd have to agree to the various terms and conditions. My  questions, please, are:
Am I correct in thinking that a person is required, when creating a Paid Books Account through iTunes Connect, to agree to the "eBook Agency/Commissionaire Distribution Agreement"?
If so, can anyone email me please ([email protected]) or provide a link to the latest version of the eBook Agency/Commissionaire Distribution Agreement? (I've seen a version online (http://outskirtspress.com/iBookStore_v3.pdf) but don't know whether it's the latest version; I'm thinking it's probably not).
When signing up for a Paid Books Account, is one also required to agree to the "PHG Terms and Conditions" and the "Publisher Program Terms and Conditions" that are attached to them, or is that optional?
Many thanks for any help. Much appreciated.
    Kind regards
    Richard

Any documents/agreements are obtained as part of a contract and not allowed to be distributed in an otherwise uncontrolled manner, which if done, could violate the agreement/contract.
You need to participate in the process to:
    1. Access the latest, binding versions of all agreements/contracts
    2. Possess a tax id/SSN to sign up.
If you have questions about the process, you should contact Apple directly.

  • US EIN Number for Paid Book Account

I should have known better than to go down this path!
Although I basically  started doing the free books and due to what I perceive as tax issues possibly with three countries, I  had no intentions of getting a paid books account.... until last week  after going through the US Tax ID thread.
A problem on the forum is that many people ask for solutions - get them and  dont give any feedback which would help others following their path.
So I decided to apply for an EIN.
Dreading  being put on hold for an extended period as one poster suffered and  musty have had a large bill for the international call - I used a Phone card
( normally used for contacting  family back in the UK)  and set about the task.
I called at  8.30am Sydney time  ( I think 5.30pm est USA time)   Nobody  mentioned the usual  "select 1  for...select 2 for..."  which took about 1 minute.
a redirect got me to the right place and a very helpful, polite agent/operator or whatever title  the tax guys have, asked,  after I mentioned  an EIN was required-  if I had a filled in SS-4 - YES.. it does make it easier to get through the routine. ( download the PDF, print it off and  fill it in before you 'phone)
As per all the others, within 10 -12 minutes I was given an EIN number.  The blurb will follow by post eventually.
So painless and no heartache there....and the cost using the phone card ( CardCost was AU$10) the call cost- AU$0.20c!
    Now its dealing with Apple!
For those with a Free Book account thinking about getting a Paid Book account... you will need to open a new Apple I.D.,  which is non negotiable!
I decided on on a new ID name and opened a new email address.
Went through the iTunesstore "create ID" process - which  hiccuped - I went away for an hour so and on return tried again.. maybe Apple had not updated things  so fast .. but now a new ID application went through OK with the  usual existing information plus the new email and ID name.
Next come the questionnaire re your "stock"  of ePubs, PDFs for converting and digital rights.
I have 12 books which were in the free books - now withdrawn
Ignore the  top line  ooptions to name titles and its seems pointless to me asking what you have ready.. because  any author could go on to create 1000 books!
You are required to have a website - not a problem for me cos that's my "hobby"!   Others may  have a sinking feeling seeing this requirement.
    Don't  panic.. its about support.
Typical Apple they simply adjust a few bits from something they already have.. and while I understand "apps" need a support contact - I fail to see why an e-mail address is not enough ( for apps)  and to me its a complete waste of time ( and money for  some)  to  require  a website.
Afterall anybody with a buying a book which  has been reviewed and approved - may only want to e-mail a "well done"... any problems on the iPad are surely for Apple support to deal with!
Anyway... for those in a panic, as KT pointed out recently.. Facebook ( ugh) should be a suitable vehicle to offer  a point of contact and support.
The more adventurious can look at Wordpress and othe similar " blog" sites... or make  people like me happy and purchase a website.
Thas about it  - I have now  submitted the application and assume Apple will reply after they have confirned the EIN.
I think a lot of people start into these applications  - pre-programmed to expect Apple to make it dificult and while we understand chating across the world online or buy boots from New York and top hats from Hong Kong... most  people have a dread of tax offices in their own city let alone on the other side of  the planet.
patience and  bit of pre planning and preparation make it easy.

It took about a week for me. Make sure your email software doesn't treat mail from [email protected] as junk.
    Michi.
