ITunes Connectivity Problem (with used iPhone)

I've just bought a used iPhone from a friend. When I try to put the device on my iTunes (on my computer) it tells me, "iTunes cannot connect to the iPhone because it is locked with a pass code". I don't have the pass code. How do I get around this?

You need to restore the iPhone as new. Since it's passcode locked, you're going to need to do a little extra.
1. Turn off the iPhone
2. Open iTunes on the computer
3. Hold the home button on the iPhone and plug it into your computer
4. iTunes should say that it detects an iPhone in recovery mode
5. Restore device as new in iTunes
If that doesn't work, call AppleCare at 1-800-275-2273

  • ITunes connection problem, with a really weird twist.

    I have been using iTunes for two years now, and am very happy with it and my 2GB, 2nd generation Nano. However, about a year ago, I started having problems.
    I use a Windows XP (Service Pack 2). Our XP is divided up into four accounts between my parents, me and my sister. The problem that came up was that all of a sudden, I could no longer connect to either iTunes' Store or IE7 in my account, and yet my parents could access IE (I was the only one who used iTunes). Seeing no other alternative, I backed up all my documents and files from my account to my mom's, terminated my XP account, and made a new one. It worked. This happened once again 6 months ago, and I repeated the process. Yesterday it happened again. My sister got an iPod for Christmas, and iTunes' Store works fine in her account- I just checked. So what's up with mine?

    I reinstalled iTunes with the library files backed up. To be safe, I renamed my iTunes folder 'iTunes2' so that the reinstallation wouldn't replace the file, which contains ALL my music. After the reinstallation, I returned my iTunes file to its original name so that the program would read from the registry. I opened iTunes, and my playlists were gone, so I stuck my backed up library files into the folder and got them back.
    Still didn't work.
    I even tried repeating the process and then NOT putting the backups into the folder, so that when I opened iTunes, it appeared new. Still no luck.
    Ugh, this bothers me. XD I have songs I want to download...

  • Wifi connection problem with two iphone 4s

    Just installed a new Linksys E-1200 wireless-N300 router.  We can not connect two iphone 4s at the same time.
    If one gets an IP address, the other can not.  If we switch off the wifi on the one connected then we can get the
    second iphone 4 connected but not both at the same time.  We have DSL with ATT.  Any suggestions?

  • BMW bluetooth connection problems with the iphone 4s

    My 2010 BMW 528 and iphone 4s are not working properly together. About half my outgoing calls from the car leave the recipient unable to hear my voice. Consequently they hang up. If I call them back a second time they usually hear me just fine. The pairing generally seems solid. I receive calls normally and both parties hear each other on all incoming calls. It's just the outbound calls that dont work reliably. Apple is trouble shooting (e.g., a iOS5 reinstall is pending) but I'm not sure (nor are they) that this will fix it. Some thought that there may be a basic imcompatibility between the two devices. Many report that the 3g and 4 models pair and work fine with BMW's. Any thoughts/suggestions? 

    I have the same problem in 2010 BMW 528i and iPhone 4S. I reduced how often this happens by turning off syncing of contact on the iphone. But it still happens daily. The audio is not diverted from the phone to the car.
    Really, really hoping that this gets fixed with iOS 5 update soon.

    Hi. I would really appreciate if someone could help me find a way to solve my problem. I bought a second hand iphone4 from my friend's friend. I fully trust my friend coz she said this iphone is working but it was handed to her lowbat so i get home i recharge it immediately and after charging it, i open and it shows to select language and country and i did select.     Iran uses GSM, so the iPhone 5 will work.  It is already unlocked.  Just put local Iranian SIM in phone.

    Was your phone jailbroken or "unlocked" by someone other than the carrier it was originally locked to?
    Sounds like you have a hacke/jailbroken phone.

    Take your time... Pay particular attention to Steps 3 and 4.

    Update: my PC USB hub was connected to a USB 3 port, I connected the 30 pin cable directly to my PC, And the restore worked just fine. Restored phone from iCloud backup and seems to be working fine.

    I have two Iphones 5 with different email addresses sharing one Apple ID account.Both are using IOS 8.
    I would like to set up a new Apple Id for one of the phones and remove it from the old account.
    If I do that, can I move all of the purchased apps and songs to the new Apple account?
    Also, will sharing one Apple ID account with two devices cause problems with using messaging and FaceTime?

    Sharing an iCloud account between two devices can be done without causing issues with iMessage and FaceTime, just go into Settings for each of these functions and designate separate points of contact (i.e. phone number only, or phone number and unique email address).  While that works, you'll then face the problem where a phone call to one iPhone will ring both if on the same Wi-Fi network -- but again, that can be avoided by changing each phone's settings.
    Rather than do all that, don't fight it -- use separate IDs for iCloud.  You can still use a common ID for iTunes purchases (the ID for purchases and iCloud do not have to be the same) or you can use Family Sharing to share purchases from a primary Apple account.
