ITunes constantly crashing
Everytime I start iTunes, I get the spinning candy wheel of death after a couple of minutes - even when nothing is synching and it's not even playing music. I can't delete it and reinstall it. What can I do?
Did a complete reinstall; iTunes remained ok for 0ne minute then spinning beach ball. Here is the error report submitted to Apple:

Itunes constantly crashes and won't open even efter removal and re-install.
It states "AppCrash" as the reason. I've removed all the hardware, and reinstalled it just to have itunes quickly open upon startup, immediately close again and state it was an app crash.
Thank you all for your input and sympathy! I did reset the PRAM before taking it in on Sunday, but that unfortunately didn't do it. I also tried the erase-then-install route, but the machine only gets through varying degrees of the install before crashing.
I hauled it up to the Apple Store (150 mi. RT, but great guys/fast service) who also believed it was RAM, swapped out the apparently 3rd party RAM (who would think you would have to specify APPLE RAM to an Apple Specialist/Reseller?!). Turns out it still crashes, so back I went on Monday. It's now waiting on a logic board and processor.
I've always bought direct from Apple before, but tried to save a few $ this time. Needless to say, those saved $ have been spent several times over in time and mileage, some of which would have been spent regardless of where the machine came from. However, had I bought direct, I could probably get a new machine more quickly at the store. If the machine isn't running wthin a week I will send it back west for an exchange. Thank you again. I'll follow up here when this is resolved. -
Re: iTunes Constantly Crashes
Hi,
I've the same problem, but a bit more located. iTunes crashes when I'm copying certain songs. I've checked that it works fine when I remove the album artwork, but I hate to have songs without its cover.
Any idea?
Thanks a lot!

Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
~/Library/Application Support/SyncServices
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Quit the application if it's running. Move the selected item to the Trash. Relaunch the application and test.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return. -
I have an ipod touch (4th generation) & an iPhone 4s, both are acting similarly when attempting to search for music and/or purchase anything. it will do the loading "spinning wheel thing) at the top & if I search a song name, it will start to populate a list of my search results & like 99% of the time it goes black & sends me back to my home screen. If I make it past that & actually get the opportunity to click on the song I want to purchase, I'm never able to get all the way through my purchase before I am booted out! This problem has been plaguing me ever since the update - any ideas on how to make this stop? It is very frustrating as I would actually like to buy music for my pod & I can't manage to get it done!
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
iOS: How to back up your data and set up as a new device
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

Spinning wheel, system crashes, iTunes is crashing
Hi,
I am having major problems with my Macbook air. iTunes constantly crashes...I have some software issues where they crash as well... I constantly get the spinning wheel. So I did a EtreCheck and there are the results... Any help would be greatly appreciated....Diagnostic was done (holding D on start up) but I don't know how to test my hard drive... It's a new version and running Yosemite 10.10.1 which you'll see in the report. Thanks
Problem description:
I constantly get the spinning wheel. When I run verify disk, I get about 30 or 40 disk permissions to repair. iTunes isn’t working properly. Keeps crashing, reinstalled it still the same…

ITunes 11.1.3 constantly crashing on Macbook
I'm having major challenges with iTunes 11.1.3 on my Macbook with OS X 10.6.8
iTunes will constantly crash on startup.
However, if I turn wifi or Airport off then I can at least play some music.
I've followed the advice in posts with similarly reported issues to no avail.
I'm getting EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV) type issues but cannot pin point the root cause.
Please help....
here is the crash report.
Thanks in advance!

64bit iTunes for Windows 7 constantly crashing while accessing the store
Is anyone else having problem with iTunes recently, 12.1 is constantly crashing whenever I try to visit the iTunes store , even blowing away my iTunes directory and re-installing and starting afresh iTunes crashes almost immediately. iTunes is unusable like this.
What can I do to help diagnosis these problems? minidump? log file?So I believe the issue I see is related to the much reported JavaScriptCore.dll issues (the below is from my event viewer),,crashes with this signature are heavily reported, what I've also noted that if I am using my laptop at home rather than work iTunes doesn't crash. (I've tried all other items, reinstalling, making new iTunes folder, removing all Internet temp objects)
So clearly this is network related, obviously related to the network configuration.
However this is still the fault of "iTunes" a crash with an exception code of 0xc0000005 is an access violation, which means its most likely a NULL pointer deference or accessing corrupt memory.Surely Apple have seen this enough to warrant a fix.
I am also really surprised that Apple is not making an attempt to fix this, crashes like this which are highly reproducible are often the source for exploits
Here is hoping a future fix, for alas iTunes is currently usable.

Why does Itunes always crash when exiting?
I have 10.5 installed on Windows 7 64 bit. Almost everytime I exit itunes it crashes and I have to constantly go to the task manager to close it.
I've tried reinstalling but it doesn't seem to be helping. Help plz?I have read the using itunes in safe mode (pressing CTRL+SHIFT when you open it) helps the problem, although this is not a long term solution. If using itunes in safe mode does stop the problem, then there must be a 3rd party application that is causing the crash. I have turned off all non essential start up programs (through MSCONFIG) to see if that also helps, but haven't had the chance to test it out properly yet. I will let you know how I get on.

Ipad constantly crashing after updating to iOS 8.1.3.
ipad constantly crashing after updating to iOS 8.1.3. I can't restore it to factory settings. I can't even turn it off. It just keeps crashing and trying to reboot etc. Sometimes I see the black screen with the white apple and sometimes the screen is white. I saw it say "Hello" once, but then it crashed again. While rebooting, it does sync up with itunes briefly and is recognized. When I try to restore, it says I need to turn off "find my iphone" but I can't access any settings within the ipad to do that. Also, it tells me I need to enter my passcode to continue, but I can't do that either since the ipad is constantly in crash mode.
Hello millersmiller,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
The following article should help you troubleshoot your iphone not responding.

IPad original constantly crashing. Want to completely re-install OS.
My original iPad has been constantly crashing. I'm using iOS 5.0. I was at the Apple Store recently on another matter and the Genius there said I should re-install the OS from scratch but *not* do a restore. She said I should do everything manually, including re-installing all apps by hand. And only then should I restore data from the cloud.
Just want to confirm that I understood her correctly. Is this the correct way to proceed? If so, what's the outline of steps to take?Well, here's the unfortunate update from 6 days later. I wiped the iPad and only had iTunes update the firmware and the OS. Then, with nothing else installed, I tried out Safari. It crashed and burned. It was also sluggish and suffering from major latency...just like before. Not good.
Then, I installed a fresh copy of Netflix from the App Store. Tried to use the seach box. Typed a few characters and (just like before) it crashed and burned. So, the 2 litmus test apps I used to diagnose my initial problem didn't pass even the simplest smoke test on a newly paved iPad.
This can mean only 2 things: either my iPad is hosed in some way (bad memory maybe) or perhaps the original iPads are just not happy with iOS 5.0 or 5.1.
I'm not going to sit here and bash Apple, either. I'm an Apple fan boy *AND* a Windows fan boy. I love both platforms and do development work on both. But Apple has a reputation for coming out with new software that isn't compatible with earlier hardware platforms. That's how they do business, and it's what keeps them innovating. Microsoft tries to stay compatible with older platforms for as long as possible, and Microsoft hasn't innovated in years. It is what it is.
One of my memory tools for the iPad shows that after starting Safar and Netflix, I have less than 5 mb of RAM left on the system. Now, you don't need a CS degree to know that 5 megs of free RAM only *any* system is a recipe for disaster. I just don't think the old iPad version 1.0 was designed with multitasking in mind.
Any other suggestions would be appreciated. But at this point, I've already reinstalled everything from scratch using my backup so at least I haven't lost all of my personall settings. The iPad still crashes all the time, and I deal with it by trying not to run more than one app at a time. I guess Apple really wants me to "upgrade" to an iPad version 3.0... -
IPhone 4 constantly crashing because I updated to iOS 7!
Ever since I updated to iOS 7. My iphone 4 constantly crashes every time I do anything on it, for example starting apps! (BIG ISSUE) and they close and I have to restart them. Unlocking my iPhone is also slow. I had to remove my pass code due to my iPhone crashing when I was entering my code. Also when I go to take a picture my camera loading is also slow! Why is this? I thought an update was to make things better not worse! I will not be purchasing an apple product again! And I also have an iPad 2. I refuse to update because I know how bad iOS 7 is!! AWFUL update and I have always been with apple as my phone manufacturer! Never again sort it out!
Any help regarding my problem would be much appreciated!
Thank youreset all settings
settings- general- reset - reset all settings
now reconnect to wifi
settings - wifi- click network name - enter password - join

PeBIf you want to revert to 10.7 (and that aint such a bad idea) then follow this:
OK, first of all (assuming you on OSX10 +) make sure you're logged in as admin, navigate to the Application folder and right or option click iTunes.app and select "Get Info". Click the padlock, enter your password and change all the permissions to read and write. Close "Get Info" and simply delete the iTunes app.
Google iTunes 10.7 DMG and download it. Google and download Pacifist. It's shareware so when launched a timer will start and you'll have to wait a few seconds to use it, then a couple of pop ups will appear asking if you want to install some extras, choose to ignore them. Once Pacifist is open click the "Open Package" button and navigate to the iTunes DMG. In the window that appears click on the "Contents of Install iTunes.pkg" to highlight it. Then on the top left of the Pacifist window there is a downward arrow marked "Install". Click on that and let Pacifist run. Several pop ups will appear - choose to "Replace" to all.
When the installation has finished make sure iTunes is not open then navigate to your "Music/iTunes" folder. In that folder is a file named "iTunes Library.itl" - delete it. Then in the sub folder named "Previous iTunes Libraries" you'll see files with dates in the filename i.e. "iTunes Library 2012-12-05.itl". Copy and paste the one with the latest date to the main iTunes folder, where you deleted the previous .itl file, and rename it to remove the date.
Finally in the Apps/Utilities folder you'll find Disk Utility. Launch it and select the hard disk "Mac", then click the button "Repair Disk Permissions". This will take around 5 minutes or more (despite it saying it will take 2 minutes!!) and you'll see it repairing a lot of iTunes files but be patient it will finish. When done close Disk Utility and I'd suggest a reboot (although I didn't) and launch iTunes. You might need to sign in to your account again but maybe not and all should be good!!!
Good luck.

ITunes match crashing at step 3. Win7 x64 iTunes v10.6.3.25
I'm having the same problem as so many other people it seems - part of my library is matched and now I'm stuck with a constantly-crashing iTunes when it gets to step 3. I've checked for zero-length files or tracks where the track length is invalid - all clear. Checked for tracks that have their match status showing as 'error' - don't have any of those. I've really come to a dead end here - any other tips or advice?
I spent a while using sysinternals process monitor to see if I could find the source of the problem and it was always tripping up on a certain track recently ripped from CD (using iTunes). So I deleted that track and it crashed again but on a different track. After a while it became clear that it was all my long tracks that are causing the problem - and I have several hundred tracks that are over an hour long - DJ mixes, mix albums, stuff like that. Given that I'm not going to delete all these tracks (as I don't have sources to many of them any more) just to get iTunes match to work, is there any way I can flag these ones as "don't match" so they get skipped? Or any way I can take the remaining short tracks and force iTunes to manually match those?
Or am I just S.O.L until Apple admit there's a problem with very long tracks, and try to fix it?I don't see the long tracks as being a problem. If the tracks file size is below 200mb then they will upload but will take sigficantly longer. I have A LOT of long tracks. Some as long as 2 hours long but the file size is below 200mb. If your file sizes are larger than that they will become ineligible. You can change this by change your import settings and picking the create acc version under the advanced tab. I haven't noticed a lot of different things that may cause things to glitch up in my experience. I've don't about 6 different people's match accounts and windows seems to give a lot more problems than MAC does. Which would seem about right given that this an apple product. But if you will try taking your tracks that are messing it up and let itunes create a new acc version match will probably accept it.
There is no way to flag anything and tell iTunes match not to upload it. If it is in the library then it will try to be uploaded. There also is no way to force iTunes match to upload certain songs without doing all of them. If it seems that iTunes match is crashing then just restart is and see if it is a certain song and try the creating a new file method described above and a lot times it will go ahead and upload. as I said I have a lot of really long tracks and they all get uploaded eventually but it takes a lot longer.
You can delete the tracks out of itunes and do not press the move to recyle bin just press the keep file button and you can reimport them again later on. You do not loose your music by deleting from itunes unless you press the button that says move to recycle bin. Which you could get back out of the recycle bin if you don't empty it before you realize what you've done. Always check whats in your recycle bin before you empty it. -
3 210 gig ipods constantally crashing propible solution
I have 3 identical 120 gig ipod classic's that constantally crash and restart themselves. I mean these things crash every 1/2 hour to an hour. It has been driving me nuts for about a year and I have restored them many times with the same resault. I then thought there is no way that 3 ipods are reacting the same way with no reason so I started thinking. I have already tried diferent computers, same result, so it must be my libary files (all MP3 no itunes). I then searched for an MP3 file check freeware and found something called MP3val and ran it and it came up with thousands of file errors( i have about 20000 ) mostly the number of bits in the file tag didn't match the the number of bits actually in the file and extra junk at the end of the file. Anyway long story shortened apparentally I had alot of mp3 file errors which the program fixed and since i fixed them my ipod hasn't crashed once. I hope this helps sombody who was as frustrated as I was.
