ITunes constantly ignores me

My iTunes constantly ignores me. I tell it to add music, videos, or photoes to the library and it just ignores me. It won't add anything but I can cahgne things around like my playlists. The usual fix is to restart my computer and then it will work once to add whatever I want(but ONLY ONCE), so I would have to put everything I want to add into one folder then tell iTunes to add the folder. It only started doing this recently. Suggestions?

You neeed to be logged in as an adminstrator. Are you?
Right click on your iTunes Music folder and select properties, then the security tab.
You should see a list of users names. Is your user name on it? If so, select it and you should see your permissions. If not, you can add your username.
You need to have full control for your user name.
There is more on setting permissions on the following page

  • Itunes 11 ignores ratinga in newly added tracks - why???

I have just removed all the music tracks from my itunes library (running on Windows 7).  Then I added one folder that contained all my songs.
The songs were added but 95% of my ratings are gone.  It looks like only .mp4 files (likely the ones I got from Apple store) have their ratings set properly or as they were set in the metadata of the files.  It looks like all the other (mostly .mp3) files ended up with no ratings.  It took me a lot of time to rate these songs and make sure that the ratings were stored in the metadata of the files.  Now itunes 11 appears not to care about that at all...
Did anyone else notice that, i.e., had the same problem?  What is it?  I'd like to think that I did something wrong but I am affraid that Apple, in its wisodom is, yet again, is doing something that erases weeks of my work.  Why would itunes not read ratings for newly added mp3 files?  Windows Media Player reads the metadata properly for any mp3 or mp4 file added to its library.
Can anyone offer any inside view into this?   Any idea if it is me missing something, or is it a bug in itunes 11 or is it Apple telling me to buy all my music from the Apple store?
    Thanks.

I realized that the mp4 songs that have correct ratings were not really removed from my library - it looks like they are in the cloud.
In short it looks like itunes just ignores the ratings while adding new tracks.  But why???  It is so easy to reset ratings after reading tracks in and so difficult to add them...  What is the logic here...???  Thanks.

  • How do I get iTunes to ignore articles again?

Recently whenever I download a song where the artist has a definite or indefinite article in its name like "The Beatles", iTunes has been sorting that artist under the article instead of ignoring it like it had been doing. I know how to edit the file after it's already been downloaded. What I want to know is how do I get iTunes to ignore articles again when I download songs?

    You're welcome.
Not near my computer right now - using my iPhone, but it should be under general iPhoto preferences. If not available, this means you are using an older iPhoto version.
The same preference setting is available via Image Capture preferences with the Image Capture application located in your Applications folder. Image Capture is an alternative to use for importing photos on a Mac for those not interested in using iPhoto for this purpose.

  • I am now getting a error message of -9808. I have to sign in to iTunes constantly and now my disc drive will no longer play movies or anything. I have Windows XP Tablet Professional Version. Both companies are pointing the finger at each other.

I am losing my ability to play and listen to the music I paid for on iTunes. I have to constantly sign in, I am now getting an error message of -9808. I can not even play movies any more.  I am terrified to add iTunes to another computer. HELLLLLPPPPP!!!!!!

Netflix adapts to the connection. iTunes content is fixed, and will need to load a portion before playback begins.
It is best to troubleshoot the network to truly rule things out.
What is your current connection, via speedtest.net
Make sure DNS is set to automatic (settings - general - network)
    If on wifi try Ethernet
Make sure router is up to date, reboot along with ATV
There may also be ISP throttling

  • ITunes Constantly "Not Responding" in Windows 8

    Hi all,
iTunes has been giving me problems for the past while, constantly running incredibly slowing, and showing as "not responding" in my task manager.
PC is more then capable (processor, ram, etc, etc) of running it. I've tried the basic things, disabling other software, reinstalled iTunes, disabled firewalls, etc, but to no avail. I took a look through the forms and saw someone suggest copying a .dll file from common files to the iTunes folder, but that didn't yield any results either.
If anyone could point me in the right direction, or share any possible remedies for this situation, it would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Tyler

The links the support team provided do not solve the problem. On my computer there is nothing else running except Bonjour! It's running from both the "Program Files" and "Program Files (x86)" folders.
I solved the problem by deleting Bonjour. I would have tried deleting just one or the other of the two instances (I figured they were conflicting with each other), but when I went to uninstall it there was only one option and they both got deleted during the uninstall.
Now itunes seems to work properly, it does give a notification that certain aspects of the program wont work and "you have to uninstall and re-install itunes" to get Bonjour back. But, I don't mind because I only use it for podcasts so none of the broken features bother me and the notification when I open the program is just a single click to get rid of. So, if you do mind not being able to connect your ipod or things like that then this may not be your solution. But deleting Bonjour works for me.

  • How do I get iTunes to ignore my wife's iPhone

My wife has an iPhone and I have the iPod Touch. If her iPhone is connected to our Mac Pro, whenever I login to my account iTunes and iPhoto launch to try to sync her phone. How do I teach Leopard and the apps to ignore her device when I login? Likewise, we want her account to ignore my iPod when she logs in. Thanks.

  • Itunes constantly maximizes

    Hi there,
Since I ran an update this morning (to Vista plus a few drivers) iTunes has started to constantly maximize / focus itself every few seconds. as I've been writing this it's done it a few times already. It's driving me freaking bananas!
I'm on a Dell XPS M1530 with NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT
    Cheers!

Do you have Windows live messenger? If you're using Windows Live Messenger or have it running in the background, it can cause iTunes to popup from minimesed.
    - uncheck the option to show your current song as your personal message.

  • Itunes constantly trying to open in logged in users accounts on Vista

My new computer is constantly trying to open itunes in all logged in users accounts. Once it opens in one of the accounts it will continually make an error noise everytime it tries to open again because it obviously can only open in one account so the other accounts are getting the "unable to load.." message. When the logged in users go back into their account it will have what seems like 50 of the error messages. It is even trying to open in the users account that does not have an itunes account. This is very annoying. Please help! Thanks

If it is a new computer and you haven't installed anything except firefox, maybe there was something preinstalled on it. IIRC some Roxio software can be configured so that it starts up iTunes at system start for example.
One way to investigate this is to do a selective start up using MSConfig. Start off with just the essential items and the iTunes related programs as in this article.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2292?viewlocale=en_US
If the problem disappears with the selective startup, start adding stuff back a few items at a time until the problem comes back.
It's a bit of a sledge hammer to crack a nut I am afraid, but it should allow you to identify the problem.

  • Found a possible solution for iTunes constantly reopening

My iTunes kept reopening every time I closed it - like 20-30 times in a row, with me quitting, force quitting, etc., even as my force quit window was up. I would force quit the application but it's logo wouldn't disappear. Searching around on these forums I poked around a bit and figured out that when I hid my RAC (Red Alarm Clock widget, which works with itunes, though isn't constantly playing), I could quit without the icon popping right back up. So if you're having this problem you might try hiding (you don't have to delete it, just move it from the main dashboard) any widgets that work with iTunes.

  • Why iTunes constantly asks for permission?

"Do you want the application “iTunes.app” to accept incoming network connections?"
Why am I constantly getting these alerts when opening Yosemite 10.10.2?
Home Sharing is not turned on in iTunes12.

I've had this problem for ages but as I leave my iMac on just about all the time with iTunes running it wasn't much of a bother to keep clicking on the Allow button.  I had tried reinstalling iTunes many times but to no avail.  I finally got tired of it and spent some time researching the Internet and finally found the answer.  As usual the caveat regarding backups applies.  If you don't have a backup, don't do it.

The following terminal command and output shows that the "Signing" of iTunes is valid.  You don't need to do this to solve the problem but it will tell you if there is one.

    iTunes is OK
    ~ : codesign -v --verbose /Applications/iTunes.app

    /Applications/iTunes.app: valid on disk
    /Applications/iTunes.app: satisfies its Designated Requirement
    Itunes is NOT OK
    ~ : codesign -v --verbose /Applications/iTunes.app
/Applications/iTunes.app: a sealed resource is missing or invalid
    In architecture: i386
    resource added: /Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/DevicePrefsMobileMe.n ib/objects.xib
    resource added: /Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/Localized.rsrc
    resource added: /Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/SmartPlaylist.nib/obj ects.xib
        Or some such similar output.
If it isn't it will tell you by usually listing a bunch of files as above which have been moved into the iTunes.app container which don't belong.  They possibly could be from older versions of iTunes.  Don't know for sure but for whatever reason they mess up the "Signing".  The easiest way to correct this is to delete the iTunes app by first selecting it in the Finder and opening the Information window.  Go down to the Sharing & Permissions section, click on the Padlock symbol and enter your administrator password, set all the Privileges to Read & Write for all users and then close the Info window.  Move the iTunes app to the Trash and then empty the Trash.  Download the latest version of iTunes and install it.  Your "Do you want to allow..." dialogue window should disappear!

  • Why does itunes constantly need to update files?

I update my files manually on my iPod touch. Whenever it is plugged in, every few minutes iTunes says, "updating files," and takes a moment to update, I suppose. But while it is doing this, my iTunes becomes unresponsive if I try to do anything; play or change a song, or make changes to artist, album, etc on any song. As I am constantly updating my files to include album name, art, and other things, it seems to become unresponsive and need to be restarted almost every time I use iTunes. This is very aggrivating and I don't know how to make it stop??

Try posting in the iTunes forum.

  • Is iTunes constantly streaming?

My IT guy at work is making us all get rid of iTunes because he says that iTunes is constantly streaming (even when you are just listening to something from your iTunes library). Is he right or does he just want us all to switch to Windows Media Player because he has something against Apple and is sadistic?

Your IT person may be talking about Music Sharing, which does stream from one computer to another, but music sharing can be turned off and even disabled completely in the Parental pane of iTunes preferences. If your IT person has user-account level control on your computers, he can turn off Music Sharing (and Internet Radio and the iTunes Store) and lock them down with a password. More information about parental controls in iTunes can be found here.

  • HT203175 itunes constantly tries to access itunes store.

When I start up Itunes, it constantly tries to access itunes store.
I've cleared cache, reinstalled itunes, de-authorised and authorised to no avail.

I am having similar issues since I downloaded the newest version of itunes. On random songs from my library (mostly purchased through itunes) I am asked to authorize the playing of the song!! What the ****, obviously I want to play the song or I wouldn't have clicked on it! I payed for this music and I should be able to listen to it when and how I want, with or without an internet connection.
Someone please help me! I have never had any problems with itunes before, but this one is going to make me crazy!
