Itunes continuous play somehow disabled

I just set up a new pc, downloaded and installed iTunes, everything is working great... Except for some reason iTunes will not continuously play songs for some reason. Strange, I never really thought about it, but previously I would sort by Artist or Album. Double click on a song, and iTunes would automatically play the next song in the list when that song finished. Now it just stops after one song. I've highlighted an entire album, selected play, and it will still only play the first song in the list and stop. I am litterally at the point where I have to select one song at a time and it's getting REALLY old!
Thanks for any help!

Make sure all the little boxes (next to each song) are checked. If not, you can do them all at once, just hold the CTRL key and click any one of them.

  • ITunes continuous play check boxes and iPhone sync

Hi  Here is my problem..if I want iTunes to play each songs on my library one after the other the check boxes have to be marked BUT if I synch my iPhone with iTunes I don't want to upload on it all of my songs then I check/uncheck only the albums I want to upload.. So now, I can't play one after the other, on my MBP, the songs which are not synched on iTunes because of the check boxes? I miss something?  Thanks, ciao!

Use playlists for syncing. One or more regular and/or smart to suit your needs.
Checkboxes are best for marking the occasional unchecked track as something you won't want to hear unintentionally, e.g. interview tracks or holiday music out of season.

  • ITunes "keeps playing" once all search results have been played

I'm not sure if this is an error or how iTunes was intended to operate but I find it INCREDIBLY annoying.
If I perform a search and, say, 5 songs are returned I expect iTunes to play those 5 songs and STOP. Yet it does not do this - it just keeps playing the next song in my library that would normally follow the last song played, even though that song does NOT match my search, and is NOT displayed on screen.
This is ridiculous. iTunes continues playing songs that fall outside my search parameters - this is an awful logic hole.
How can I fix this? I keep waiting for each new version to correct this problem but it keeps going on. At this point I have to believe this is just more horrible and backwards apple-logic.

Update: I was just playing with this more, and it's worse than I'd described. I searched for an artist - we'll just say "Artist A". Two songs from two albums matched my search "Song 1" and "Song 2"
So on screen, I see two albums, each album displays on song. If I hit Play, I expect iTunes to play these two songs, back to back. Sounds logical right?
It doesn't. It plays "Song 1", and then instead of playing "Song 2" it plays whatever song comes after "Song 1" chronologically in my iTunes library. I'd essentially have to wait for iTunes to just play every song in between Song1 and Song2 for it to actually get to, and play, Song2.
    This is horrible!
How can I fix this? Is this bug related to the Window version only?

    Hi brett242424,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
The movie would be in your iTunes library, in the Movies application.  However, if the rental period has expired, you may need to contact the iTunes Store Support about your situation:

  • No continuous play in iTunes

Recently, when I'm in iTunes, I cannot get it to do continuous play in playlists or otherwise. It just plays one song and then stops. If I hit the fast forward button, the song stops. The songs are all checked, so that is not the problem. I've restarted the computer and that doesn't seem to help either.
We recently upgraded to Leopard. Not sure if that has anything to do with it. Any help is much appreciated so I can listen to my Christmas music playlist in time for the holidays!

OK, I see I didn't read your post carefully enough, but the behaviuor your describe is typical of unchecked music.
I wonder if it is worth unckecking your tracks and then rechecking them.
Something else you might try is close iTunes and drag iTunes library.itl and iTunes Music library.xml somwhere convenient out side the iTunes music folder, then restart iTunes so you get a new library created - then add you music againa and see if the problem clears. This is just a test to see if there is something funny going on in the library. You can put the originals back afterwards.
I don't want to suggest anything more complex as I am a Windows person and I know nothing about macs.

  • STOP continuous play of songs in itunes Iphone4

    Talk about irritating! ha!
I DO NOT want continuous play of songs in Itunes ON MY IPHONE 4.  How can I stop this?
I tried unchecking ALL of my songs (entire library) in Itunes on my PC.....and that works for NOT having continuous play on the PC......and then I re-synced my Iphone....after deleting all music from the Iphone............ but the songs still play continuously.    I do not mean the library of songs is looped.   I know how to use the "repeat" functions.
I just want Itunes to stop playing music after ONE song.   I am using Iphone to perform music and need to talk in between songs.
    HELP!
    Thanks in advance

I suspect it is a feature very few people want. However, if it's important to you, you should let Apple know:

  • Songs won't continuous play in playlist on itunes, Please Help!!

Just recently when I try to play my music on my computer on itunes it won't continuous play in my playlists. Just one song at a time. I cannot figure it out. Can anyone help? Any suggestions?

The songs in this particular playlist are unchecked because they are all AAC conversions that I load on my nano. For normal iTunes use, I have my songs in 320 kps. mp3s--but the files are too big for the Nano. So I keep this playlist, and uncheck the songs so I don't have duplicates playing in my regular libary. The songs don't play when checked and unchecked are together, but when it's just the complete unchecked song list they play in random order continuously until I stop them manually.
good lord ... i don't believe i've ever seen that reported before. (no real surprise, i guess ... how would people realise that something strange was happening if it was happening to them? that would keep report levels down ...)
can anyone else replicate samdogmom's itunes behavior?
    love, b
ps: didn't we talk months ago about upgrading to NIS 2006? if so, how's that treating you?

  • ITunes starts fast forwarding tracks after 1hours continuous play?

Hi I have recently updated windows XP on my computer to service pack three. After this update when I am listening to iTunes it suddenly started playing the songs in my library too quickly as if it was stuck on fast forward.
If you stop itunes playing then press play or select a different track it continues to play too fast. The only way to fix the problem is to close itunes and re-open it.
I have now found that this problem starts after iTunes has been playing music for just over an hour, so currently I'm having to close and re-open itunes ever hour to keep listening to music.
Any Idea why this might be happening?
I'm running XP SP3, 3GB ram, 3GHz processor, 200GB HD no where near full. Its iTunes version 8.2.1.6.
    Thanks
    Liam

Anyone else have this problem? I have now timed the problem to exactly 1hour 9minutes of continuous play, so if you play for 30 mins, pause for 15 then play iTunes starts fastforwarding 39 minutes later.

  • How To Stop Itunes From Continuous Play?

I'd like to only play one album at a time in Itunes on my computer but continuous play seems to be automatic and there are no options to control this in the Itunes preferences...?
I notice it happens a lot but it happens 100% of the time if I enter a name/style in the search bar of Itunes. For example if I enter "rock" in the Itunes search bar Itunes will play every single rock album even if I only pick a single album or even track to play.

I don't. I make them only for certain favorites I play a lot. I also use the search and let it bring up the person or songs I want and play from the playlist that way too. That is one thing I love about itunes. There are sooo many options for playing

  • Itunes continues to download old podcasts i have played

With this latest update, iTunes continues to download old podcasts I have already played and deleted.
Is this an iTunes problem or is there a setting a missed with the update?
    Thanks,
    Don

No. Those purchases/downloads were made with her Apple ID and are permanently linked to it. To download those updates you will need her credentials regardless of which Apple ID is signed into iTunes.

  • Setting iTunes to play continuously

iTunes now plays one song and stops. How do I get it to continue advancing through my list of songs and playing them?

I found it. The buttons used to be at the bottom of the screen, but they've now (I don't know when this was done) been moved to the top of the window where the song playing and the progress bar are displayed. They become visible when you play a song, and the button you need is the one on the left. Incidentally, while looking for this, I found that I'm not the only way who hates the latest versions of iTunes. I found a page where everyone shared my belief that it was one of Apple's bigest mistakes.
