ITunes Corruption after Xcode Install

Hi All
I'm hoping some-one can help.
Up until earlier this week everything was perfect with iTunes and my 2nd gen iPod Touch. I then installed xCode 4.0 from the Apple App Store. Everything appeared to go smoothly. However, now whenever I plug my Itouch in I get the following message:
iTunes was unable to load data class information from Sync Services. Reconnect or Try again Later.
There is then the OK button which I press and synce does take place WITHOUT the normal backup. I then get the following message:
iTunes could not back up the iPod <Name of iPod> because the backup session failed.
The sync has been successful but obviously the backup has had issues and App/tunes etc are all updated as they should be.
I have "Restored my iPod back to factory settings and using the most up to date versions of iPod firmware and iTunes itself.
It obvious that the Xcode 4 install has screwed something up as it was fine before and problematic afterwards. Removing Xcode I don't think would resolve the situation and I do not feel removing and reinstall iTunes would help either (but I don't know).
Has anyone any help they can offer??
Cheers

Just found this, followed it and it fixed the fault for me, and by the sound of it, you have the exact same fault, so i think its worth a shot.

  • ITunes corrupted after installing iLife 08

I can no longer launch iTunes following install of iLife 08. Error message says "copy of iTunes corrupt or not installed properly" "Re-install iTunes".
Is teh solution as simple as downloading iTunes 8 from the Apple site? How might this affect my existing iTunes library and authorization?

Same here. I recently had a memory module go bad and a bunch of stuff got corrupted, so I had to wipe the disk, install new memory, and reinstall everything starting with OS X. Since all of my old iLife apps were gone (They were not on the disks I got with the Mini), I had to get iLife '08.
Before I installed iLife '08 I recovered my iTunes library from my 30 GB video iPod using TinkerTool, and it all worked fine. After installing iLife '08, I got the "iTunes is corrupted or not installed correctly" error message (Oh NOES!!!11!!).
All you have to do to fix this is, 1) Download iTunes 8.0.1 from Apple, and, 2) click on UPGRADE. Your iTunes library will still be there (Mine was, anyway).
    Cheers,
    George

  • Itunes corrupted after update. asking to reinstall itunes

After I updated my itunes i clicked to open it an this message appears.
This copy of itunes is corrupted or not installed correctly. Please reinstall itunes.
My mac is. Mac book pro 5, mac os x version 10.6.8
    Please help!!

    Just had this problem myself.
    Here's the fix.
1: Restart your computer and hold Command + R
This will take you to a screen with roughly 4 options. Choose Disk Utility.
    2. Using the "first aid" option, choose the hard drive and then hit repair disk (on mine, there was a hard drive, and a subquent one underneath, I repaired both).
    3. NOTE! The first time I did this, it failed and said something along the lines of "reinstall your OS, etc....". I just restarted my computer and repeated steps 1-2.
    4. Upon doing this a second time, the disk was repaired, I restarted again to get to my home screen, Wait ~40 minutes for spotlight to finish indexing, your computer will run slow until spotlight finished indexing so just let it do its thing.
    5. Uninstall Itunes by dragging to trash bin and erasing.
    6. Reinstall Itunes from the itunes website, for me, all my music was saved and I did no special steps, so I imagine it will be the same for you.
    Hopefully this works for you!

  • Can't open itunes,even after un-installing and then re-installing!

I keep getting the following error message when trying to open itunes on my pc.
'The folder "itunes" cannot be found or created, and is required. The default location for this folder is inside the "my music" folder.'
This error message appeared even after un-installing and re-installing itunes.
I conducted a search for the 'my music' folder, and it came up with nothing.
    Please help!

If you truly don't have a folder named C/......./My Music, there are bigger problems with that PC.
That folder is a default windows XP folder and should be there.
The file extensions setting is easy to change. Win Explorer > Tools > Folder options
    http://www.fileinfo.com/help/windows-show-extensions.html
If your music folder really doesn't exist, see if you can do the shift-start and CREATE a new library. It will be blank, but at least that will tell us if itunes can even start. It will NOT run without an ITL library file.

  • Itunes 'corrupt' after upgrading to current version?

I have macbook, running snow leopard 10.6.8.  This weekend I responded to the prompt to update Itunes to the newest version.  After upgrading, I got the message that Itunes was corrupt (and it would not open or run).  After searching for answers (including trying to update it again), I finally went through the process of deleting the corrupt Itunes.
Then I have attempted to download the latest Itunes from the Apple site; when I click 'download' I am taken immediately to the 'thank you for downloading Itunes' page, but nothing ever downloads.....
Any help/input would be most appreciated.
    thanks,
    Randy

Thanks but ITunes is gone (deleted corrupt version), and would not open before I deleted it. I had previously tried Yiur suggestion, then iTunes wouldn't even open after that.

  • Error message & I can't open iTunes even after re-installing the disc!

When i try to open itunes the following message appears..."iTunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing. Please reinstall iTunes."
Im not sure if the fact i accidently removed Quicktime (not realising its importance) may have affected this. But i have reinstalled it and the same error message is returning!
If i completely remove iTunes, will i lose music from my iPod or just my library?
Any ideas would be much appreciated!

    Hi beachy85!
When you remove iTunes, your music on your computer (and your iPod, too) will be saved.
    Let's try this:
Go to "Add or remove programs" in Control Panel.
Find iTunes and QuickTime from this list, and remove them both.
Then, download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility to remove the remainging installation files.
For information on the WICU, see this:
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
Then, go to this page, and QuickTime (get the Standalone version, not the one that includes iTunes in the pack):
    QuickTime download
Then, install iTunes from this page here:
    Download iTunes - 7.1.1.5
After you've done that, restart your computer.
Now, try opening iTunes again. Do you still get that error message, or not?

  • I cannot open itunes 11 after the instalation !!

after making the instalation of itunes 11 i cannot open it , in windows xp !!

You may be able to get a more helpful error message by looking in the Windows Event viewer:
    To open the event viewer:
    Control Panel>>Administrative Tools>>Event Viewer
Or type Event Viewer into the search box.
    Then select Windows Logs>>Application
Open the Event viewer immediately after iTunes crashes.
The error message should be at or near the top.
Double click on it to open more information and press copy.
Paste the result into your post.
You are looking for a message starting something like this:
    Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
    Application Name: iTunes.exe
    Application Version: 10.2.1.1
    Application Timestamp: 4d756476
    Fault Module Name: iTunes.dll
There is general help on troubleshooting launch failures here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1717
If would be a good idea for you to start working through it and let me know how you get on.
The first step is to establish if the error is related to one account or all accounts.

  • Itunes crashes after leopard install

A few days ago I was running itunes 7.6 on Tiger, no problem at all. After upgrading to Leopard I can't get itunes to start up! It just crashes at startup.
    I tried the following things:
    http://www.maclife.com/article/fixcrashing_itunes_inleopard <- no good
and tried to delete itunes 7.6 completely and in install itunes 7.5 <- even worse
    Help!

I've found that iTunes has just started crashing - it seems pretty random, but has done it a lot over the last 24 hours. I don't know what's changed.
What are the least destructive things one can do to fix things? I've got many complex playlists, and I don't want to lose them, or information such as play counts.
I've tried deleting the plist file from Usr/Library/Preferences, but although iTunes took a long time restarting after that, it still crashes.
Thanks koffiemetkoeken for the above tip: I discovered I had a plug-in called "Quartz visualiser" or somesuch that I never knew I had, and I've just removed it. Let's hope it solves it for me ...
If that doesn't work, I'm going to try recreating my library as in:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93313
You might try that too, if you haven't already. I don't know how destructive (of things like playlists and playcounts) it is, though.
I'm open to other suggestions. I've tried emptying caches, repairing permissions etc.

  • Yoga 2 Pro BIOS UI corrupted after clean install Win 8.1 Pro

    Hi all.
First of all sorry for my bad English.
    And here is my problem:
I just bought a new laptop "Yoga 2 Pro". Because I have a legal copy of Windows 8.1 Pro I decided to reinstall the system. Before re installing BIOS UI looked normal but after re installation of the operating system BIOS UI looks strange and can not use it. You can see it on the attached photos. I tried to reinstall the system a few times but immediately after installation BIOS UI looked like in the pictures. Interesting that after removing system from SSD, BIOS UI is starting to look normal and is fully functional. I even tried different versions of the operating system because I thought that the cause lies with the ISO file. The effect has always been the same.
Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this problem?
I will be grateful for any suggestions.

I did try removig the Lenovo energy management software, but that didn't work. I also then reinstalled and tried setting it to Performance mode. However, I didn't look for a Windows power mgmt solution.
What's weird is that after I powered down and used the Novo button to check the BIOS version (just to confirm what I said earlier), when I restarted Windows again I did not see the Hyper-V error message. I haven't restarted again, but will check again tomorrow morning when Windows starts again.

  • Cannot connect to iTunes Store after iOS installed on iPad wifi 3rd generation

My iPad 3rd generation was just updated to iOS yesterday without any problems. I can use the Internet and the wifi network just fine.
But, I am unable to access the iTunes store no matter what I have done. I reset the router / modem. I am really ****** that this has happened. At home there are no problems. There is nothing that I have done that caused this as far as I can tell. I took my Apple ID off and then put it back on the iTunes & App Store a number of times. Nothing works. It keeps asking me to Sign In and then it says I can't

    Hey tpolevoy,
Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like you can't connect to iTunes store on the iOS device. A frustrating situation for sure. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you resolve or isolate the issue.
Can't connect to the iTunes Store
Troubleshoot issues on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
If you haven't been able to connect to the iTunes Store:
Make sure your date, time, and time zone are correct in Settings > General > Date & Time.
Note: Time Zone may list another city in your time zone.
Make sure that your iOS software is up to date by tapping Settings > General > Software Update (iOS 5 or later) or connecting your iOS device to iTunes and clicking Check for Update on your device's Summary page.
Check and verify that you're in range of a Wi-Fi router or base station. If you're on a device with cellular service, make sure that cellular data is turned on from Settings > General > Cellular.
Note: If connected to cellular data, larger items may not download. You may need to connect to Wi-Fi to download apps, videos, and podcasts.
Make sure that you have an active Internet connection. You can check the user guide for your device for help with connecting to the Internet.
Make sure that other devices (portable computers, for example) are able to connect to the Wi-Fi network and access the Internet.
Try resetting (turning off and then on again) your Wi-Fi router.
If the issue persists, try troubleshooting your Wi-Fi networks and connections.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Have a nice day,
    Mario

  • Partition Corruption after Update Install

The last two times I've attempted to run an Apple software upgrade installation I've ended up with my Hard disk partition getting hosed and having to repartition (and OS reinstall). Has anyone else have this problem?
BTY: In both cases the software upgrade failed to run successfully, the last time it failed in the OS 10.4.9 upgrade.

    Thanks Hal.
I thought I could delete, but wasn't confident.
I have deleted them and no problems :-)

  • Deleting album artwork from Itunes 6 after upgrading to Itunes 7

I recently upgraded to Itunes 7, and I want to delete some of my album artwork that I added in Itunes 6. I backed up my entire library and imported it into Itunes 7 after I installed it. Some of my album artwork consists or low-res clipart, and I want to update my entire library with new album artwork. When I choose "get album artwork", Itunes doesn't update my music with the new artwork. I also tried the "get info" submenu, and there isn't any artwork listed in the window, though it shows the artwork in the album srcolling window. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

This info is included in the song tag, you have to edit the individual song tag to change the artwork. To do this, right click on the song with bad artwork, then choose the first option "get info". A box will open, click on the artwork tab (you may have several pieces or artwork here--delete the ones you don't like. It's possible the good art you want will be one of the choices. Make sure this appears first in the list and then you'll see it in iTunes. If you need to add the artwork, click the add button and browse/find the artwork you want to add.
    Hope this helps!

  • This copy of iTunes is corrupted or not installed properly ? Help

    Hi,
After starting up iTunes I received en error message: "This copy of iTunes is corrupted or not installed properly". So I downloaded the latest version via apple but it fails to re-install because there is already a later version of iTunes on my mac ? So iTunes is corrupted, I get the advise to reinstall but I can't because the install prog refuses to do so. Please help !
I am running OSX 10.7.3 on an intel MacBookPro with the latest iTunes installed (as far as I know).
    Thanks in advance,
    Mark

Not to worry. The package downloaded by Software Update seemed to be b0rken.
    I fixed it like this:
    Download iTunes 9.0.2 here:
    http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite.net/content.info.apple.com/iTunes9/061-7197. 20091029.tnz9f/iTunes9.0.2.dmg
That disk image unpacks an .mpkg (meta package) whereas Software Update downloaded a folder containing packages. Looks like it just unpacked on download instead of install.
