Itunes could not backup the iphone because an error occurred

I can sync my iPhone but cannot backup.  Keep getting this message, "itunes could not backup "name" iphone because an error occurred.  I already deleted all previous backups.

Hi there, I am getting the same error - have you managed to solve it?

  • TS2529 iTunes  could not backup the iphone because an error occurred

I have iphone 4S 64GB. When I tried to backup today I get the message :  "Itunes  could not backup the iphone because an error occurred". I have tried with restoring my iphone and received the same error message. I am using iTunes 11.0.4.4 and my iphone has IOS 6.1.3. I also tried to backup my iPhone (right click on your iPhone under devices and click Back Up) but w/o any success. Can anybody help please.

Unfortunately the problem continues. I deleted the backup in the way described, but could not create a new one as the same message appears.
There is no any error code.
At the same time I have the problem to sign in into my Apple ID account. This started when tried to activate my imessage or face time. It gives me the followin message: "Could not sing in. Please check your nework connection and try again." or Could not sing in. Apple ID or password is incorrect." I know that both is OK. Network connection works fine and my password and Apple ID is correct. I log into my Apple account in iTunes without any problems. Should I restore my iPhone to factory settings or there is other solution to this problem.
    Thanks

    Hello there Justin,
I found a nice lil gem about troubleshooting backup issues with iTunes from an iOS device. Named iOS: Troubleshooting backup issues in iTunes it can be found here http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2529.
Here is a general over view of what the troubleshooting will entail. Each section has instructions in the article.
Simply restarting the computer and the iOS device may resolve a backup issue. After restarting, attempt to restore again. Learn how to restart your iOS device.
To perform the rest of steps in this article, you need to be logged in to the computer as an administrator. If you're not sure if you have administrator access, contact the owner of the computer or the system administrator.

  • HT4972 itunes could not restore the iphone because an error occurred

Attempting to update wife's 3GS to latest iOS 5.1.1... update downloaded in iTunes... iPhone backed up as far as I can tell apps, contacts and everything like pictures and stuff... system was pushed to the firmware/software update up until the point of restoring from the backup all of the above files that should've been stored... an error message as in the SUBJECT line pops up and then next dialog is error code (-1).
iTunes shows that a 'new' iPhone has been attached and the options are to setup a new iPhone or restore from backup... i try selecting the desired phone backup from the drop down (listed are two phones labeled as phone #1 - mine, #2-hers)... error occurs everytime... haven't tried choosing my phone. I'm hoping the phone isn't bricked at this point as it's sitting with the Apple icon on screen and that's it.
Any help would be appreciated rather than having to go to the 'Genius'es at an Apple store that never seem to be any help at all.

  • Itunes could not restore the iphone because an error occured???

Please help in restoring iphone.. i can see only loading page but not going to Home screen.

We need a lot more information. What is the error message (including the error number)? What is your computer and operating system? Are you connecting the phone to a USB port on your computer or a hub (it should not be a hub)? Have you disabled your antivirus and firewall? Is the phone jailbroken? Has the computer you are using ever been used to jailbreak any iOS device (not just the phone with the problem)?

  • ITunes could not backup the iPhone because the iPhone is disconnected

    Hi,
I've iPhone 5 and it has ios 6.1.2. I'm using windows 8. While I'm syncing the iPhone, I've an error that is saying "iTunes could not backup the iPhone because the iPhone is disconnected". I did nearly everything to backup but I couldn't achieve it.
Could someone help me to fix this problem please?

    Hey Lawrence,
A big THANK YOU!! to you! Your suggestions worked!
Before I changed USB ports (more on that in a sec...), I employed one of your suggestions that you gave to someone else with the same problem...and that was to clean the connector on the bottom of the phone with a soft dry tooth brush. I couldn't believe the amount of lint that came out! Especially what was found in either end...had to do some very careful picking. (Almost enough lint to knit a small sweater!!)
Changing the USB port was the second and final step required for a successful backup. My computer is a laptop, and I did have a USB Bluetooth adapter (for another device) installed. I removed  the adapter, plugged the iPhone into that USB port, crossed my fingers...and it worked!!!
Now if I can figure out the rest of this darn program, I might upgrade to a new iPhone!
Again, thank you very much Lawrence!

  • Hi all, I'm trying this morning to make the backup of my iPhone from 32 gigabytes. When I start the synchronization and backup I get written'' iTunes could not back up iPhone because an error occurred. I tried it on another iphone (4) and everything works

Hi all, I'm trying this morning to make the backup of my iPhone from 32 gigabytes. When I start the synchronization and backup I get written'' iTunes could not back up iPhone because an error occurred. I tried it on another iphone (4) and everything works fine. I can not reset the device because I have too much important data on it. Please help me.

Ok I tried to delete the backup by using your location via preferences, but I did not find any file, maybe because I've already deleted following the path to the disk. I repeat that I have 2 devices and the problem only occurs on one

  • I am getting an error message on my itunes when trying to back up my iphone 4s, itunes could not back up iphone because an error occurred.

Please help me!!!! I have tried all of the steps that I have found listed for this issue. I am not sure if I should try to contact my phone provider or not. I am getting an error message without an error code. That says:  Itunes could not back up Iphone because an error occurred. Please if anyone one knows any steps I should take please let me know. My iphone and Mac and iTunes are all up to date.
    Itunes: Version:  11.0.2
    MacBook Pro:  OSX: 10.8.3
    iphone4s:  iOS 6.1.3
    Thank you

    Excellent!
    Please note the following:
Note: iCloud Backup does not back up music, movies, and TV shows that you did not purchase from the iTunes Store, or any podcasts, audio books, or photos that you originally synced from your computer. iCloud Backup will restore your purchased music, movie, and app content from the iTunes and App Stores during the background restore process. Previous purchases may be unavailable if they are no longer in the iTunes Store, App Store, or iBookstore.
The above comes from this article:
Choosing an iOS backup method (Should I use iTunes or iCloud to back up my iOS device?)
    Best of luck with this.

  • ITunes could not backup the iPhone because...

When trying to back up my iPhone I get the message "iTunes could not backup the iPhone "Alex's iPhone" because the backup could not be saved on the computer"
I am running Windows XP SP3, iTunes 9.0.2 and OS 3.1.2 on my 3GS. None of the solutions to this problem I have come across have worked. I have tried:
    - Deleting the back up through iTunes
    - Deleting the whole back up folder manually
    - Uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes and all related components
    - Adding the back up folder to the exception list of AVG's resident shield
    - Creating a back up on another machine to transfer to the PC I use (I could not move the back up file, would not let me copy it to a flash drive)
As I could create the back up on another PC I suspect the problem is with the PC rather than the iPhone. I do not want to try restoring the iPhone as I don't have a back up so will lose all my info!
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, I am getting very frustrated with this problem.
