ITunes could not connect - timed out

For the past year I've had no problems using iTunes and my Ipod. But for the past month I can't connect properly to iTunes. I get a message saying: "iTunes could not connect to the iTunes store. The Network connection timed out. Make sure your network settings are correct etc etc". Not sure, but this may have occurred after I installed AVG bug software. Anyway, what am I supposed to do to "make sure my network settings are correct?" Any help appreciated. Thanks. Lloyd

Hmmm...no replies so far. OK, can anyone tell me how to uninstall iTunes from my PC and then re-install it, as I can't work out how to do this. Will I lose any cash credit I currently have on my present iTunes installation? And will I have to adopt a new ID if I re-install? Thanks in anticipation. Lloyd

I am having trouble with iTunes,
Message: "iTunes could not connect to the iTunes store. The network conection timed out. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active then try again."
Im not sure when exactlt this happend, it may have been after i downloaded an iTunes update, but I cant be sure. Other than that nothing else has really changed. I have now had this problem for a couple of weeks.
I am running windows Vista (32 bit System)on my HP Laptop and have ADSL and am able to run explorer and all other non-apple software.
I have tried all other advice offerd in the various supports:
1. re-installed iTunes
2. Checked all firewall settings - even removed Norton security (currently just operating on windows Visat security and have checked all that)
3. changed "host" file to "back-host"
4. played around and tested various internet settings
I hope this information helps to solve the problem. I have also recently found some other information which may be useful:
Although I do not use "safari" as an internet explorer, this does not work on my system either. I have re-installed this to see if it helps but am still unable to connect to the apple store (home page) on safari. I have looked up the support site for safari but have thus far be unable to find any helpful information to solve the problem.
Please help this is very frustrating...

I upgraded this morning and was able to buy tracks. Now I get "Itunes could not connect to iTunes Store.The Network connection timed out. Running Nework Connectivity Test shows everything ok. Apple Sw Update application shows the same behavior. All of my other applications and programs run normally. I can surf web ok.

Search the forums. This is an old problem. For almost everyone it's a Norton issue. I had to upgrade from Norton 360 V1 to V2 to solve the problem. With otehr versions of Norton people have been able to create an entry in the firewall's allowed sites and that fixed it. If nothing else call Norton. They should have had enough calls by now they'll be able to tell you how to fix it for your version of Norton.

I am having similar issues except that the store starts to load, then stops, then I only get iTunes Store in gray letters on a white screen. I can access playlist and the other stuff. Like flamesgirl, I contacted them and they just keep sending me links of stuff to try which I had already seen on the Apple website and nothing works. I posted the question on another forum I belong to and one responder said her husband was in an Apple store and asked about this problem as he was having the same issue. If you are using a USB hub, don't. Connect directly to the computer. Disconnect all other USB devices except for keyboard and mouse.

The soft boot (home button and power button) probably works.
I just did a hard boot by turning off power to my Ipad Air.
The device time out is a USB error from what I have read.
I am guessing the Ipad air has yet to recognize the type of USB port it is connected to over the usb cable.
Rebooting by soft reboot or a hard reboot causes it to sense the USB port and adapt accordingly.

I had the same problem !
I eventually contacted my ISP which is Orange and to my surprise they were aware of the problem ad said it would be sorted soon.
6 hrs later I was able to open iTunes.
