ITunes could not connect to the iPhone "iPhone" because the pairing record

I just bought an iPod, and at home it fails to work and sync up on my Mac G5, OS X 10.4.11
I get the red stop sign with an exclamation point come up with this statement of error:
"iTunes could not connect to the iPhone "iPhone" because the pairing record is missing."
I had that error a number of times, rebooted the iPhone, then now I consistently get this error:
iTunes could not connect to the iPhone "iPhone" because an unknown error occurred (0xE80000001)."
Does anybody have any clue what I might do? And yes, it is iTunes 8 that I have running.

Try disconnecting your phone from your computer, quit iTunes, connect you phone to your computer again, the re-launch iTunes.

  • ITunes could not connect to this iPhone because of an unknown error occurred (0xE800007F)

iTunes to iPhone 4 wireless sync fails.  iTunes gives me this message:
iTunes could not connect to this iPhone because of anunknown error occurred (0xE800007F)
    Windows 7 Pro - (Lastest & Greatest)
    iPhone 4 - ios 5.0.1 (Lastest & Greatest)
    iTunes 10.5.1.42 (Lastest & Greatest)
A Google search has found a number of other iPhone owners having the same problem, but no resolution.  Anyone have a fix for this issue?

Hi Annette, i think itunes keeps booting itself because either your ipad or iphone or ipod touch has 'Open iTunes when this ##### is connected' selected in its properties.
to fix, connect whichever device you have to itunes using a cable, select the device in the left colmn and under the 'Summary' tab, deselect 'Open iTunes when this #### is connected'
This was doing the same thing to me. drove me mad.
I too am also having the same issue as the original poster with the cant connect message.

itunes could not connect to this iphone because an unknown error occured (0xE8000003)
tried uninstalling itunes and restarting reinstalling, didnt change problem.

The article may not explicitly mention the error code but it does say +the error may be the same as above but end with a different number+. I've now found a forum on another site (http://forum.upsb.info/showthread.php?t=2813&page=2&s=f1904afbf5d4475d933fabcb9b 022f7e last post) that says :
1, Go to the folder C:/Program Data/Apple/Lockdown (in Vista or 7)
    2, Delete SystemConfiguration (system file)
As I havn't had the error I don't know whether the above fixes it - and if you try it I'd suggest taking a backup or renaming the file, not deleting it, in case it doesn't work and you want to restore the file.

Lets see - your post has absolutely nothing to do with what the OP posted in a thread which has been dead for over 2½ years!  Did you even bother to read what you "answered"?

  • ITunes could not connect to this iPhone because an unknown error occurred (0xE80007F)

Recieved this error while syncing the IPod classic, however, the IPhone was not connected to the computer, was no where near the computer.
In addition, I had earlier in the day the following error message as well: ITunes could not connect to the IPone "Merci's IPone" because an invalid response was received from the device."  In this situation, again the IPod classic was syncying music, and the phone was not even in the house.
The day previously, I had the following error as well: ITunes could not connect to the IPone because of unknown error occurred (0XE80002D).
When I called Apple Support, the first person could not find a response or answer to fix or give a reason why this is happening, since he said the last error is normally resulting from when the cable has a connection problem; well the IPhone was never connected to the computer--the IPod Classic was during these incidents.  When a senior advisor came on line, he wanted me to reboot my computer, but I was still in the middle of the IPod Sync of music so that could not happen. Which his answer was, well then call back and talk with a apple support person when it completes--my thought was if the first person couldn't figure it out and required a senior advisor, what is going to happen when I call back--I repeat myself and wait and repeat myself again to another senior advisor and then do some archaic steps to discover they don't know what is wrong?  I am waiting on a few other problems they haven't figured out yet. I am a new Apple user and have had nothing but problems with Apple IPhone, IPad and guess IPod Classic all which I purchased with high recommendations that Apple is better than windows products and Android products.  I am wondering what the **** I got myself into?
Can anyone help me? It is getting frustrating that Apple can not seem to help with any of the situations I seem to be having!
    Thanks in advance.

I have had this same issue with my iPhone 4 since iOS 5 was released.  None of the updates has fixed it yet. I'm using Windows 7 Pro (64 bit), and iTunes 10.5.3   I am not encrypting my backups.  I do have my phone set to passcode lock after 1 hour.  When I have enabled WiFi sync in iTunes, I get the error message described in this thread at least once every day.  In the morning, when I first open iTunes, I will have to click this window sometimes 8 to 10 times to get it to finally dismiss and begin the sync process.
It's apparent that iTunes is hung up whenever this message is present.  It's not downloading podcasts during the night, or performing the WiFi sync while my phone is charging in the other room.  Nothing works until I sit in front of iTunes and click off the error message.  If I am required to do that in order to get the phone to update, I should just plug it in and disable the WiFi sync hassles until/if it ever gets fixed.

  • How do I fix this error message:iTunes could not connect to this iPhone because an unknown error occured (0xE8000082)

I keep getting this message and don't know what to do to fix it.  I've checked and I have both the latest operating system and iTunes.  I also have the latest O/S for the iPhone 4S,
Has anyone else seen this message and figured out how to fix it?
    Mike

This could be caused by a USB connection issue. Make sure the iPhone is directly connected to the Mac using the USB cable it came with. Also, try disconnecting all other USB devices.
If you haven't already try resetting the iPhone by holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see an Apple logo as described here:http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305743

  • Itunes could not connect to this iphone because of an unknown error (0xE800007F)

Never experienced this before, but I've been having this issue constantly since installing iTunes 10.5 and iOS5.  I get this error when my iPhone is on the same network, but not attached via USB.  My iPad communicates and syncs with iTunes just fine.
When the iPhone is connected via USB, the error doesn't occur.  I'm not even trying to sync with my iPhone when I get this error - iTunes just sees it on the network and gives me this error.  Sometimes I have to close multiple instances of this error - up to 20 instances at times.
    Thoughts?

  • When I plug my iPod Touch into the computer in iTunes it says: iTunes could not connect to this iPhone because an unknown error occurred (0xE8000065)

I have a refurbished iPod Touch and it has been working fine with my computer except for sometimes there's a little delay in iTunes picking it up when I plug it in to my computer and now when I tried to plug it in to my computer it has the message that I posted in the title.

    See:
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Unknown error containing '0xE' when connecting

  • ITunes could not connect to this iPhone.....

This error message appears on a regular basis:
iTunes could not connect to this iPhone because an unknown error occurred (0xE800007F).
And my iPhone 4S rarely syncs over wifi, even when plugged in with A/C power adapter.

I I have just tried stopping my AVG anti-virus software, stopping iTunes, then removed the iPhone drivers, re-booting my system with all the AVG services disabled, then pluging the iPhone back in to the system to allow the drivers to install without AVG.
    Will see if this helps.
Rather than un-installing and re-installing iTunes, just open the Task Manager and select the Process tab. Stop the ATH.exe process.
Plug your iPhone back in and iTunes will recognize the phone.

I am unable to backup my iphone 5 iOS 6.0.1 (connected directly to laptop USB) with my itunes 11 for Win 7 64bits. The process starts and fails to complete giving the error: itunes could not complete backup of iphone because iphone disconnected.
I have restarted the PC, the iphone, changed the lightining cable and nothign resolves it: backup never completes.

Hi, I disabled the antivirus and the firewall. Same result
I even deleted the backup folder inside C:\Users\...\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup to eliminate any corruption in the old backup files.
Nothing changed: Session either times out or i get the same error message: itunes could not back up iphone because iphone disconnected. It always happens during step 3 out of 4 which is "transfering purchased apps from iphone to PC" and comes after step 2 which is backup.
My iphone 5 is not jailbroken, and is a factory unlocked phone.
    Any other suggestion?

  • IPhone 5 will not connect to brand new MBA/iTunes. Error message is "iTunes could not connect to this iPhone. Could not connect to the device."

    Hi!
I've had my iPhone 5 for just over a year now, and I haven't really had any problems since iOS7 was installed. I had a PC, with no connectivity problems between any of my Apple devices. Then FINALLY, I purchased my very first Macbook Air 13". I set it all up, updated all the apps, and made sure it was good to go. My iPhone was really low on battery one day, and I just happened to have my USB for it handy and thought I would just plug it into my computer to charge it. I figured I worry about syncing it later as I hadn't really had time to set it all up with iTunes on the new computer.
MY PHONE WENT CRAZY. It just started vibrating all over the table. Looking at the battery icon, it was flipping between charging and not charging, and occasionally the "do you trust this device" window would pop up on the screen, but it was still going crazy. iTunes opened up and these alerts saying "iTunes could not connect to this iPhone. Could not connect to the device." and "iTunes could not connect to this iPhone. This device is no longer connected." All it was doing at this point was using up even more battery. But then the iPhoto app opened by itself on my shiny new Macbook and the vibrating stopped. It was charging and syncing! But not having iPhotos before on a computer weirded me out i hadn't decided exactly what I wanted to do with it, I closed the app. The phone went nuts again. ***. On a different day, I was trying to sync it again, and it worked. But only long enough to back it up on the macbook. W.T.F.
Plugging into any PC is no problem at all. The phone just connects and starts charging.
I've tried just about everything. All of my software is up to date, both on the mac and iphone. The USB cord is fine. I've reset the macbook with it plugged in and not plugged in. I have uninstalled, and reinstalled iTunes with the phone plugged in and not plugged in. I've reset all the contents and settings on my iPhone, as well as did a hard reset with it plugged in and not plugged in. My iPad has no problem connecting and it also has iOS7. It's just so weird though, that it starts connecting/disconnecting interchangeably as soon as I plug it into the computer, even when all my apps are closed. All this is leading me to believe that it must be some sort of issue between the devices' communication to each other. But I'm not sure if it's an iPhone, MacBook, or iTunes issue!
    HHHHEEEEELLLLLLPPPPP!!!!!

I had this same problem with my new MBP 15", but only with the USB port on the left side. The USB port on the right side worked fine. Perhaps the ports on the left don't have enough signal energy for the iPhone.
Anyway, try using a different USB port, and if that doesn't work, perhaps you could try a powered USB hub.

  • ITunes could not connect to this iPhone. The device is no longer connected

A few days ago, my iPad 3 A1430 screen turned black. Siri was still there but very slow to respond. The following day, the screen display returned (the usual green background colour but a much smaller display and not a single icon present). Siri was back up to speed, could play music, display info but could not respond to calendar enquiries etc. The iPad would switch off but not reboot. I let the battery level drop to zero then re-charged: iPad now working again.
Wanting to back-up my iPad, I ran iTunes version 12.1.0.50 on iMac (Yosemite 10.10.2). I have PCemulator installed and when the iPad connection was made, I received the usual screen prompt for which to connect to Mac or PC. (The problem starts here: - the prompt was flashing on/off). I selected Mac & received the  message “iTunes could not connect to this iPhone. The device is no longer connected”.
Rebooted PC and iPad, connecting iPad offers no device prompt, only the same error message.
Successfully backed up iPhone 6 using iTunes.
Upgraded iPad software to IOS 8.2 and connected again. No effect, same error message.
Looked at various Apple posts but couldn’t find a solution. After several iMac & iPad reboots, eventually managed to back-up my iPad and in the process lost all my iPad music built up over the years on my old PC. Managed to recover these music files from my old PC and load them onto iTunes on my iMac. Tried to sync my iPad but back to error message “iTunes could not connect to this iPhone. The device is no longer connected”.
    Any solution?

I have the same problem. In fact when I plug in my iPad 2 updated to ios 7.0.4 I get that same message and it crashes my entire system - forcing me to reboot.
