ITunes could not connect to the iTunes store. The connection has timed out.

Okay, I'm sure that there is already a forum for this, but I don't feel like searching for it at this point. I've scoured the internet in search of a solution for this problem. My iTunes works perfectly, but anything that requires the iTunes Store(i.e. Get Track Names, Get Album Artwork, Genius) does not work. I've cleared my DNS cache multiple times, I've add iTunes as an exception to my firewall, deleted my Norton wirewall, turned my firewall completely off, and any other fix that the internet has to offer. It seems that iTunes is only doing this with Windows 7 users as my cousin has the same computer, is using Windows Vista and the same version of iTunes as I am, and hers works fine. I don't care whose fault it is, Apple's or Dell's, I just want it fixed. I ran a diagnostic and this is what I got -->
Microsoft Windows 7 x64 Home Premium Edition (Build 7600)
Dell Inc. Inspiron 1545

Have you looked at the previous discussions listed on the right side of this page under the heading "More Like This"?

  • Error in TeamViewer: "The iView has timed out"

    All,
We have put the TeamViewer in the Dynamic Navigation container to display employees on our custom build page which contains only standard iViews.
For some strange reason we get the following error message in the TeamViewer iView and it does not disappear anymore:
“The iView has timed out. There is no cached content to display. Click 'Reload' to retrieve updated content. You may need to wait for the cache to retrieve the content from the source.  Reload”
(But the 'reload' is not a link nor is there a possibility to refresh)
To solve this problem we already tried the following:
    - Setting the client side caching to ‘no’.
    - Putting the time out very high and also on -1.
    - Changing the Cache level to ‘none’.
Does anybody ever encountered the same problem? Any suggestions on where to look for a solution?
    We are using:
    EP 6.0
    MSS BP 60.1.15
    SAP 4.6C
Thanks in advance and kind regards,

    Howzit,
This error message is often interchangeable with a more accurate version (I get both errors from separate workstations):
"Failed to connect to backend system. Check your system definition and user privileges"
There are (at least) two possible reasons for this message:
    1. Your System alias is invalid - try connecting a new iView using the same system alias an see if that works. If not, regenerate your system alias or connect directly to the root system.
    2. The RFC service has stopped or some reason. A restart of the J2EE should resolve this. Also make sure that you are on the latest patch of the J2EE Engine which should prevent this from happening in the future.
    GOOD LUCK!

  • "Could not connect to iTunes store. Your network connection has timed out"

OK. So my internet is fine as you can tell yet i keep getting the message "iTunes could not connect to iTunes store. Your network connection has timed out".I have tried restarting and the parental control thing as well as the "proxy server" thing, and nothing has worked. I would be very grateful if someone could help me

I've had the same problem for the last two weeks. Finally resolved the issue in Windows 7.
Go to start button, control panel, system & security, windows firewall. On the left side of the box click on "advanced settings." On the left side of the box again click on "Inbound Rules." You should be able to see iTunes under the name category. Make sure it has a green check mark next to it. If it does not, then double click on the name. In the "general" box which comes up open, click "Allow the Connection." That worked for me. Somehow itunes was blocked but now I can access the itunes store again.

Disabling the computer's antivirus and firewall during the download and update usually resolves the timeout error.

Try temporarily disabling your firewall and see if you are then able to access the iTunes store.

I posted a blog with my experience, but the final solutions for me, was to unplug my computer from my wireless router and hard wire it through the cable directly to my DSL modem.
Here's everything I did based on different searches, and some of these items worked for other people.  But for me, it took bypassing my wireless router.

when downloading ios 5 to my itunes an error message saying "the network connection has timed out" keeps popping up. how do i fix this?

    Temporarily dip ****.
And excluding the extremely high network traffic due to the many millions of users downloading the update a day or two after is was released, this is a problem with that swiss cheese for security garbage OS that is Windows only, which is the joke. An update that is now running on 1 in 3 compatible iDevices which is in the 10's of milllions is vaporware Einstein?
If I were your rep, I would tell you to **** off. Go get Windoze mobile devices.

  • ITunes connection has timed out - solved on Mac

I have a MacBook Pro, running OS 10.5.8.  I am running iTunes 10.5.  Every time I went to purchase an app thru the iTunes store, on login attempt, I'd receive an error message that the iTunes connection had timed out.
All of the Apple troubleshooting support I checked said to check the connection (duh), check the version of iTunes was current, and for Windows users, the version of IE.  Check check check. Everything was fine.
I finally stumbled on this article first:  http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3297
Following the steps as outlined, led to checking the firewall.  Not understanding what step(5) meant "Reduce the restrictions on access in the firewall" because the connections for iTunes were allowed,  I ended up clicking on the Advanced button, and then opening the console log.  In the console log, I found numerous errors from "com.apple.kdcmond" that was attempting to access my computer.  I was concerned it was some vicious attack on the computer, but after a search of "com.apple.kdcmond" found another post complaining of the same error messages that I was receiving.  The clip from below was a response to fix the problem.  I followed the directions.... as it said, my computer name was missing from the field where it belonged.  Entering my hard drive name in the blank field, fixed my iTunes problem.  Hope this helps someone else.
I just had the same problem. I solved it by going to the Sharing System Preference and entering my computer name, which was blank. It had been entered previously, and I'm not sure how it was deleted. At any rate, the error messages went away.

Just wanted to add, when I logged on earlier to post the first question, the message "Connection has timed out" seemed to happen within seconds. This was going from the log in page back to the forum page.
Sometimes, the message does not appear for a minute or so when loading a new page or as before, when going from one page to another within a domain.
This time, the forum page loaded without a problem and no error between log in page and returning to forum.
Therefore, this is an intermittent problem.
    Suggestions?

  • I have an itunes acct. on my PC, but itunes doesn't allow me on using that acct. info.  When I try to set up a new id on my ipad it says the session has timed out.

I have an itunes account on my PC and have downloaded Kindle and iBook with no problem, but when I try and use that acct id on my iPad the system says I cannot access the store.  However, when I try to create a new id the system comes up and tells me that I am from Canada, which is always nice to know in case I ever forget, and when I acknowledge that screen, it immediately tells me the session has timed out.  What am I doing wrong?  Willingly admit I am not at all knowledgable in the Apple world.  Thanks for any help you can give..

    Carmell-
When I've had a similar problem, it was because I was accessing the iTunes store from a device I hadn't used before, such as when I upgraded from an iPad 1 to the iPad 2.  It was a little confusing to me until I figured it out.
All I had to do was use the ID of my existing account and play along with the iTunes store.  As I recall, it asked for my password twice, and the security code from the back of my credit card.  After that, downloads proceeded as before.

  • I am getting an error message that my network connection has timed out. while trying to update my iPhone on iTunes. Has anyone found a solution? I was given some advice about turning off my firewall and/or virus protection but am nervous about doing that.

I get a message that my network connection has timed out while trying to update my iPhone on iTunes. Has anyone else had that problem and if so what solutions have you found? I was told to turn off my firewall and/or virus protection while updating but am nervous about doing that for obvious reasons. I'm also disgusted with Apple not providing free tech support.
