When I sync my iPhone with iTunes I get an error message that says "iTunes could not sync calendars to the iPhone because the sync server failed to sync the iPhone" How do I fix this?
I had the same problem. I found this site http://itprokb.blogspot.com/2010/10/itunes-could-not-sync-calendars-to.html
It worked for me. Good luck! -
My problem - when syncing and error messages comes up: iTunes could not sync calendars to the iPhone because an error occurred while margin data." I've tried turning the phone off and back on, & tried both USB ports but get the same thing. What can I do next since it doesn't give me even one clue as to what the error would be?
Before I started to resync calendars one by one as suggested in the troubleshooting article, I remembered something that came up in a sync when I first attempted : a 'which one do you want to keep' message about a repeating calendar event, which came up with three options, one from Calendar, and two from iCal on the phone. I deleted that event, then went through the calendar resync one by one, and all seems OK now.
In Music there is a way to find 'ghost' items that show up as grayed-out on the menus, so that you can try to reassociate or delete them. It would be nice to have a similar way to work with Calendar!
Thanks for pointing me to the right article. -
"iTunes could not sync calendars to the iPhone "ABC" because the iPhone disconnected"
Hi.
So, I have an iPhone 4 running iOS 4.3.5. I am syncing it using iTunes version 10.4.1 running on a MacBookPro running Mac OSX 10.7.1.
When I do a sync it runs through the usual steps, including the step where it says it is syncing calendars, and each step appears to complete in the iTunes window. However, as it finishes, a warning message appears saying "iTunes could not sync calendars to the iPhone "ABC" because the iPhone disconnected". Here's a screen grab of the error message:-
Now, the phone has not physically disconnected. I'm a bit baffled by this. It is a new iPhone 4, but inital syncs were performed without any difficulty. I have tried inserting a TEST event, to make sure that there is in fact a difficulty with the sync, and I can confirm that the error is not a phantom; syncs are not taking place. In additon, I have tried (albeit not methodically) to vary the particular calendars that are to sync, and the sync settings around old events, but to no avail.
Any suggestions for trouble shooting this would be gratefully received.
Thanks.Seems a workaround solution is here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/9159203#9159203
This seems to solve the problem but we'll wait and see... -

I get the message "iTunes could not sync calendars to the iPhone "name" because the sync server failed to sync the iPhone" every time I sync the iPhone 3GS with iTunes by USB. Can anyone help? Please !!!!
I posted the following to "iTunes could not sync calendars to the iPhone "xx" because the sync server failed to sync the iPhone. What does this mean??" at https://discussions.apple.com/message/15820680#15820680
I haven't seen it mentioned but the secret is to
Sync only selected calendars
Select "Remove Calendars" from the popup window
(This is ambigous: from where are the calendars removed? From the device being synced to)
Click apply.
Oops! My memory is already gone stale. I think I left no calendars selected, then clicked apply. Then I selected the calendars that I wanted, then clicked apply.
In any case, I had a blank calendar on my iPad and then I had all the updated events that I wanted on my iPad.
Thanks to all who provided some of the essential clues to resolving this problem. -
Itunes could not sync calendars to the iPhone because the iPhone disconnected
Just went to sync my iphone today and got this message:
iTunes could not sync calendars to the iphone because the iphone disconnected.
Any ideas what the problem might be. Had not had this happen to me before.
Can't be iCloud because the only thing I use that for is Find My Mac.
Restarted iTunes as well - still get the warning notice.
Any ideas?I have the same issue - it just started happening. Any suggestions out there??

I'm at a loss as to what to do. Any help is appreciated. When syncing my iphone I get an message, "itunes could not sync calendars to the iphone because an error ocurred while merging data" I sync my calendar to outlook. My iphone calendar has all and the most updated information. Outlook calendar only shows my recurring events.
hi there,
i've found a great & simple solution for this problem
just open your iCloud acc on iPhone
turn off calendars (it wil ask you to keep info or not - KEEP IT!)
and turn back on (MERGE!)
now SYNC it..
and that's it
PS in my case it was contacts so the procedure is the same.. -
i am getting this for the first time when i sync .iphone 3gs error message itunes could not sync calendars to the iphone because the sync server failed to sync iphone

I have the "sync calendars" checked.
This happens about every three months and drives me crazy!
I have a 2G iphone on T-Mobile.i use outlook for my work email, but my personal email is in gmail. besides work email, i do not use outlook at all.
i get my work email on my iPhone, but i do not sync calendars and contacts as i have to use an imap connection for work, and this does not allow for calendar or contact syncing.
i have seen a gmail/outlook sync tool, but i am afraid i do not use it so i can not offer any help with it.

I have tried the suggestions that i have found in previous discussions (disabling addins in outlook tools and resetting the sync history in itunes) with no joy. Am reluctant to 'replace calendar' from outlook to iphone as I sync both ways (outlook to iphone and vice versa) This has happened out of the blue, without an update occuring (however am keen to update when we can download the full application......) Is anyone aware if the latest update will resolve this or is there another fix?
Don't update windows or Itunes. it creates more issues - i did both and now the backup part of the sync will not complete. Completely freezes and then i have to force closure using task manager.....
I hope Apple support read these discussions because I am very ****** off with this and am considering getting rid of the iphone altogether and moving to an android - i have heard they are heaps better than iphone!!!! With a **** of a lot less bugs!!!! -
Ever since downloading the newest version of iTunes, I keep receiving this error when syncing my iPhone. My appointments are not copying to my iPhone. I'm using Outlook 2003.
edit: resetting sync history didn't help.Brenden,
thanks for the reply, but the troubleshooting tips seemed to concentrate on 'Lion"," Snow Leopard" and the like, I haven't a clue what any of that is. I am using Windows 7 Pro with Service Pack 1 on my desktop and my iPhone is using iOS 8.1.2, as is my iPad mini. As I said on my previous post, syncing on my iPad mini works fine, It is just the iPhone that fails to sync the calendars. Hopefully a solution can be found as it is difficult to keep things synced on my iPad and then have to add everything manually onto my iPhone.

ITunes could not sync calendars to ---'s iPhone because the sync server failed to sync the iPhone
iTunes could not sync calendars to ---'s iPhone because the sync server failed to sync the iPhone. How can this be resolved? I can figure out if the sync server failed to sync then iTunes would not sync the calendars. Everything syncs on my iPad mini 3 wifi and my iphone syncs my contacts but not the calendars. So what gives?
