    I have a laptop running Windows 7 (professional edition) 64 bit using Outlook 2010 and I get this same daggone message every time I try to synch contacts, calender, or notes (all Outlook 2010)...."iTunes could not synch contacts to the iPhone because the synch server failed to sync the iPhone."
    I called Apple's tech "support" and they said unapologetically that iTunes doesn't work with Outlook 2010. ***!?! And further that the solution was to use Outlook 2003 or 2007. And gave NO indication that any solution was in the works.

  • IPod won't sync - "Itunes could not copy (name of song) to the ipod (name of ipod) Because an unknown error occurred (-53)"

    I recently bought a used iPod Classic (my previous one was stolen). I still had my iTunes library on my computer so I was just going to hook it up and sync my library over, replacing what was on there from the previous user. When I first hooked it up to my computer (Windows 7 64-bit) there was a message saying the drivers were not installed properly. I un-plugged it, and plugged it back in to the same result. I tried 1 more time and didn't get the error message. I then opened iTunes and clicked on the iPod. I checked for updates, then clicked "Restore this iPod". Next, I set it up to sync music, and the sync began. It seemed to work for a while, the "Syncing iPod" message was displayed at the top, and it said it was copying songs over. It did this for about 10 minutes before I finally got the following message:
    "Itunes could not copy (name of song) to the ipod (name of ipod) Because an unknown error occurred (-53)"
    After that happens, everything seems to freeze up. iTunes says it's still syncing, but nothing ever seems to happen. If I click the eject button, nothing happens either. I eventually have to just disconnect the iPod. The iPod seems frozen for a while, then it seems to reboot itself (the gray apple window displays), then the interface displays and I can get to the songs on there. But, only a very small portion of my library makes it to the iPod. I've tried several times now and it always seems to be the same songs that DO make it onto the iPod. However, it's a different song listed in the error message each time, so it doesn't seem to be just 1 song causing the problem. Also, once I hook the iPod back to the computer, Windows displays a message prompting me to scan the drive and fix errors. I did it once and it said it found some errors and fixed them.
    I saw this thread: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3924425
    and some people were suggesting removing everything from your library then re-adding it, in case the paths were messed up. I tried that and still got the same results. I also updated iTunes to the latest version, and I've tried different USB ports and 2 different USB cables.
    I also found instructions for a batch file you can run that, I believe, updates the iTuens DLLs, I did that as well but it did not help: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1539
    What else can I try to fix this?

  • ITunes could not copy "Beethoven's Symphony No 9 (from "A Clockwork Orange")" to iPhone "Heywood Floyd's iPhone" because the file could not be read or written

    Hello, i am having the following problem...
    "iTunes could not copy "Beethoven's Symphony No 9 (from "A Clockwork Orange")" to iPhone "Heywood Floyd's iPhone" because the file could not be read or written" [ ... and yes, Heywood Floyd is an avatar name..]
    With this...
    a. it occurs when I try to synch my iphone with iTunes.
    b. I have tested the "Beethoven's Symphony No 9" files that I have found on my iTunes, and my iPhone, as there is a copy of "Beethoven_ Symphony No. 9, _Choral_" folder that is the concert from Bernard Haitink & London Symphony Orchestra;
    c. This is where is get weird, a sort of Jack Torrance moment, they only file related to "A clock work orange" is 06 A Clockwork Orange - Ode to Joy.m4p...
    So what is happening, and how can I resolve this, as I am not able to synch between my mac and my iPhone....

    Check the media source drive for errors.
    See also Repair security permissions for iTunes for Windows. Not sure it is relevant but can't hurt.
    If iTunes is confused about what media is and is not on the device take these steps:
    Backup the device.
    Restore as a new device.
    Restore from the earlier backup.

  • Syncing downloaded movies from itunes to ipad which then suddenly stops and will not finish the sync stating itunes could not copy  "name of movie" to the ipad because the file could not be written. restored the ipad to factory settings, reinstalled itune

    I have had to format my PC running windows 7, and reset my ipad 1 to factory settings, i then installed latest itunes on the PC authorised the PC and re downloaded several movies via itunes previous purchases, all was well until i tried to sync the ipad to the PC, only some of the movies synced onto the ipad, otheres stalled the sync stating itunes could not copy  "name of movie" to the ipad because the file could not be written. I have to pull the plug on the ipad just to get itunes to unfreeze, but it still will not sync these movies. and one help

    Hi
    I was having the same issue with music and movies but it had been ok before. The sync would freeze on a random file and then i had to take out the USB cable to clear it. After trying all sorts of things i saw someone mentioning about Anti virus and firewalls. I am using McAfee so i disabled it as a test. After this i could sync music and movies without issue!!!!! So in my case the firewall/anti virus was causing a problem. McAfee updates itself a lot so I am guessing something has happened in a recent update that impacted iTunes.I am not sure if this kind of thing is also causing your problem but it sounds very familiar.
    Hope this helps.

  • Itunes could not restore the iphone because the backup session failed

    Hello,
    i did a backup for my data on itunes, then i upgraded to IOS 6.1, when i tried to restore my backup it keeps giving me this message:
    "itunes could not restore the iphone because the backup session failed".
    although i still have the data in the backup folder, i searched the internet for softwares that can recover my data, i found a software called "Wondershare Dr.Fone"
    i was able to recover all my data via Wondershare Dr.Fone, but it didnt restore the data to my iPhone, it only recovered it to my pc, as (media files, contacts,etc...)
    i was wondering if there is any way to fix this problem, or any other way to restore my backup to my iPhone device without using Itunes...
    one more thing , can i upload the backup files that i have on my pc to iCloud, then recover it from my iPhone??

  • IOS 5: iTunes could not restore the iPhone "John's iPhone" because the backup session failed."

    I've been battling to get my iPhone onto iOS 5 for 2 days, during which time my phone has been rendered unuseable, and is stuck on the set up menu. When I select "Restore from iTunes Backup," it tells me to connect to iTunes, so I do. I've tried to back it up 20 million times, and I think sometimes it failed, but other times the backup worked. But then, when I go to restore, I get the error message "iTunes could not restore the iPhone "John's iPhone" because the backup session failed.
    So what do I do. My phone is unuseable and it doesn't seem like theres any solution.
    Also, are you able to tell whether or not I've lost all of my data that is not my music/apps. Please tell me if you think I have.

    Good luck. My iPod Touch did the same thing. I now have a very expensive paperweight that I'd like to stuff up someone's nose over at Apple. The "resolutions" offered by Apple don't do anything for me (they never do). There are a variety of resolutions that others have discovered but none of them have worked for me either. This is my second Touch and the second major malfunction that is probably unfixable. If I can't get this fixed and get my data restored I'll probably give this thing to my toddler to play Angry Birds and I'll go buy a device from a company that knows what their doing.
    Do a search on Google (or whatever) with the error message and you should find some suggestions from others who've had this problem, some seem to have found solutions. If I find a fix that actually works I'll make a follow-up post.

    Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school enviroment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.

    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
     Cheers, Tom
  • Itunes could not connect to your ipod because it is lock with with a passcode
    itunes could not connect to your ipod because it is lock with with a passcode.
    If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup).
    If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present.
    You may have to force iPad/iPod into Recovery Mode
    am trying to sync my ipad with my computer and keep getting the following message: iTunes could not check for an update to the carrier settings in your ipad.  an unknown error occurs (1631).  what do I do??
    The search bar can be very valuable...........
    In using it, I found out other's have had this issue and it likely means you have a 3G iPad?  If you do, go into settings and turn off cellular data, then try to update again and you should be OK........
  • TS1463 Itunes could not copy (name of song) To the ipod (name of ipod) Because an unknown error occurred (-50)
    Itunes could not copy (name of song) To the ipod (name of ipod) Because an unknown error occurred (-50)
    I had this problem with a new album I downloaded this week from Amazon. It looks like they changed their cloud player download functionality within the last few weeks.
    I previously tried the steps listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1539
    I had also tried Windows Updates and a few other suggestions I found on this topic and nothing had worked.
    In iTunes, when I right-click on the track to "Get Info," I noticed it lists WHERE at the bottom of the Summary tab to show where the file is located. It said the file was located in \\?\C:\mp3\... Amazon automatically downloads my mp3's to this directory and imports them to iTunes. I assumed there was something wrong with the mapping, due to the \\?\.
    If you notice your files are not mapped to a valid location:
    Highlight the affected tracks and press the <Delete> key on your keyboard.
    Select the Remove option when prompted to remove the files from your Library. Take care to Keep Files if prompted so you don't completely remove them from your computer.
    Locate the files on your computer and drag them to import back into iTunes. If you check the location mapping in Get Info, the directory should now be valid.
    I think the USB workaround above might resolve this issue, but this probably helps to explain that the files locations weren't referenced in iTunes correctly in the first place.
