Itunes crackling, popping sounds...

Hi all,
I have been having annoying clacking/popping sounds in iTunes 8.02.20.
Please do not direct me to the link intitled "iTunes and QuickTime: Audio does not play or plays incorrectly" since I checked and tried everything there.
The problem affects only songs played in iTunes (not Media player or sounds in games or streaming online). Not all songs are affected but I am not going to systematically go through my library to figure out which ones are not working. Interestingly, I noticed this problem for songs downloaded from the iTunes store and more often then not its classical music.

I installed iTunes for the first time this weekend on my XP Pro machine and was having the same problem. After much trial and error I discovered what was causing the crackling/popping sounds with all my songs in iTunes and in my case Quicktime also. Quicktime's default audio size was set to 8-bit and the rate to 32kHz. Both were the lowest settings available. I changed the audio size to 24-bit and the rate to 192kHz, then applied my settings and closed out of Quicktime. This completely resolved my issue. No more crackling/popping sounds in iTunes or Quicktime.
The Quicktime settings in question can be accessed via the file menu in Quicktime per the below...
Edit->Preferences->Quicktime Preferences->Audio->Sound Out->
Good luck! I hope this simple change in Quicktime settings resolves the issue for you as it has for me. In my case I was installing these applications for the first time and was only doing so in order to use iTunes as I'll be purchasing my first iPod in the next month or so. As such, I didn't think to check the settings in Quicktime right away as I was initially troubleshooting this problem.

whenever I call my home phone, I hear a lot of snap crackle pop sounds with 3G active. If I turn off 3G, this stops. How do I fix this?

there is no fix. It's a GSM 3G thing. I used to be able to go to the movies and put my phone next to a movie theatre speaker and it do the same thing....
i just figured the newest 3G technologies did away with it

  • Crackling/Popping sounds on Windows 10

Hello everyone. I have recently upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7 (the problem I am about to say never occured on Windows 7). When listening to music, I now hear popping/crackling sounds. I use my headphones to listen to music but I checked using my speakers and the same problem occurs. My PC info is:System Manufacturer: Hewlett-PackardSystem Model: HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PCSystem Type: x64-based PCProcessor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T6600 @ 2.20GHz, 2200 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 2 Logical Processor(s)Installed Physical Memory (RAM): 4.00 GB I have checked DPC Latency ( http://www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtml ) and there does seem to be a problem. The latency spikes very often. The latency that I always have is between 1000-1500us but it spikes very high. For some reason, right now it says my current latency is 1192us but my maximum is 908,300,885! This does not seem normal!  I don't know how to fix it! Has anyone else heard something like this and does anyone know a fix?  On device manager under "Sound, video and game controllers" there are two drivers. I have used Device manager to try to update the drivers but it is saying that I have the latest version for both.1. IDT High Defintion Audio CODEC2. Intel(R) High Defintion Audio HDMI Thank you.

Hello everyone, this is an update on my issue. So I just tried uninstalling the IDT High Defintion Audio Driver, rebooted my computer and reinstalled the IDT High Defintion Audio Driver and I have no luck. I can still hear the popping and crackling sounds. I thought I'd share some information on this fourm. I just did a DPC Latnecy test (from LatencyMon) with nothing running but the test for 2 minutes and this is the report I got. If anyone either from HP or other people can assist me on my issue, I would very much appreciate it._________________________________CONCLUSION:Your system appears to be having trouble handling real-time audio and other tasks. • FF800 Crackling popping sounds

Hi guy's I had this problem yesterday with the FF800 it went away but is back I got lots of pops and cracks when playing trks back. yesterday i trashed old driver went to rme web sight reloaded them. but now i'm not sure which mac drivers to get I'm useing a mac bpro. could the problem be because I'm still running tiger should i go to lep. anyone with ideas please help if u can thxx

general rule of thumb for DAWs - you record with small buffer settings and mix with large buffer settings.
Small buffer settings 256 or lower will give you less latency when recording but put a lot more strain on the CPU. Larger buffer settings 512 and above will give you more processing power buffer for using more plugins during mixing and playback. Make sure that delay compensation is turned on to (all) in your Logic preferences to offset any delay from audio tracks, software instruments, busses and aux tracks.

  • Crackle/Popping Sound X-FI Fi

I bought a new motherboard today from intel, the problem is with the layers of conductors on the motherboard, this one has 4, which does not support overclocking. The X-fi card works with it with no interference sounds or anything. This shows that this might be a problem with the Motherboard or Chipset manufacture.Message Edited by keiluko on 04-2-2008 05:39 PM

The soundcard should not be affected by the motherboard. it is Creative's fault for being very strict in how the card works thus making it sound terrible on motherboards that don't meet the official pci specs.

  • P775 -S7320 crackling and popping sound

I get a crackling/popping sound occasionally when listening to just about anything. It happens when watching online videos and listening to music on Windows media. I can hear it out of both speakers, and when using headphones.
Any ideas what the problem could be?
    I have updated all drivers.

I noticed that recently I am having the same problem with a P775-S7236.
If I reboot the laptop then it goes away but eventually it comes back.
    Did you solve your problem.

  • DV6 IDT audio crackle pop click issue

I have pavilion dv6 with the crackle pop sound issue.  It almost sounds like it crackles when the bass hits or higher notes.  I have tried disabling hp 3d thing, that didnt work.
I updated newest drivers.  Just very frustrating.

    updated Atheros Wireless LAN Driver
Fixed issue, so far, Will see if problem stays away if so I'll not send it in for repairs.
First time says christmas, i have been able to use my notebook.  HP FAIL.
How did the techs not even update my drivers when i sent it in for repair.  They did more work than necessary changing out speakers that were perfectly fine.
    But ill keep this upadated.

  • Static, Crackles, and Pop Sounds

I have a Sound Blaster PCI Express X-Fi Xtreme Audio sound card?(.04.0000 Drivers) and it makes crackles and pop sounds when:
    - I'm watching a video online in fullscreen (for example: Youtube, Gamespot, IGN)
    - When I'm watching any video in fullscreen on Windows Media Player
    - When playing a certain DVD or CD rom (for example, a movie or a music cd) the sound will go all static
    - The sound will also crackle and pop in other programs when a movie or music DVD/CD is in my dri've, but not in use
    - Certain games are unplayable because of all the static sound (for example: Starcraft)
    - When I play?Street Fighter IV and Battlefield Heroes, I don't experience crackling or popping, but rather?poor sound quality (it's like sound coming from very bad?speakers with no bass).
    My specs are:
    Windows XP Professional SP3
    Intel Core i7 @ 2.67Ghz
    3 GB DDR3 Ram
HIS Radeon HD 4870 52 MB
    Asus P6T Delxue Motherboard
I have disabled EAX Effects, X-Fi CMSS-3D, and X-Fi Crystalizer in the Creative Console. The sound card is currently in my PCIe x6 slot. I have tried putting it in my PCIe x4 Slot, but I get the same problems. Also, when I plug in my mic, it does not work! Why is that? and how can I get rid of these crackles, pops, and static noises?

Turns out I'm not very familiar with the Xtreme Audio cards which I'm pretty sure don't have an X-Fi chip, just some X-Fi algorithms in software. I'm not sure how much help I can provide. Have you tried CL Support?
What are you using for speakers?
If you get complete static, that could be attempting to send an encoded track like Dolby Digital, DTS, DTS CD Audio, to analog speakers. That would be a matter of making sure the player software settings are correct.

  • Pop sound between tracks on ipod/iphone but not iTunes

    hello,
not sure if this is the correct forum but i have an iphone 3G (and an ipod nano 3G) and like to listen to music without breaks so i delete any spaces of silence in between tracks (with Audacity). my problem is that when music is lined back to back like this (without any silence), there is a pop sound at the beginning of the second track. the editing should be clean because it plays perfectly fine on iTunes.
my question: is it just a matter of my equipment being too old and needing to upgrade? is the processing too slow? would a iphone 5 be able to play just as well as iTunes?
appreciate any comments or assistance in advance.

    Hi
If I keep them on itunes thet will sync over to the ipod when connected. We didnt want them on the opod because when on shuffle they will play which isnt what we want.any ideas appreciated.

  • Laptop M500 - ST6422 - Crackling and popping sound. How to resolve it?

    Hello
I own a toshiba M500 - ST6422 and from the beginning a had sound issues when i listened to music or watched movies.
I saw that a new bios version (2.50) was released to resolve this issue and I installed it but my problem is still there. I still have crackling and popping sound when i listed to music and watch music. It appears at random. I trie dto catch if the CPU reached 100% but it didn't.
    How can this be resolved?
I  still have warrancy until december, if i take it to there, can they resolve something?
What is the problem? Driver/ sound card/ other?
I really need ansers on how to resolve this issue, untill my warrancy ends.
    Thank you in advance

so, i went with it at a service who handle toshiba warrancies too. They tested the hardware and said everything is ok, must be a software problem.
So i did what you asked, installed it out of the box, and it doesn't give me the same bad problems, but they still occure but seldom than before.
So it must be a software problem indeed, which toshiba didnt resolve with the new bios version 2.50.
Anyway, the problem is another one. I used to install windows in a custom way on 50 GB so I could use the best of the rest of GB for other partitiions. Now, with out of the box installationg, i cannot shrink too much of C partition (the one with windows), it doesn;t let me , so i am stuck with 119GB on C. Isn't there anything to be able to take like 60GB from C to another partition. I tried to defragment with it was 0 result.
    Thanks
I am also waititng for other advices to be able to resolve the software problem with audio.

  • 790i SLI crackling and popping sound issue solv

No, not by a Creative product but by a competitors PCI?sound card.
I am no longer experiencing any crackling or popping sound during movie playback and durring games on my eVGA?790i system in SLI mode on Vista Ultimate 64.
The sound quaility and performance are excellent.
I will be returning my Fatalty Pro this weekend.
I strongly suggest you do whatever it takes to fix your sound cards Creative. At least one of your competitors was able to design a very good sound card that has none of the issues that the X-Fi does with the 790i.
Your continuing to sell a clearly defecti've product has cost you my business, a customer that has been using your sound cards for 0 years.
Gamers dont want excuses, we want results.
If you cant provide them, we will buy from a company that can as I have already done.

  • Crackling and popping sound when playing music and watching youtube videos

there is a crackling and popping sound when i watch videos on youtube or play music/videos  using vlc media player  and windows media player. recently it has gotten to a point where it happens when windows is starting up or even when the laptop is required to play a sound for example when i plug in a removeable hardware such as thumbdrives

    Hi @donnabail ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read about your HP 2000 Notebook and getting a buzzing or popping sound while playing music and watching Youtube videos. Try performing a hard reset.
When performing a hard reset please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices.
You can do a system restore. System restore will help if something automatically updated and did not go well on the Notebook that might have caused this.
    You can try this
    1. Right click the Speaker icon in the bottom right corner.
    2. Click Playback Devices.
    3. Click Speakers.
    4. Click properties.
    5. Click the advanced tab on the Properties window.
    6. Change the Default Format drop-down to the highest quality.
    7. Apply the properties.
    8. Click OK to close the properties window.
What happens if you right click on the video while playing a video and take the check out of hardware acceleration. Shut the browser down and restart the notebook.
Have you checked for an update on the Active X.
Please let me know how this goes.
    Thanks.
Please click “Accept as Solution ” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.

  • MacPro Audio Snap-Crackle-Pop (macpro 6-core 3,33GHz)

    Hi Everyone,
3 weeks ago i received my brand new 4500$ machine, after working for about 40 minutes there was this really loud POP/Crack trough the speakers, didn't think much of it at first but then after a while same thing happened. It really loud and scared the living daylights out of me...at first i thought it was a problem with my cables or amplifier so i started checking everything, changing cables, unplugging etc. even went this far that i went out and bought new cables but that didn't do me any good. started up my old computer and no Popping sound or weird cracks what so ever, so i took the computer to a friends house and plugged it on this his audio installation (Audio-line out) the same problem occurred after 20min. so without a doubt was it a MacPro issue.
to finally check i even unplugged "every" external device (amplifier,mixer..) and used the internal build in speaker just to check if it had the same issues, and yup same thing with the internal speakers there's this loud Pop also.
Caled Apple explained everything and the offered to ship me a new machine since this one obviously isn't working as it should.
i have received my replacement Mac Pro 2 days ago and guess what, EXACTLY the same problem with this one. One would think that since this one has the same issues its not the Mac Pro but I'm absolutely without a doubt 100% sure it is a the Computer, why because even when nothing is plugged in and i use the internal speakers it still pops, also when i take it (again) at a friends prof. recording studio and test it there ...POP same story.
you can best describe the loud pop i hear with an audio cable that you plug-in or out of a powered amplifier, it gives this loud crack.
The sound studio guy said that he thinks it has to do with the sound chipset waking from sleep or something in that direction
question is are there people here whom know how to fix this (if its even possible to fix) or people whom experienced the same problems?
What do i do now, call Apple again and ask again for a new machine? i mean we are not talking ipods here, its a really expensive machine and it should just work without me getting the living daylights scared out of me 3 times in one hour. I want a computer that works point blank.
Hate to call Apple again, i lost loads of time already and they probably going to suggest the same thing all over again...try installing OSX again, do hardware check...etc. been there and didn't do me any good.
what should i do and does anyone know how to fix this extremely anoying problem
hope to get some reply's as i would really appreciate it

Mac Pro (6-core) 3.33GHz here too, running OS X 10.6.4. Same issue. However mine happens ever so randomly. Sometimes it doesn't happen for a whole 3hours then suddenly, for a split second there's that pop/crackle sound. I used to have the same speakers plugged in a mid-2009 15" MacBook Pro and it never had that problem. To think that i spent over £3000 on a high-end desktop workstation makes me wonder why the **** are they even priced ever so ridiculously?? I mean if it has such a pathetic problem such as this. Quality control isn't what it used to be for Apple it would seem. Glad that I'm not the only person with this problem, and I'm sorry to hear that this has happened to many of u who caved in nearly 2 months salary (I may be on scholarship, but still, money is money) to buy a high-end workstation like this.
My specs are in my sig at the bottom. Did all the necessary updates, except for iTunes (running on 9.2.1) but I dont think iTunes 10 addresses problems like these. Definitely not an iTunes problem because even if there's nothing playing there's still that pop sound. Thing is, mine doesn't happen so frequently, but it does happen on occasion, but for a +£3000 machine, IT'S UNACCEPTABLE!! Get it together Apple! Plus this is not my only Mac Pro issue, got a Kernel Panic the other day because I was tethering my iPhone 3GS 32GB (iOS4.0) via USB to my Mac Pro for internet and the kernel panic grey screen came up. Lesson learned, i wont be USB tethering my iPhone EVER AGAIN, but I'm not going to refrain from using my audio on my Mac Pro, am I right? Anyway, this rant is rather annoying, I sure as **** hope that it's just a software issue and that an update SOON will help resolve this!
Have any of u guys reported this issue to Apple? Because if enough of us who spent copious amount of money on this report the issue, they are FORCED to find a fix. Because I dont wan to have to ring Apple and be on hold for hours before I have someone tell me "ye...just send it back to us". Because: a) I'm not going to post it to them, takes too much **** time. b) Even if i were given a new desktop, I dont want to have to start from scratch, unless they're willing to migrate all my data on to the new desktop and everything will be as my last desktop was. AND c) I know i said this enough, but this is an expensive desktop and issues like this shouldn't even be roaming around...
Please note, my Mac Pro is ONLY 3days old.
I hope again that this is SOFTWARE/FIRMWARE related. and an update should fix this!
