I may be trying to search for an App. or book (or anything else), trying to access iTunes store, checking for updates to Apps., inputting my password, etc. etc. I have uninstalled iTunes several times, reinstalled several times, but the error persists. I tried the iTunes 10 suggested fix of running in safe mode, but iTunes again crashed when I was trying to create a new ID.

If the problem is iTunes slowing down and not appearing to run correctly, you should check  this Apple article out-> Apple software on Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store
You may want to try resetting Winsock as a temporary fix.
    1. To do so, please do the following in an administrator user:
Windows Vista and Windows 7: Right click All Programs and choose Accessories > Command Prompt. Choose to open as an administrator.
Windows XP: Click Start > Run and type in cmd.
    2. Enter the following command:
    netsh winsock reset
    3. Restart the computer and test the issue.
Note:  If the issue returns, third-party software may be reinserting the LSP.

iTunes and QuickTime have never been supported on the 64-bit version of Windows (look here for the official statement). Some people have managed to get it working (at least tolerably), but from what I've read, a recent update from Microsoft has caused a lot of problems. You might try rolling back recent Windows updates and see if you can get things working again.

  • Converting QuickTime Videos For iPod, iTunes Crashes on Windows

I was trying to convert some Quick Time movies (RvB Seasons 1-3) for my iPod, this is not my first time doing this but this is the first time I am having this problem. One day I open iTunes and try to convert these movies, like 10 seconds later the windows thing comes up and says “iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close” in the technical stuff it gave me it pointed to quicktimeessentials.qtx as the problem. So I searched for this file and deleted it Problem Solved! Or at least I though so when iTunes was able to convert my videos but now no Quick Time video will play right, so then I put the Quick Time file back where it was supposed to be, I can now watch my Quick Time movies but iTunes keeps crashing. Somebody Please Help!

    hiya!
I can now watch my Quick Time movies but iTunes keeps crashing.
just checking. is it currently crashing with that message when you try to launch itunes, or just when you try to convert those videos?
if it's just when you convert those videos, let's check to see if it's a problem with every file, or just the ones you have at the moment. will itunes crash if you try converting the sample file from this document?

  • ITunes crashing in Windows 7 when using Match

Have tried to uninstall iTunes. Have tried to allow traffic through antivirus (Kaspersky) everytime on the 2nd or 3rd step iTunes crashes.

Some music files can cause crash iTunes. I tracked down such files in my collection and just removed it from itunes while it was matching files. It worked, iTunes does not crashed any more. After that I could add them to my local collection and set to not upload them to iCloud. In my case the files causing crashes of itunes were those over 100MB.

  • ITunes Crashes on Windows 7 64-bit

I've been having a lot of problems with iTunes recently, crashing randomly.  Sometimes it crashes at start up, sometimes when importing a CD, sometimes when synching my iPhone 4, sometimes just when I plug my iPhone into my computer.  I had trouble finding a reference to the fix, and wanted to post this link.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1717
For me, when I created a new user account, with Admin priveledges, iTunes seemed to work.  I tried the first couple of suggestions, in the article in the section labeled User Specific Troubleshooting, and iTunes has been working ever since that time.  Since I had trouble finding a forum post that referenced this article, I decided to post about it.  I'm sure there are forum posts that list it, but I didn't find them in my searches.  So, in case someone else is having the same problems, or similar, try the suggestions on the page above.  Good luck!

I have downloaded itunes with quick time sevral times using my eeepc running windows 7 starter which is a 32 bit system. After successful installation it crashes within seconds of openeing it. Hello anjali,
I would recommend this article named iTunes for Windows Vista or Windows 7: Troubleshooting unexpected quits, freezes, or launch issues found here http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1717
    Start iTunes in Safe Mode
Open iTunes in Safe Mode to isolate any inference with plug-ins or scripts not manufactured by Apple.
Hold down the Shift and Control keys while opening iTunes. If performed correctly, you should see a dialog that says "iTunes is running in safe mode" before iTunes finishes starting up.
After clicking Continue, determine whether the issue you were experiencing persists in Safe Mode.
If you see the same issue while iTunes is in Safe Mode, proceed to the Create a New User Account section below. If you do not experience the same issue, consult iTunes: Troubleshooting issues with third-party iTunes plug-insfor steps on how to remove third-party plug-ins.Create a New User AccountWhen troubleshooting a variety of issues, it can be useful to determine if the issue affects a specific Windows user account or all accounts. Follow the steps below to create a new user account in Windows Vista or Windows 7:
From the Start menu, choose Control Panel.
Open Add or remove user accounts (If using the Classic View in Windows Vista, open User Accounts. Then open Manage another account).
Select Create a new account and follow the instructions to complete the account setup process.
Once the new account is created, choose     Log Off from the     Start menu.
Log into the newly created user account.
Open iTunes and determine whether the issue you were experiencing persists in this new user.
