ITunes + Crashed Computer = No More Songs

Hi, I downloaded over 200 songs to one computer, which is now crashed. We got a new one, but when I signed into iTunes, none of my songs were there! I went to our local AT&T Store (My iPod is an iPhone) and they told me about something called an iTunes ReGrant. Does anyone know what this is, or how I can access it? Anything concerning this would be helpful. Please and thank you!!!

Sorry, but officially Apple does not allow redownloads of purchased items other than iPhone/iPod touch applications. It's your responsibility to make backup copies (as iTunes itself advises) in case something goes wrong with your system, as unfortunately it apparently did in your case, and you lose all the information on your hard drive. The official statement of their policy can be found here, among other places. If your old computer's hard drive was erased so that you can't get the tracks from it and you don't have a backup of your purchased items, and don't have them on an iPod, you're probably out of luck and will need to repurchase your tracks.
If you have your tracks on an iPod or have them backed up, post back and someone here can help you get them restored. Otherwise you can try contacting iTunes Store Customer Service (select the "Music Purchases" or "Video Purchases" category, as appropriate, then "Lost or Missing Items". Then you'll see a button that says "Email Us") and explaining what happened. Reportedly in some cases Apple has allowed redownloading on a one-time basis. But don't count on it.
Regards.

  • ITunes crashed immediately after purchase -- songs never downloaded.

Yesterday I bought two albums and a single from the iTunes store. They were put in the download queue, and four songs from the first album were downloaded successfully.
Then iTunes crashed. Thank you, verson 7.
When I reloaded the program the four songs I downloaded were in the Purchased area of iTunes, but the rest of that album, the entire second album, and the single were nowhere to be found. They weren't in my Shopping Cart, they weren't on my machine.
    $22 for four songs. Wheee.
I sent in a support ticket from the purchase history area, but I received no confirmation email or anything to indicate that anyone was even aware of the problem. It's impossible to find a human being to talk to, and I have no idea how long it's going to take.
Has anyone dealt with this before? Any pointers? Any chance that I might get a refund? Because really, $5.50 a song is ridiculous.

    Fro-Man,
The best way to get support on an iTunes Store issue is to fill out their support webform.
    Go to http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/download/
and tell them what you told me and they'll get things straightened out for you. They can get it put back in your download queue.

  • ITunes saying I have more songs on my iPod than I actually do. Help!

I currently have a good amount of music on my iPod touch and I still have over 10gb left. But when I try to synced up my iPod to the laptop, iTunes won't complete the sync, saying I have several thousand more songs on my iPod than I really do. And then it goes on to tell me that I need 11gb more to finish the sync!
What's happening? It was working and syncing perfectly fine yesterday.

on iTunes, select your device and check the songs/albums you would like to sync with it.Do the same with your another device. This should sync the selected songs/albums only for that device.

  • ITunes crashes when viewing purchased songs on iPod Touch 4g, ios 6.1.3

Hi.  I purchased some songs in iTunes, then purchased a new iPod Touch 4g.  On it, I opened the iTunes app to attempt to download my song I purchased.  I went to purchased > songs > all, and then it opened an almost empty screen.  It remained open for 30-60s, and then the app crashed.  I cannot use iTunes on a computer.  Can someone help, please?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Go to Settings>iTunes and App Stores and sign out and sign back in.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Crashed Computer=No More Syncing?

So, my two year old iMac computer recently crashed this summer causing me to loose all of my pictures, movies and music (I over crowded the hard drive)
Now, I am unable to upload anything new to my iPhone without it wanting to erase and sync it (I don't want that, or else I'll loose all my music completely)
Is there a way to transfer all of my music back onto my computer from my iPhone or at least upload new music without having to erase everything
-or- am I stuck listening to the same 900+ songs forever until I quit being lazy and download everything over again...

The sync process for iTunes content is a one way transfer process only - from your computer to your iPhone, and an iPhone can be synced with a single iTunes library only.
iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content that was purchased from the iTunes Store from an iPod or iPhone, but this is for content that was purchased from the iTunes Store only.
With your iPhone connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.
After all iTunes content that was purchased from the iTunes Store is transferred to your new iTunes library, this will require erasing the existing content from your iPhone when syncing iTunes content since your new iTunes library is designated as a new or different iTunes library from the one you previously synced your iPhone with.
Time to invest in an external drive used for backup purposes only and include your iTunes library with your regular backup of all important data.

  • ITunes crashed computer

    Hey guys
About a week ago I was downloading 7.5, I restarted my computer (windows xp) but the computer kept restarting over and over again without me doing anything. Since, the computer's been fixed and all my files as far as I know are safe. However, what I wanted advice on was, when i click itune's desktop icon the contract agreement pops up. I don't want to accept it because I'm afraid of downloading the same 7.5 version that had crashed my computer and when i decline the window closes. Does anyone know a way i can return to the previous version, or whether or not apple is planning on an update to fix the bugs in 7.5? Thanks

  • ITunes crashing computer repeatedly

I am having crashing problems when using iTunes for windows on my dell dimension 4500. If I switch between applications (iTunes to something else or vice versa) my machine will reboot. Also sometimes when I insert a cd to rip to my library the computer will reboot. Any time that these reboots happen when it comes back up it says the system has recovered from a serious error. The system error log states - The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x100000d1 (0xf0f1d7ef, 0x00000002, 0x00000001, 0xf39aa428)

The saga continues...the dialogue I got from booting the machine and using OS X startup disk, in the utilties/repair disk work:
    Repairing Disk
    Checking HFS Plus volume
    Checking Extents Overflow
    Checking Catalog file
Reserved fields in the catalog have incorrect data
Reserved fields in the catalog have incorrect data
    Checking multi linked files
    Checking Catalog hierarchy
    Checking Extended attributes files
    Invalid leaf record count
(it should be 2 instead of 196)
    Checking volume bitmaps
    Checking volume information
    Repairing volume
The vol HD was repaired successfully
    2 volumes checked
    1 HFS vulme repaired
1 volume could not be repaired
What does this mean? Any ideas? Thanks again for all your help!!

  • ITunes crashing computer completely

I have just today installed the most recent iTunes on my new Acer Windows 7 laptop. It ws working fine and then I closed it. A little later I clicked to open it and it crashed my computer. So I tried to uninstall it and guess what? My laptop crashed AGAIN. When I don't touch anything iTunes related it works normally but slower. Before iTunes my laptop was running quickly and efficiently, the programs didn't do the 'Not Responding' thing but it is now. What should I do?

Hi. I would just like to ask if you found a solution for your problem. It looks like I have the same problem as you. Everytime iTunes opens, it crashes my computer. The only thing I could do after my laptop crashes is to hold the power button until my computer completely shuts off. I also tried uninstalling iTunes but it also causes my computer to crash!

  • After updating ipod touch to iOS 5 it doesn't connect to itunes (or computer) any more.

After updating my ipod touch 4G to iOS 5 it doesn't connect to itunes (or my computer) at all.
itunes shows an error. I can't turn it on or off either. i can only see the black screen with the apple while it's (aparently) working.
my itunes is the latest version, that shouldn't be the problem.
    can anyone help me?!

The updating on the iPod only is a feature of iOS 5. yu first have to connect to your syncing computer and upadate to iOS 5. After that you can do subsequent updating via wifi without a computer.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.  Use your backup copy to put everything back.
If you have failed to bakup, then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod: File>Transfer Purchases
