ITunes crashed Library....how to restore it ?

Hi !
From a HD crash, i was able to recover by iTunes Music folder (containing my mp* file, sorted with iTunes system (folder artist etc...)). So i would like to build a new library from this folder. How can I do ?
Thanks,
RedVivi

iTunes won't offer to download previous purchases if there is a broken entry looking for the lost track. Delete that entry, don't hide from iTunes in the cloud, then redownload from your purchase history.
For cleaning the dead links here are two alternatives:
Lost & Found Playlists
Create a playlist called Found, select everything in Music and drag it into the Found playlist (it may take some time to count the tracks that are to be dropped). Create a smart playlist called Lost matching All the rules Playlist is Music and Playlist is not Found. Your lost tracks will be in this playlist. You should be able to select all the tracks in this playlist with CTRL-A and then remove them from iTunes with CTRL-SHIFT-DELETE. In the unlikely event iTunes asks if anything should be kept or recycled you've made a mistake somewhere.
However I prefer to use iTunes Folder Watch with its option to Check for dead tracks on startup selected.

  • I deleted some files from my iTunes music library, how do I get them back?

Hi there, I hope you can help.
I have had an 80Gb iPod for a while now, but it got full, so I was deleting stuff that I didn't listen to very often from my iTunes library as I added new music. However, I kept all the music in my iTunes Music folder.
I have now purchased a 120Gb iPod, but obviously some of my music is only in the iTunes Music folder, but NOT actually in my music library within iTunes. Is there a way to sync the entire library with the new iPod (ie. including all the albums that I deleted from my iTunes library to accommodate new ones), or will I have to manually check my entire iTunes music library against my iTunes Music folder?
In essence, what I want to do is the opposite of consolidating my iTunes music library into my iTunes Music folder - to get all the music in my iTunes Music folder back into the library, without duplicating the stuff that's on there already. I hope that's clear...?
    Best regards,
    Matt.

Try iTunes Folder Watch for rereading the content you deleted, assuming you only removed it from the library, not the media folder. If you deleted the tracks then restore those that remain from the recycle bin first.
When you are finished you should have a new playlist with all the tracks that iTFW found. Rename this Exclude and then create a smart playlist called, say, iPod Music with the rules Playlist is Music and Playlist is not Exclude. This is the playlist you sync with your device, and any time it grows too large just find some more stuff to throw into Exclude.

  • Consolidating itunes media library-how to shorten file names or how to find the file that is creating the problem?

Hi I've switched to Mac for six months now, so is still new to mac and I am using my old 1TB windows PC side by side for my music collection. Now I have seen the posts already in apple community about consolidating itunes music library but could not get the proper way of doing it. My system and itunes is also saying 'file name is too long' and it stops but the questin is how do I know which file is creating the problem and how do I shorten it?
If anybody can answer I'll be obliged to him/her, because its my 6/7 years of music collection stuck in an old pc. Thanks in advance.

By 'it stops' I meant the consolidation process in itunes stops.

  • Computer crashed -- ITunes files gone -- How to restore music library???

Computer has crashed, and my Itunes library was not backed up. Can the music files be transferred from the Ipod to the computer to recreate the library??

Ok, first of all, now is the time to develop a back-up strategy, because iPods and PC's do crash from time to time. You invest a lot of time and money into your music library, why not on a back up strategy? I recommend either investing in an External Hard drive. They frequently are on sale, especially this time of year with the holidays. Or, you could back up your library by switching the burning mode into Data CD and burn Data CD's or DVD's of your library. I would really recommend having your library backed up in a couple ways.
Ok, so there are freeware programs and rather cheap third party programs that will allow you to rip your iPod library onto your PC. Try YamiPod, CopyPod, iPod Transfer or one of the plethora of programs out there. YamiPod is free and quite good, from what I hear. Good Luck and back up your library often.

  • Itunes 12.1 has wiped music library - how to restore it?!

Updated to iTunes 12.1 last night and iPod Touch 4th Gen also updated to IOS 8.1.3.
Went to use my iPod today and all of my music has disappeared. Logged onto iTunes and it has all disappeared out of the library but shows in the "music" section of the iPod summary page. Tried restoring from backup and re-syncing but now any trace of the 1900 songs has completely disappeared.
Have tried a few of the suggestions online to no avail.
    Can anyone help?

  • Deleted my itunes library, how to restore or redownload?

i recently deleted my itunes library by mistake.  i thought i had only deleted what i wanted to delete by instead the whole library is gone.  is there a way to recover it or is it gone for good?   i've been trying to re download the previously purchased from itunes music by it keeps taking me to the new itunes download page which i can not download because i'm using osx 10.4.11.  as long as i can get the music i had gotten from itunes, i'll be ok.  other music i had on there was downloaded from cds i had.  thanks for the help.

No backup is not good at all.  This is very basic.  Please start backing up your computer.

  • ITunes messed up - how to restore iPod to iTunes?

My father has asked for some help. He has an iPod, which was correctly sync'd to his iTunes on his Windows XP computer.
However, some 'expert' came and messed with his computer. Now, his music is spread over a couple of folders, and the iTunes appears to have some duplicates. (His iTunes also no longer plays any music, but that can wait until we've resolved the first problem.)
I'd like to help him completely clean up the mess and restore iTunes to a pristine condition, correctly sync'd with his iPod. I had a good look at his computer, but as I don't have iTunes or an iPod, I don't know what to do next!
    How can he...
    1. Wipe out everything from his iTunes (and from the folders) on the computer, and then:
    2. Restore his entire iPod into his iTunes on the computer to the correct iTunes folder, and:
    3. Correctly get the automatic sync working again?
Obviously, I will back up the music that is already on his computer first, just in case!
As an extra note, his iPod is currently set up completely correctly, as he wants it, so at this point he doesn't want any changes to the iPod. He only wants his iTunes to work again.
Thank you to anyone who can offer advice.

All you can do is to restore and thus erase the iPod unless you can get a data recovery company to preserve the data.
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

  • HT4859 Faulty iCloud Restore, faulty iPhoto-itunes-iphone sync, how to restore iphone photos?

I just updated my iphone from IOS 6.0.1 to IOS 6.0.3 because my internet tethering could not work, but now Icloud is faulty and does not restore my photos, and yet is taking up 4GB of space... Anyone knows how I can download my photos?
Additionally my iTunes no longer have the 'photo's section so i could not sync my iphoto's photo into my iphone. So my iphone is left with 100 photos from the photo stream( Which i am unsure where it came from).
Thank you so much for taking the time to read and help me.

iPhoto should have prompted you after it finished the import, asking if you want to delete. It does in mine -- version 9.5.1
One way to quickly delete the photos still on your phone is to connect the phone to your Mac and open Image Capture. It allows you to select and delete photos from the camera roll without importing them via Image Capture.

  • Re: HELP! Registry entries deleted since Windows crash. How to restore?

    Hi All:
My server has experienced a registry crash. My MaxDB (ECA) was working perfectly before then. I restored the registry but this was prior to the install of ECA [ECC 6.0].
    Now all the entries for the ECA db is missing;
"dbmcli -d ECA" yields no such DB.
I have no backup of the DB, but all the OS files for the DB and all environment variables are present.
How do I get back this DB and all registry settings?
    Thanks
    Tony.

    Hi Tony,
sounds like this is quite similar to what I've proposed in this thread: How to recover data and log
But first I propose you copy the database related config files (/sapdb/data/config/, /sapdb/data/wrk/) to some other place (just to have a backup in case anything goes wrong).
After that, reinstall the MaxDB Software via SBDINST. Make sure you choose the very same installation paths as you've done before.
Once the database software is installed again, you can reregister your database via db_create... as I've described it in the other forum thread.

  • Itunes crashes constantly, how to reinstall?

I have itunes 12.1.0.50 on a mac with yosemite 10.10.2 (i.e. everything is up to date).  My iTunes seems to have been corrupted.  After playing for a while it stops functioning, and I have to force quit it.  After that, it will hang immediately upon starting.  Doing a restart will let it function again, but it will crash within an hour or so.
I would imagine that I need to reinstall itunes.  Are there current instructions for doing so?  Doing a google search seems to return results about old versions of itunes.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
    Step 1
For this step, the title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
In the top right corner of the Console window, there's a search box labeled Filter. Initially the words "String Matching" are shown in that box. Enter the name of the crashed application or process. For example, if Safari crashed, you would enter "Safari" (without the quotes.)
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
☞ The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
☞ Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
    In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ User Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of crash reports. The name of each report starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report related to the process in question. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful.

Please can someone help I purchased an album off of Itunes the other day (I am using a a mac osX Leopard and the latest version of Itunes) while downloading I had to close programme. The next day I started the downloads again via check for purchases. As downloading every track came up with a -50 error then itunes locked up.
When I reopened Itunes and checked for purchased items the tracks that had not yet been downloaded have disappeared and it cam up with an error library file is not recognised will be name it damaged.
