ITunes Crashes at End of Download

This past Wednesday, I upgraded to iTunes 8 and QuickTime 7.5.5 and since then have been having major problems downloading TV shows from iTunes. Before I explain the problem, I'll note that I have already tried a) uninstalling iTunes 8 and installing iTunes 7.6 and b) resetting all my Preferences (which I had to do for another problem), and the problem has persisted. I am now back to using iTunes 8.
When downloading large files, such as TV shows, iTunes has quit unexpectedly either during the download or at the very end of the download. If I were attempting to download a 500 MB TV show, for instance, the download would finish (sometimes), say 500 MB of 500 MB in the Downloads window, then the song I was listening to would stop playing, and iTunes would quit. I could find the TV file in Music > iTunes > iTunes Music > Downloads. It would be listed as download.m4v file under, say, "Fun Run, Pts. 1 & 2 _ The Office, Season 4 _ The Office.tmp," if I were attempting to download the episdoe "Fun Run" of +The Office+. The preview icon looked like a typical .avi/.m4v/movie file preview icon, except instead of showing a preview of the video file, it was gray. Trying to play the .m4v file in either iTunes or QuickTime would crash the programs.
I spoke to Apple Support yesterday and was told to take the battery out of my computer and hold the power button down for 10 seconds and do the other reset where you hold down 4 buttons after you turn the computer on (sorry, I don't remember the name of that reset). That didn't help. The tech support rep I spoke to suggested I use one of the iTunes Store support forms to e-mail in my problem, but none of the problems listed corresponds to the problem I'm having.
So, my question is, does anyone have any suggestions as to what I could do to fix this? Could it be a problem with the newest version of QuickTime? I was convinced that downgrading to iTunes 7.6 would solve the problem, but it did not.
Sorry this is so wordy (and possibly unclear). Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I have not had this problem downloading songs.

You know, I'm looking for answer for my own download problem and I tried the suggestions of clicking on help so that I could email support. Well, those links don't work for me. It just says that The Link Cannot Be Opened.

  • ITunes crashed while app was downloading

I recently purchased a game from the iTunes store. Right after I clicked on "Buy App", my iTunes (version 9.01) froze. I ended the process because it did not recover. Now, when I go to the "Applications" tab, it does not have that downloaded game, but in the purchase history it includes the game. Is there any way to fix this? Do I contact iTunes or the game developer?
    Thanks

Unlike music/vids, you can re-download apps for free.

  • Itunes crashes when trying to download Podcasts

Just updated to 11.3.1.2, Everytime I press the Refresh button to download the latest Podcast, Itunes keeps on Crashing, I get the "Itunes has Stopped Working" error message and forces me to close it.
Is this happening with anyone else? I am unable to download the latest podcast if Itunes keeps crashing on me.

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If you've already tried a complete uninstall and reinstall try opening iTunes in safe mode (hold down CTRL+SHIFT as you start iTunes) then going to Edit > Preferences > Store and turning off Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases. You may find iTunes will now start normally.

  • ITunes crashes when attempting to download purchases. Solutions?

Ever since I installed iTunes on my current Windows 7 computer, I've had a persistent issue involving the program crashing when I attempt to download purchased items. I hav etried re-installing iTunes multiple time, but it has done nothing.
Is there a solution available that I am not aware of?

I just tonight restarted and logged into my Mac after this upgrade being applied. I discover that I am completely unable to play back song samples in the iTunes store. The first time I double-clicked an item, I got the immediate gray-screen "You must restart now." After restarting, I tried again, and this time it didn't even crash gracefully...the top third of my screen display has been overlaid with Linux-level white-on-black text, explaining the Darwin kernel's inability to cope with whatever the f*&k just happened. "Frame not mapped or invalid" was the gist of the message.
Good thing I have my Windows machine here to login and complain...

  • ITunes crashing when attempting to "download all" podcasts

Operating System: Windows 8.1 Professional 64
    Processor: Intel Core i7-3820 3.6GHz
    Installed Memory; 16GB
Hard drive: Samsung SSD 840 EVO 750GB (529 GB free)
    Software version: iTunes 12.1.14 64-bit
As iTunes default setting appears to be to deleting all played episodes, I've been forced to re-download available episodes of the podcasts to which I subscribe.  The issue, however, is that iTunes is now literally dying every time I attempt to "Download All", regardless of how many episodes need to be retrieved.
I don't remember having this issue prior to the newest release of iTunes, but I don't remember it being set to delete indiscriminately, either.
If there's a current workaround,  I'm amenable to using it, but I really wish Apple would quick tinkering with this to make it shinier for the dumb people...

  • Itunes crashed before programme fully downloaded

  • ITunes 12.0.1 crashes at end of movie download from iTunes Store

I have a Mid-2011, 21.5" iMac running Yosemite v10.10.1.  I upgraded from 4 to 8 GB of RAM about a year ago, but I don't think that's an issue with this problem.
I can no longer download movie or tv show purchases from the iTunes Store to iTunes v12.0.1 on my iMac.  The download starts and lists in the Downloads pane in iTunes.  However, once the download has completed and the Download progress bar message changes to "Processing..." iTunes crashes.  When I start iTunes back up again, the downloaded movie is not present in my iTunes Movie library.  However, if I navigate to the iTunes\Movies\ folder, I can see a folder for the movie and a file instance of the movie (in m4v format) for every attempted download.  Something seems to be going wrong with iTunes ability to add the link to the movie file into my iTunes library.
I tried adding the movie folder and file manually to iTunes using the iTunes->File->Add to Library... menu option, but iTunes instantly crashes the moment I click the "Open" button in the Add to Library... dialog window.
I have several movie purchases and gifts that I'd like to add to my local iTunes library, but this error is blocking me from doing that.  (Poop!)
Some weird things about my iTunes library on my iMac:
My iMac does not have a large enough built-in harddrive (only 500 GB) to store my iTunes library.  In a prior version of iTunes, I located the library on an external 3 TB USB-3.0 harddrive.  I'm wondering if there's a bug in iTunes 12.0.1 that occurs when adding content to the iTunes library when that content is located on an external harddrive, i.e. in a folder other than \User\{my username}\Music\iTunes Media\.  Perhaps I need to change the iTunes folder structure on the external harddrive to mirror the new folder structure in my \User\{my username}\Music\ folder.  I'm a little leery about doing this as I do not want to break all the links in my iTunes library to existing songs, movies, etc.
    Thank you,
    Isaac

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
For this step, the title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
In the top right corner of the Console window, there's a search box labeled Filter. Initially the words "String Matching" are shown in that box. Enter the name of the crashed application or process. For example, if Safari crashed, you would enter "Safari" (without the quotes.)
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
☞ The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
☞ Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
    In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ User Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of crash reports. The name of each report starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report related to the process in question. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful.
