Attempted fixes:
1. Moved iTunes library our of iTunes folder and launched iTunes. Failed
2. Updated iTunes to the latest 7.0.x version at the time. Failed
3. Fixed permissions (several iTunes permissions were fixed. Failed.
4. Dumped iTunes PLists and fixed permissions. Failed
5. Updated today to 7.1. Failed
Dual G5 2.3 Ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   512 KB L2 cache per CPU, 2.5 GB RAM Boot ROM ver 5.2.4f1

You may have a hardware problem or a seriously damaged hard disk directory. Try starting the computer from the installation DVD/CD. Run Disk Utilities and try to repair the hard drive. If it does repair anything, run Disk Utilities again and again until it gives the hard drive a clean bill of health. (It may be damaged more than Disk Utilities can handle.) If it repairs everything OK but you still have problems, run the Apple Hardware Test that should be on the installation disk. (Note: for that, you must use the original installation disk that came with the Mac, NOT an OS installation disk that you used to upgrade the OS.)

  • ITunes 12.1 freezing upon launch due to "determining audio volume"

My (Late 2011) MBP running Yosemite is freezing when I launch iTunes. It is 12.1, the latest version. Upon launch, it says "Determining Audio Volume" and is on the first of my several thousand songs. The spinning wheel eventually pops up and I am forced to forced shut-down my mac by holding the power button. I can't delete iTunes as it is "required by the OS" and I can't open it and go to the preferences to uncheck "soundcheck" because it freezes the entire mac upon launch.
Anyone experiencing the same issue or know what might fix it?
    Thanks

I had the same problem, but I think I've found a cure.
Even though Sound Check was disabled in preferences, iTunes would insist on Determining Audio Volume everytime it was launched. But there is also a 'Sound Check' preference in the Burn CD dialogue.
To turn it off you need to select a playlist, hit the Burn Disc button (bottom left) select Audio CD as the disc format and un-check 'Use Sound check'
Then you must hit the 'Burn' button (if you don't it will not remember the new settings) You can then cancel the burn by clicking the X in the itunes player window.
This has cured the problem for me

  • Why does iTunes crashing on iPhone after launch?

Why does iTunes crashing on iPhone after launch?

    Hey
First, try force closing the Music app, which you can find out how to do here:
iOS: Force an app to close
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5137
And if it still doesn't work when you try to re-open it, I would then reset the device:
    Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • ITunes crashing on  its Application Launch

    Hey,
I have iTunes and have had no problems until now. I imported some Rolling Stones mp3s into my library. iTunes ran the usual procedures i.e. add to library, get album information, determine volume and update genius.
However on the determining audio volume for one of the tracks iTunes crashed and took the OS down with it. On restarting the machine whenever I now open iTunes it just beach balls and makes the entire OS hang.
I love iTunes but I really want to fix this.
    Thanks,
    Dev.

    Try moving:
Home (or your user name) > Library > Preferences > ByHost >com.apple.iTunes.\[A Long Number].plist
to the desktop and restart your computer. This file saves the settings for that service and may be come corrupt. Removing it from the Preferences folder will result in a new file being created with default settings. If this helps you can trash the file but you may need to reset other things covered by that preference. If it doesn't help you can replace the newly created file with the old one and restart to regain the old settings.
Note, I run an older OS version as well as an older iTunes version, but it may well be unchanged.

  • I just downloaded the latest version of itunes for Windows and now itunes crashes every time i launch it

I just downloaded the latest version of iTunes for Windows and now iTunes crashes everytime I launch it.  I have tried re-downloading and selecting Repair with no luck.  Any suggestions?
    thanks

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If you've already tried a complete uninstall and reinstall try opening iTunes in safe mode (hold down CTRL+SHIFT as you start iTunes) then going to Edit > Preferences > Store and turning off Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases. You may find iTunes will now start normally.

  • ITunes crashing my computer

iTunes is resetting my computer. I'm in the middle of doing something in iTunes and the computer restarts without any warning.

It started working again. No more crashing. No explaination.

  • ITunes crashes my computer all the time.

I have installed itunes on my desktop and my laptop. When I got my ipod touch I connected it to my desktop and started getting things going. Since then, everytime I plug my touch to my desktop, it crashes. (not just itunes, my whole computer). Unfortunately I didnt have System Restore turned on for some reason so I cant go back. Now, my laptop has the exact same OS as my desktop, but it hasnt crashed but one time. Ive been having to connect the touch to my laptop when i want to sync or charge. I have Windows XP pro SP3 btw.
Now, I have read alot of post and I have tried everything from completely uninstalling itunes (atleast 6-7 times by now), uninstalling and reinstalling all my usb ports/drivers. There were no saved images on the touch either.
I havent had the touch plugged up to my desktop in a couple days but it still crashes from time to time when I have itunes running. Ive checked my system logs after it reboots and this is the closest thing I get to an error:
The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x1000007e (0xc0000005, 0x804f04fe, 0xba4f7a68, 0xba4f7764). A dump was saved in: C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini020609-01.dmp.
I tried looking for it too, but couldnt find anything. I REALLY dont want to have to use my laptop exclusively for my touch since most of my data and music is on my desktop.
If anyone knows exactly whats wrong or how to fix it, please let me know.

I seem to have exactly the same problem as FadedShadow 589, i just got the ipod touch and whenever i'm using itunes or am copying files my screen freezes and mouse and keyboard stop working so i have to power my computer on and off again. can anyone help?

  • Watching Sons of Anarchy in iTunes crashes my computer

Hello, I purchased season 1 episode 1 of sons of anarchy through the iTunes store, and when I watch it my computer crashes every time at somewhere between 2 - 5 minutes into the show. This is on Windows 7 x64, with a quad core CPU and 4 GB of RAM. My CPU cores never go above 15% utilization while watching, and plenty of RAM available, no irregular heat either. Video drivers are current, OS is fully patched.
I watch and transcode HD video all the time on my computer, from disc and file - never had issues. But I rarely use iTunes, so perhaps this is just a problem with that playback. Hard to tell since the DRM prevents me from actually troubleshooting this. Any thoughts? iTunes 10.0.1.22
    Regards,
    Rob

Even the standard definition versions crash my computer. But only for that 1 show, episodes from other shows I bought from Apple work fine. Last straw, running iTunes on Windows is just way to flaky for me, and they won't even answer questions about it at the "genius bar".

  • PGP crashes Mail.app upon launch

Since I installed PGP Desktop, Mail.app crashes upon launch. If I try to launch it again, it launches just fine. Usually with the second effort, sometimes it takes 3 times.
I removed the PGP.bundle and it's working just fine. Is there another solution to this problem or should I remove this permanently?

Try GPGMail - I have had no problems with it.

  • Upgraded iTunes, now iTunes crashes my computer when syncing photos to my iPod Touch, how to fix this?

I upgraded to the latest iTunes this morning, now when I sync to add more photos to my iPod Touch, it crashes my computer.  Why is that?  And how can it be fixed?

    *Replying to D&Z*
+But, it will do it at other times as well. If there is an error message - I do not see it as it happens too fast.+
We'd better check for a hidden blue screen, then.
    1) Open your system control panel (Start->Control Panels->System).
    2) Select the "Advanced" tab.
    3) Click the "Startup and Recover" section's "Settings" button
    4) Verify that under "System Failure" the "Automatically restart" checkbox is not checked.
Now try to provoke another crash.
With those settings in place, does a blue screen appear before the PC reboots?
If so, what numerical and text codes are you getting with it? (ie 0x\[zeros/letters/numbers] CAPSANDUNDERSCORES)
If the blue screen mentions a specific file (for example, “ati3duag.dll”), let us know what that is called too. (Exact spelling, please.)

Please,  run the DirectX diagnostics tool.
Go to Windows Start and in the Run box type dxdiag.exe and press the OK button. This will start the DirectX diagnostics program. Run this diagnostics and save the results to a file. Please, attach this file to your post.

  • ITunes crashes when trying to launch the iTunes Store

Having some serious problems with iTunes!
When iTunes starts up, it launches the store and promptly crashes. I've tried uninstalling (full), reinstalling, flushing the DNS, disabling internet security... Nothing seems to help.
If I turn off my internet connection and start iTunes, I can see the (empty) library. But once I turn the connection back on and try to open iTunes store, it crashes again.
I just get a generic Windows "iTunes has stopped working" message!
Have spent hours trying to fix this and not found any way to do it!
    Very grateful for any help!

This can happen when iTunes attempts to connect to the iTunes store.
Continue to disconnect your computer from the internet and open iTunes.
Go to iTunes Menu Edit > Preferences, "Advanced" tab and click the "Reset Cache" button, OK.
Now, use Windows Explorer to delete the contents of Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Download
You may try open again while connecting to the internet.

  • Itunes crashes as soon as launched

Whenever i launch itunes it crashes before it even opens saying itunes has stopped working and mobile helper has stopped  working.
i have looked around the web and apple support for an answerfor ages and can find one.
i am running vista 32bit and trying to run itunes 10.4
if anyone has an idea to fix this please help.

    ModName: objc.dll
    ModVer: 1.435.14.20
Taken at face value, you've got trouble with an Apple Application Support program file. (iTunes needs a properly functioning Apple Application Support to work correctly.)
Let's try the procedure from the following post. (Although it's for a 32-bit Vista/7, the technique is pretty much the same as on XP ... just read "Computer" as "My Computer" and "Uninstall a program control panel" as "Add or Remove programs Control panel".)

  • ITunes Crashed my computer!

I am running a PC, and after installing the new version of iTunes I received a message saying installation complete, please restart your computer. After restarting my machine the screen was black and I can not even boot in safe mode. I don't know what to do. Any suggestions at all would be great! Thanks apple.

The exact same problem happened to me and I still haven't been able to figure out how to fix this. Vista begins to boot but, just before loading the desktop, essentially crashes. Booting in safe mode doesn't help.

  • Itunes crashes and will not launch on Mac PC G5

I have a Mac PowerPC G5 Version 10.5.8 and Itunes Version 10.  I signed up for the cloud a month ago if that means anything and now Itunes has been crashing and will not open or if it does it will crash when trying to play a song. Any suggestions or ideas to figure out how to make Itunes launch?

Anyone? I can not get Intunes to load without crashing. See system setup above. Is there a fix that someone can suggest?
