ITunes crashes in iPhone sync. Not enough space
When trying to sync my iPhone with iTunes, the first several steps succeed, then am]n error message appears stating there is not enough space to continue. As soon as I click on the iPhone icon on the left, iTunes "unexpectedly quits"
Ther appears to be sufficient space on the hard drive and free space on the iPhone.
I am trying to restore to the last successful backup, (presumably there was sufficient space with that configuration), but as soon as I right-click to get to the restore command, iTunes crashes.
Any suggestions??

Use disk utility and repair the permissions on the drive. If it won't let you run it against that partition, you may need to copy the data off of it to another partition, format it, then copy the data back.

I am getting this Error Message coming up on PC:
The iPhone "UserName's iPhone" cannot be synced because there

My phone is a 16G.
I currently have 13.15GB of music on my physical iPhone.
I have deleted all songs (except purchased ones) on my iTunes Library (on the PC), I now have it down to 107 songs.
When I go to [Settings], [Music] and choose [Sync Music, Entire music library], it comes up with the error message above.
How do I get rid of all songs on my iPhone except for my purchased ones so I can have room on my phone again?
I tried to use a program called 'TouchCopy 12' a while ago but it has really confused me and I have doubled up on some songs?

Thanks in advance...It is possible that iTunes is slightly confused by what is and is not already on the device. In such cases it may think there isn't enough room when there should be. These steps will usually resolve such an issue:
Backup device.
Restore as a new device.
Restore the backup made earlier.
You should copy off the contents of the camera roll first unless you have Photo Stream set up and it reliably captures everything. It also assumes that all media content on the device is in your library. If that might not be the case see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
Apple's official advice on duplicates is here: Find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library. It is a manual process and the article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls such as lost ratings and playlist membership, or that sometimes the same file can be represented by multiple entries in the library and that deleting one and recycling the file will break the other.
Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created. If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin.
Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background, this post for detailed instructions, and please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping.
(If you don't see the menu bar press ALT to show it temporarily or CTRL+B to keep it displayed.)
The most recent version of the script can tidy dead links as long as there is at least one live duplicate to merge stats and playlist membership to and should cope sensibly when the same file has been added via multiple paths.

Whenever I plug in my phone iTunes says:
"The iPhone cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the items in the iTunes library (11.07 GB required, 6.86 GB available)."
The problem is I'm only trying to sync my music and 2 videos, which only totals about 4 GB. I've checked and unchecked all of the options and even restored my phone, but the error keeps popping up. In fact, now that I've restored it I only have Apps on it.There may be something wrong with your iPhone's backup.
Go to iTunes preferences, and under the Devices tab, delete your iPhone's backup - if there is more than one that you don't need, delete them all.
Control-click on your iPhone in the iTunes source list and at the menu window that appears, select Back Up to create a new backup for your iPhone.
Try restoring your iPhone again from the new backup created.
If this doesn't work, try restoring your iPhone as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup. -
Cannot restore backup to iphone because not enough space when i have 4 GB free?
Everytime I try restoring my iphone from backup it never works properly. This time, I get an error message when trying to restore from backup that says I don't have enough space, but I have 4GB of free space left. Why is this happening?

When backing up iPhone 5 to iTunes get message not enough space on computer
On backing up iPhone 5 to iTunes keep getting message "iTunes could not back up "M iPhone" because not enough space on this computer."
There is actaully 125 Gb free on computer. Have run repair disk permissions through Disk Utility

Thank youProblems such as yours are sometimes caused by files that should belong to you but are locked or have wrong permissions. This procedure will check for such files. It makes no changes and therefore will not, in itself, solve your problem.
First, empty the Trash.
Triple-click the line below to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):

☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). The command may take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear.
The output of this command, on a line directly below what you entered, will be a number such as "41." Please post it in a reply. -

Both are true.
Your have lost of iCloud space.
The problem is you need space on the iPhone.
On the iPhone
Setting > General > Usage select Storage
See what is taking up space on the iPhone.
Delete what you don't need. -
i just restored my ipad2 to iOS 6.1.3 yesterday. i have been trying to restore from backup, but i keep getting error messages from itunes (running latest version of itunes) that says there is not enough space to save the backup on the computer. i have tried clearing up as much space on my PC (windows xp), but there is still not enough room. and ive tried disk cleanup on my computer and resetting the ipad and running it through recovery mode (as some articles sugggested it would help with restoring after failed attempts). i read on another question in the apple support discussions that someone just moved his whole backup folder into his external harddrive and then he was able to restore from backup.
the backup is definitely saved on my computer (itunes confirms that), and the backup folder is supposed to be here \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\, but im still not finding it with that file path. i get as far as "username" and then i dont see "application data" and so on. but when i try searching that file path in google chrome, i find it and i see it, but its strange that i cant find it in the "docs and settings" folder in my C drive.

Trying to install ios on iPhone 4 but not enough space on c: drive on XP PC?
but itunes tells me i`ve not enough space on c:drive on XP PC? can I move the cache file/temp file to another drive where it has more free space??
If it only gave me the option where to back it up to and download the software to, I could point it to somewhere with loads of free gigs. ARGH can anyone help?I would recommend deleting contents off your hard-drive to make space (how much is left..you should be having 15% free as a general practice) and backing up the phone prior to upgrading.

That fixed mine. I have a sneaking suspicion it has something to do with pulling out from USB without ejecting for itunes/USB bus. Just like on any USB drive, open files will leave a mark behind if not closed properly. Honestly I have no idea why it does it. -

Yea... agreed I had about 160 GB free on my Hard drive and tried to synce my iPhone 5S (currently about 32GB in use of 64) and iit says I don't have enough free space. Uh...yes....yes I do. So I cleaned up backups in iTunes from my previous phone and moved some large files to my 1TB time capsule...now I have over 200GB Free...and yet...when I try to synce my phone and it moves to the "backup" part...it thinks for a moment...and then says...nope I don't have enough space on my hard drive. Must be new Apple Math? I ran diagnostics on my system...ran a full permissions check and cleaned up everything. Personally..this particular iMac is older. Stuck on 10.6.8 --- I'm thinking it's some sort of 64bit/versus 32bit problem. Still, this should be considered a software defect. Apple needs to create a fix. Alternately... yes...I would like a new iMac, but they aren't free so... if anyone wants to upgrade me I won't turn you down.

I transferred my files, including iTunes, to a new computer. When I go to sync, it says I'm still synced with the old, do I want to erase and resync. AND then it says not enough space. What to do?
Pictures, assuming they were taken with the device, can be copied off at any time. This has nothing to do with syncing.
If the pictures were instead synced to the device via iTunes, they are not the original images. Instead, they are optimized copies of the originals for display on the iPhone. There is software that can extract them, google it.
Where is the backup of the computer? And before you ask, the iPhone, like all iDevices, is not and has never been a backup device. -
Recently updated my iPhone 4 to iOS 6.1.3 and lost all of my contacts after doing so. Tried to restore phone to latest backup performed in iTunes but I get an error message that tells me there's not enough space on my iPhone to perform the restoration. The ultimate problem I'm trying to solve is the loss of my contacts so if there's another way to solve that please let me know. If restoring my phone is a proper solution please help me do so.

Please help!Contacts are not part of the backup. They are seperate and either you need to sync them with an email program such as outlook or use icloud mail,contacts, and calendars on the phone. Unless you did that then the contacts are gone.

I just replaced my iPhone 5 because of a cracked face. I backed up the old phone to iTunes. When I tried to restore my data off of iTunes to the new phone, I got an error message saying that iTunes could not restore the iPhone because not enough free space is available on the new iPhone. Now what?
I have Apple Care+, but I'll be darned if I can find any way to contact anyone at Apple to talk to about this. They take your money, but make darned sure they don't have to support you unless you jump through a bunch of hoops first, like this site.I've done a restore.. I backed up to my PC and attempted restore but I keep getting an error message that "iTunes could not restore the iPhone because not enough free space is available." I have a 32GB iPhone; only 13GB used!!! HELP! iCloud backup/restore did not work either! How can I resolve this problem to restore from back up.
If you're not a developer then you really should not have upgraded.
I'm unsure how you can fix this as you have already done a back-up on iOS 7 and apple don't support firmware downgrades. -
