ITunes crashes on MP4 files. Asks me to authorise computer, but then tells me it already is! ***?

I'm trying to open a download file that is marked simply as Download.  iTunes sends me a message telling me it is not Authorised to play MP4 files.  Invites me to Authorise this computer.  I do so, and it tells me this computer IS already Authorised.  I try to open the file again and get the same looped messages!  It's quite annoying.  Anyone know how to get out of that?

  • TS1389 Repeatedly asking to authorize a computer, but then says it is already authorized. I have tried all the fixes listed, nothing works! Now I can't sync my phone

Apple, why can't you fix this? I haven't even seen anyone from apple comment.
Every day that Jobs is gone, apple becomes more like Microsoft.
Does anyone have a fix? I have tried all the fixes short of a restore on my phone.

    Hello Becky,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with the explicit songs in iTunes.  Have you checked to see if the explicit content is restricted in your iTunes Preferences?
If you have "Music with explicit content" checked under the Restrict menu, it will restrict music that is shared, on iTunes in the cloud, and music in the iTunes Store.
Use the steps in the following article to check these settings:

  • After installing itunes 10 installation was successful but then tells me error 2 (windows error 2), After installing itunes 10 installation was successful but then tells me error 2 (windows error 2)

After installing itunes 10 installation was successful but then tells me error 2 (windows error 2).

Let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe, and select "Extract to iTunesSetup". WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup".
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you? If so, does iTunes launch properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • ITunes will not download purchased songs on an authorised computer.

    Hey there,
I bought a few songs on my laptop through iTunes around a year ago. Since then, my laptop has been wiped and a new OS has been installed. I went to authorise my computer, but it said it was already authorised. I have not reached my maximum five limit.
I have no option to view my purchases. I can see my download history on my account, but the usual option that appears on left hand side, unde the store and other playlists is not there.
If anyone could help me out, I would be really happy. Some great songs I want to listen to again!
    Many thanks, Max

You may want to contact the iTunes Store and give them your facts. They may allow a second download. It is worth a try. You can contact them here:

  • My iMac will not let me in to my iPhoto it asks me for my password but then still does not let me in

    Hi,
My imac will not give me access to iphoto. It asks me for my password but then when I input that it still does not let me in. Any suggestions. I have limited computer knowledge

    Back up all data.
Start up in Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open. In that window, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not going to reset a password.
Select your startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

  • Automatically add files to iTunes not processing mp4 files on Windows 8.1

I have iTunes 12.1.1.4 install on a Windows 8 (x64) system.  I have been using iTunes for quite some time and my library is located at c:\Music.  On earlier versions (version 10 of iTunes for example) I would drop an MP4 file into c:\Music\Automatically Add to iTunes" directory and iTunes would process this file and add to either the movies or TV Shows section.
I have not used this feature in some time but now have started to.  Currently, if I place the mp4 in that directory, iTunes does not do anything with the video.  I have gotten to using "Add Folder to Library" and iTunes will then process the directory.  I do have "Keep iTunes Media folder organized" and "Copy Files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library" checked.
How can I get iTunes to recognize that a file has been placed in this directory and process it?

    Two possibilities:
iTunes has processed the file but has categorized it as "Home Movies" rather than other video kinds - in this case you'll be able to find it under that heading in iTunes.  Note that there's a bug in iTunes 12 where even if you then change the media kind - for example, to "TV Show" or "Movie" - it will be shown in the new category in the iTunes UI but the files will still be in the "Home Movies" folder under iTunes Media
If iTunes has not been able to process the file, you should find within a Not Added folder under Automatically Add to iTunes - the most likely cause of this is that the MP4 files are using a codec that is not compatible with iTunes.

  • Premiere CC crashing when MP4 files in timeline?

I have a project that keeps freezing up whenever I try to play MP4 files in the timeline. Other codecs aren't having any issues, and this wasn't a problem with the previous version of Premiere CC.

It seems to be the newest version of Premiere CC that crashes every time a certain mp4 file plays in the timeline. The previous version of Premiere CC didn't crash with the same project and mp4 file. It has only started crashing since the v8 update. It crashes about 10-20 seconds every time it plays through the file.
Haven't installed any additional codec packs that I'm aware of.

pls help. i change the file preview of a movie file, and it shows that i have changed the preview in finder but when i open the folder on my dock, it shows the still of the movie instead.
the image shows the film the hangover as an example. the movie poster is visible in finder, but reverts to a default movie still from the dock. this only seems to occur for mp4 files.

its nothing to do with itunes, its movies form the internet. i got the file preview by taking an image off the internet, pressing command c and pasting it on top of the small icon in the get info section

  • Why is ITunes crashing when I try to sync photos from computer to Ipad?  I am using latest IOS 7.0.2 and latest ITunes 11.1.1.  Running Mac Pro with 10.6.8

I Tunes crashes when I try to sync photos (via USB cable provided with Ipad)  from computer to Ipad.  It worked fine before I downloaded the newest ITunes update.  I tried downloading the update again but it still crashed.

My iTunes keeps crashing when I try to sync my iPhone as well as when I try downloading the newest iPhone upgrade 2.2.1. I just tried to restore my iPhone and once again iTunes crashed (at around 224MB into the download of the upgrade).
    I've restarted my iPhone.
    Restarted my iMac.
    Re-installing iTunes.
Tried installing iTunes 8.0.1 (instead of 8.0.2).
Created a new user to check if that was the problem.
    All with no success.
Any help would be much appreciated.

  • Accidentally deleted iTunes, is there anyway I can download it again and have it just back up my iPod instead of clearing it of all data? All of iTunes files are still on my computer, but the actual program got deleted.

I was trying to clear space on my C drive and decided to delete programs that I didn't use or that I didn't recognize. (Bad idea, I know that now.) Anyways, accidentally deleted a program that iTunes needed to run and the computer said it would undo the uninstall and restart to fix the problem but when it restarted iTunes was gone. So my question is, after I download iTunes again, is there a way I can just backup my iPod to it's last sync (which was coincidentally right before I accidentally deleted iTunes) instead it being cleared of all its data? All of iTunes' files are still on my computer except the actual program itself.

    Hi, InsaneCharlie.
Thanks for the question.  I see you have uninstalled iTunes and want this program back.  Start with completely uninstalling iTunes if present and all of it's components in the order specified in the article below.  Once this is done, download and install iTunes.  If none of your data was modified in the iTunes media folder, then your data should be present upon installation.

  • Itunes crashes the whole OSX system when making multiple downloads and then I can't complete the download once I have rebooted

Is there a fix for this?
It keeps happening and is a real pain. I have the latest bversion of itunes.

Experiencing a similar problem with Mac Pro Dual Quad for at least the last 4 or 5 months. iTunes crashes OS with all applications quickly becoming unresponsive and spinning ball displayed. No erratic behavior is seen before the spinning ball appears. Requires a manual power down and restart to clear. Frequently happens when I am managing my Podcasts, seemingly more frequent if the iPod is attached to the system. The computer is used for a wide range of photographic, audio, video and business applications without issues. Only when iTunes is running does the OS hang occur. Typically after restart, several of the last transactions performed in iTunes are not found and have to be done again. Problem occurred with later versions of Leopard and latest Snow Leopard OS. Curiously, no problem report window to report problem to Apple has ever appeared after experiencing the OS crash.

  • ITunes freezes when I plug my iPod into my computer but no one else's

    Hi everyone,
Hopefully someone can help me out here. About a couple weeks ago (around the time the latest version of iTunes came out), my iPod (at the time I believe it was a 120GB iPod Classic. I've since replaced it with a 160GB iPod Classic.) would freeze up iTunes when I would plug it in (also if I open "Computer" in Windows Vista, that also freezes up).
I've tried everything almost everything I've been able to find when Googling the subject: Restoring the iPod one of the few occasions I CAN get my computer to read it. I've replaced the iPod (120GB iPod Classic) with a brand new one (160GB iPod Classic). I've run Check Disk on both my computer AND my iPod. I've cleared out the temporary files on my computer. I've made sure that I have all of my updates for both Windows and iTunes. I've run virus scans, disk defragments, etc. The only thing I haven't done is re-format the iPod but since this is a BRAND NEW iPod, I didn't think it would be necessary.
I also notice that when I bought my new iPod, it worked fine until I turned my computer off then turned it on the next day and I started running into the same problems again. Also, I've recently discovered that my iPod works fine on another computer so I'm thinking that my iPod isn't the problem.
I'm trying to be as specific as possible here but if anyone needs any more details to help me out here, I'd more than happy to let you know.
    Thank you.

    See Corrupt iPod classic.
