ITunes crashes when I try to view movies/ tv shows

I'm using iTunes 11.1 on windows 7 64 bit.
When I wanna watch a movie or a tv show iTunes freezes.
I have installed it again - problem not solved. I created a new windows account - problem not solved.
The only way I can watch the movies is in secure mode.... :/
Can anybody help me? I don't find any threads that solve my problem...
Best, Mareike
Additional information: i can watch the videos on my ipod after synchronization.....

Hey mariiieke,
It sounds like you followed most of the troubleshooting steps included in here:
iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8: Fix unexpected quits or launch issues
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1717
Specifically, it says this:
If you have the same issue while iTunes is in Safe Mode, proceed to the "Create a new user account" section. If you don't experience the same issue, follow these steps to remove third-party plug-ins.
Since it sounds like the issue doesn't happen in Safe Mode, I would follow the steps in here:
iTunes: Troubleshooting issues with third-party iTunes plug-ins

Due to this problem I cant watch rent movies anymore

  • Itunes crashes when i try to play a tv show

Yesterday I set up my nice brand new macbook pro, imported my programs and itunes library from my old Mac and everything went fairly smoothly (had to re-register Photoshop and Illustrator and redownload paralells)
The main problem has been itunes which I was prompted to upgrade and did.
First I had issues with the new library not synching to the apple tv but managed to fix that (though it seems to want to sync all over again over and over)
By far the worst problem is that when I click on a tv show (purchased from itunes) any tv show or movie - itunes crashes. Music and podcasts play just fine.
I have authorized this computer and it is an issues with previously purchases tv shows as well as two I just purchased to day.

    Hi, potatoqueen!
I have a couple of articles here to help you through the steps of troubleshooting for this issue. The first will help you troubleshoot the iTunes crash, and can be found here:

After troubleshooting that issue, if you are still having issues with video playback, you may want to reference this article to troubleshoot that issue:

  • ITunes keeps crashing when I try to view a TV show

Whenever I try to open up a TV show to watch, it says iTunes has stopped working and closes.
I have the newest version of iTunes 10
    It keeps crashing
I have a season pass so I got the free download thing and it usually works but it's not working. I also can't watch previously bought shows for iTunes on my TV shows library. It just crashes.
Is this happening to anybody else?!

I was having problems previewing videos and with iTunes shutting down with an error message even before I updated to iTunes 10. The sound on the videos was OK, but it pixels. However, I could watch purchased music videos and TV shows on my computer.
Now that I've updated to iTunes 10, the videos in my library do everything from pixeling to freezing, to blacking out, to crashing. I can't watch any of them for more than a couple of seconds.
Excuse my ignorance, because I'm not a tech person at all. If I uninstall iTunes and Quick Time and reinstall, will I have to go looking for my library? Updating to iTunes 10 was a HUGE mistake. Who has this much time to waste just to watch purchased videos??? Thanks for any advice.

  • Itunes crashes when i try to view burning preferences

When i open preferences and click on advance everything is working fine for the general and importing tabs, but when i click on the burning tab, itunes freezes. i have the most recent version of itunes

My PC lags when I click that button, its very slow to load and it appears frozen.
What speed is your CPU maybe that is causing it to appear to crash because of the time it takes to load.

  • Imovie crashes when i try to view the video full screen or export it. How do i fix this?

iMovie crashes when i try to view the project full screen and export it. How do i fix this?

Close out of the camera app, double tap the home button and completely close out of the app.
Then do a reset, no data loss.  Hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up.
Then check your camera roll again.

  • Why is my keynote crashing when i try to view in the light table?

My Keynote presentation crashes when I try to view it in the light table view, and the whole system has to be restarted. The file is not huge, only 54 slides, mostly graphics and video plus a little bit of text. It is under 1GB in size, which I can usually manage without issue. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Does anyone know of a solution or a workaround? I'd be so grateful for any help. Thanks!

Try this maintenance routine which has solved quite a few issues:
    1
    Close all applications
    2
Uninstall Keynote; this must be done with an application remover tool to delete the installation properly. Appcleaner is known to work correctly for this purpose, it is free and can be downloaded from here: Appcleaner Download
    3
    empty the trash
    4
shutdown the Mac and restart. After the start up chime, hold down the shift key until the apple logo appears
let the Mac complete the start up procedure completely, it will take longer than usual as the hard drive is being repaired
    5
go to;   Applications > Utilities > Disc Utility > First Aid > Repair Disc Permissions
when this is completed restart the Mac normally
    6
Reinstall Keynote using the original discs or logging into the Mac App Store and installing from there.
Post back to let others know if this helped

  • Itunes crashes when I try to authorise PC for Itunes match

I have just subscribed to iTunes match but having trouble with iTunes crashing when I try to authorise / enable my PC to use iTunes match.
I get a wt.exe error. Using Windoes XP. Any suggestions - tires reinstalling iTUnes but no joy.

If you're running iTunes 6.0.5, I would need the crash log to figure out why you're crashing.
Typically, you'll need to configure Dr. Watson on your PC in order to generate crash logs. Windows start menu -> Run. Type in "cmd". Hit return. At the prompt in the command line window that comes up, type in
    drwtsn32 -i
    And hit return.
This will create crash logs in Documents And Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson\. There'll usually be a file in here called "drwtsn32.log" If there's already a file there, it most likely has multiple crash logs in it (new crash logs are just appended to the end of the file). So, delete this file. This will make sure you're not sending extra information I don't need. These crash logs are text files, so you can open them in notepad or whatever to see what information you're sending.
So, get the machine setup to collect crash logs, do the thing that makes iTunes crash. Send it to me. It doesn't hurt to put the URL to this discussion thread because I get a lot of these messages and are easily confused.

  • ITunes crashes when I try to downlaod music from CD's

  • My itunes crashes when i try to play a song

My itunes keeps crashing when I try to access the Itunes store or when i try playing a song...HELP!!!

I solved it myself... for the benefit of those viewing...
    1) I ran Applejack as a "see what happens" step, as that's fixed interesting problems before
    2) Then ran disk utility, and blew out the hard drive (erased it) completely and did it as Mac OS Journaled
    3) Waved a rubber chicken around my head
    4) Restored the iPod in iTunes
    All works normally now.

I need to open another post !
When I try to download a purchased music, the iTunes crashes...
I've tried everything, unninstal, reinstall, delete all itunes folders and registers, everithing !!!

I'm having a similar problem (see thread below) - my purchased music videos used to play until I tried to move my library from my old PC to my new Mac. The restore kept failing as soon as a video file (.m4v) was encountered. Had to manually import blocks of music and avoid the videos. Now have my music again but iTunes just crashes when I try to play the music vids I bought from iTunes.
