ITunes crashes when try to Transfer Purchases from iPhone

When i try to transfer the songs i purchased on my iphone to itunes library by clicking transfer purchases, i get the following message: "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close" and i get kicked out.
I've tried unistalling itunes / quicktime and reinstalling them, but same problem persists. Latest edition of itunes installed. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

I have the same issue, have you had any joy? My transfer gets right to the end, and then shuts itunes down and doesn't complete the transfer?

  • Itunes closes when trying to transfer purchases from ipod or iphone

Using a PC with Vista.  Installed iOS 5 this morning.  Cannot update either ipod touch 3g or iphone 3g with software update until "prior purchases are transferred to itune" - unfortunately every time I try to "transfer the prior purchases" Itunes closes completely.  I've been working on this for hours now.  Anyone got any ideas how to get around this?
    Thanks.

If you are using iTunes, you cant transfer purchases in the iPod to the Mac, you need 3rd Party Software.

  • Purchased ringtone  iphone 4 that is not in my itunes library when i click transfer purchases from it appears in the tones library but in a paler shade of print with a dotted circle to the left of it when i take any action it disappears

have purchased ringtone on iphone 4 not in my itunes library when i click devices, transfer purchases from, it appears in tones in my library but in a paler shade of print with a dotted circle to the left of it, if i try to click on it or take any other action it disappears and leave a blank space i have tried this several time i want to transfer library to my new iphone 5 but i will loose the ringtone

I had the exact same issue!! Seriously p*ssed me off when I checked out my ITunes purchased items (via my computer) and noticed that most of the additional tracks listed on my IPhone playlist was listed there too. However, I never authorized any purchases!!  (I have actually written Apple Support asking for a full refund of all tracks listed on my purchased list)
Be careful when you swipe your finger to the left/right on those "additional" tracks on your IPhone playlist... I'm pretty sure that the cloud symbol is an option to download or automatically buy those tracks.
    Solution for the problem:
1 - go to your IPhone settings
    2 - choose "iTunes & App Store"
3 - go to "Show All" & "Music"
4 - turn off "Music" by moving the bar to the left (it should be a white color once you turn it off)
    Should solve your problem :~)

  • Help: iTunes freezing when I try to transfer purchases from iPad 2.

iTunes freezes when I try to transfer purchases from my iPad 2 to my laptop (MS Vista). It starts to transfer purchases but eventually results in iTunes not responding or my device timing out.  I've tried Disk Cleanup/Defrag and uninstall/re-install of iTunes in the correct sequence. Can anyone please help me?

How is your iPod configured to sync music? In other words, what options and configurations do you have enabled from under your iPod's Summary and Music tabs in iTunes?
Maybe have a look at this article as well to verify your iPod is set up for syncing music.

I have a new mac, but every time I try to transfer purchases from my iphone to it, it says it is not authorized. But it IS!~ And it uses a very old default email. I then authorize it, it tells me it is authorized already. I tried unauthorizing and re-authorizing. I have looked up help and done what it says. I tried finding users/shared/sc info  but that file is not on this Mac. My Mac is fully updated.

  • TS1389 Error message: transfer purchases from iphone into itunes not authorized.  But the computer IS authorized.  Any suggestions?  Thanks

Trying to transfer purchases from iphone into itunes I keep getting error that computer is not authorized.  But it IS authorized,  any suggestions?  Thanks,

    It's a straightforward port-forwarding issue.
You need to forward ports to the internal ip address of your apple tv as follows:
    TCP 123
    TCP 3689
    UDP 5353
    TCP 80
    TCP 4343
    TCP 53

  • Transfer purchases from iPhone before upgrade to 3.1.3

    Hi all -
I hadn't synced my iPhone in a while (gasp) and when I did, I didn't have time to do a full software update. When I just went to finally do the 3.1.3 upgrade, I ran into some trouble.
I first did a full backup and sync. I then went to hit "Upgrade" and it gave me the ""There are purchased items on the iPhone that have not been transferred to your iTunes library..." message. I did both the File > Transfer Purchases from iPhone and also the right click on my iPhone under Devices and chose Transfer Purchases. So, now I should be clear, right? Wrong.
    Still getting the error message.
All of the purchased music in my iTunes library shows up as transferred in my Music in iTunes. So, could it be an App or something else? And, shouldn't that have transferred when I used that option (as noted above)?
Any help? I want to get the upgrade done and move on. Thx!

I'm having the same issue and have had this issue for a while with both my 3GS and my wife's 3GS. I verified that all songs purchased on my wife's phone were showing up in iTunes and then ignored the message stating I still had purchases that had not been transferred and updated to iOS4 anyway.

  • ITunes crashes when I attempt to open my iPhone within iTunes

Since updating iTunes and installing the latest iphone software iTunes crashes when I attempt to open my iphone in the device panel. I therefore cannot perform any manual functions on my phone through iTunes. I'm running 10.7.3 and iTunes 10.6.
    Any suggestions?

Do you have any better luck with that if you update to iTunes 10.6.1.7?
From the notes for the release:
iTunes 10.6.1 provides a number of improvements, including:
    • Fixes several issues that may cause iTunes to unexpectedly quit while playing videos, changing artwork size in Grid view and syncing photos to devices.
    • Addresses an issue where some iTunes interface elements are incorrectly described by VoiceOver and WindowEyes.
    • Fixes a problem where iTunes may become unresponsive while syncing iPod nano or iPod shuffle.
    • Resolves an ordering problem while browsing TV episodes in your iTunes library on Apple TV.

  • ITunes crashes when attempting to play purchased tracks

Hoping someone can help me here. iTunes crashes when attempting to play tracks purchased from the iTunes store. Music imported from CDs still plays fine. They have played preiously but not since downloading and installing 7.0.2.16. QuickTime is up to date and I only have 1 PC authorised. Help!
Dell Dimension 5100   Windows XP Pro

There's another thread on here that suggested re-installing iTunes. That works for me (in that the videos play), but I have to re-install iTunes every time I want to watch them which is a pain. So if anyone has a more permanent fix...

  • I have mistakenly opened up a new iTunes account. Can I transfer purchases from one account to the other?

I have recently bought a new iPad mini and tried to set it up and share with my old iTunes account.
I thought I was changing email addresses for contact info, but was actually setting up a new iTunes account and paid for the £21 a year sharing service.
I have a few (not many) tunes purchased on my old iTunes account.
Is there a way of merging/closing my old account and transferring purchases across to the new iTunes account?
I could swap between the two, but doing that on the phone/ipad will mean I cannot swap back for 90 days!!!!!
    Thanks
    mel (uk)

Did you ever get around to transfer purchases from your old iPhone to iTunes in your computer.  If you did, your ringtone will be there and all you need to do is sync it back to your new iPhone.
Ringtones can only be downloaded once from the iTunes Store that is why the user guides recommend that you transfer purchases from the iPhone to the computer.
If you never synced your old iPhone to iTunes, then you need to do that now so that you can get your ringtone on your new iPhone.

  • Transfer Purchase from iPhone 5s to iTunes reducing free space?

Sometime I Transfer Purchases from my iPhone 5s 32GB running iOS 7.0.4 using iTunes 11.1.4 for Mac and recently notice it reduced free space on the iPhone, even before doing any sync from iTunes.. several weeks ago just before Transfer Purchases there was 7GB of free space on the iPhone, after Transfer Purchases there's only 5.3GB left, I restart the phone and there's 5.9GB left
Today there's 5.7GB free space, after Transfer Purchase there's only 4.3GB left, after restart the phone 4.7GB left
Wondering what Transfer Purchase actually doing with the phone that increase the storage usage up to more than 1GB permanently..? and how do I reclaim those free space?

  • Itunes crashes when trying to transfer music

I have been having problems with my new 160gb ipod classic and transferring songs from itunes. I have had no problems with it verifying the ipod. When I try to transfer songs it will just crash for no reason and blue screen my computer. I've just updated my computer to Windows 7 and installed itunes 9.2, my previous Windows Vista was using 9.0 and I had no problems. Is anyone else having crashing issues when trying to transfer songs? The only way I have been able to get my songs onto the Ipod is doing it 2-3 songs at a time and even then it will still crash eventually. This is taking forever to import my cds onto my boyfriends new Ipod. I have yet to try my own Ipod classic to see if that has problems as well.

Did You try downgrading iTunes to older version ? I can see that others have had problems with new version of iTunes. If that fails, try to select playlists in iTunes to sync one by one ( manually of course ).
