Itunes Crashes Whenever I Update(Nothing to do with Podcasts)

Recently I restored my Itunes. Before I did that I unhide all my music files and placed it on my computer. After the restoring, I placed all the music I had in my Itunes onto my Ipod, then cleared my Itunes library, and put all the music from my Ipod back into the library(because I had at least 200 songs that were on my Ipod and not in my itunes library). So after I put all the music from the library into my Itunes, and I mean all of it, because I knew the Ipod would keep most dupilcates away. And it did, I would say about 30-40 songs got duplicated.
So yeah after all that, I couldn't remove/add, restore, or disconnect my Ipod without all of Itunes freezing up. What is going on? How should I fix this? Is it the duplicate thing, I don't get it. It worked when I put all the music into my Ipod, but now it won't work at all. It freezes everything and I have to use task manager to close my Itunes. Is it just 7.3, should I use 7.2. Where do I download that because whenever I go to Itunes I just get 7.3...

Just to fill out BDaqua's good advice a bit so you get some idea as to what is going on:

  • ITunes 10 crashes whenever I try to do anything with podcasts.

Okay.  So I can manage playlists fine, sync my iPod, and download podcasts from the Store, but whenever I so much as click on the Podcasts tab to look at or-- god forbid, Refresh-- iTunes freezes and stops running.  I have reinstalled iTunes and repaired Quicktime.  Nothing seems to work.  Help!

Negatory.  I've done that: no help.
After consulting with a support guy on the phone, we finally made some progress by moving one of my library files.  When I started iTunes back up, all of my podcasts were gone...but iTunes worked.  That is, at least until I started trying to resubscribe and redownload podcasts.  If I try subscribing to a podcast, I have a 75% chance of it crashing iTunes; I can check this by trying to go into my Podcast tab as it's downloading.  If I can click on all my podcasts and look at them while a new one is downloading, then the new one is fine and safe; if it freezes and crashes, then I know not to try to download that podcast again.  And yes, it seems to be specific podcasts that cause it.  This is really annoying.

  • ITunes crashes, whenever I want to listen to music

I don' have any problems to import music from CDs to my hard disc, but then ITunes crashes whenever I want to listen to music from my hard disc. Usually not only iTunes, but alll the OS. Could somebody please tell me what might be the reason for that annoyance? Thank you very much!

When I use iTunes to listen to music on my G4, it plays fine for about an hour ... then triggers a restart of the whole system. It happens plugged in, on battery power, with the network available, without the network available, with AirPort on or off ... in short, it's happened every time regardless of what other variables I've changed. And this has been happening for several versions of iTunes ... I first noticed it in February '05. This leads me to believe that it's intentional ... so how do I turn off this 'feature'???
WOULD SOMEONE PLEASE ANSWER THIS QUESTION?!?!?!?!?

  • My itune crash whenever it download podcast after upgrade to 11.3.1.2, I was it Win 7

After upgrade to 11.3.1.2, my itune crash whenever I try to download podcast. I am now in Win 7, the itune and those podcasts has been here for a long time. (not newly add)

I think I have found a "fix" to the problem on Win7.
My problem was : When I refresh my podcast in Itunes 11.3.1.2 on Windows 7, Itunes crashed.
I try many different things in order to "fix" the crash, but I think the key thing is renaming or deleting this folder
    C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes
    to something else like
    C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunesBak
From what I observe this affected how Itunes's UI was displayed and not much else, but I would strongly suggest to backup your stuff before doing this.
Others steps I did thay may have helped address the issue is uninstalling Itunes and reinstalling it. Renaming the Itunes folder in the music folder
    ex: C:\Users\<User>\Music\iTunes to C:\Users\<User>\Music\iTunesBak
    and then copying
    iTunes Library.itl
    iTunes Music Library.xml
from the "ItunesBak" folder to the "Itunes" folder. NOTE!! All my mp3 files are in a specific folder on my drivem if you are using the default settings don't forget to copy your media library.
    Good luck!

  • ITunes Crashed twice while updating my iPhone 4 and now the iPhone won't work.

iTunes prompted me to update to the newest version (10.5.1 or whatever it is). I did that, then went to plug my iPhone 4 in to charge and it prompted me to update to whatever the newest iPhone software was. When I went to do that iTunes crashed unexpectedly midway through, telling me that an "unknown error had occured." I restarted my computer and plugged my iPhone back in only to find that all my content had been erased. iTunes told me that the device needed to be restored so I went to do that but while it was restoring, iTunes crashed again. Now iTunes wont even recognize my iPhone, which is stuck with nothing but an unresponsive loading screen and the apple logo. The phone wont turn off, and wont respond to any buttons.
Someone please tell me what to do!

I had almost an identical experience except that itunes didn't crash.. my now my phone won't do anything  just a blank screen..  GREAT UPDATE, APPLE~~!!  The phone worked flawlessly before.. now I have NO phone..

  • ITunes crashing whenever anything is plugged in

i've an iPhone 3G and an iPod Nano 5G (the video one). since this morning, whenever i plug in either, iTunes hangs, and eventually crashes. I haven't tested either device with another computer but since both the iPod and iPhone are having problems, i'm assuming it's not a device problem, but rather a problem with iTunes.
iTunes works fine when nothing's plugged in, but the minute i plug anything in, boom. spinning beach ball. so far, i've tried logging out and in again, shutting down and rebooting, reinstalling iTunes, restoring my home folder via Time Machine to yesterday (when iTunes was crash free -.-) and reauthorizing my computer via iTunes after deauthorizing it. zip. nothing's working.
i'm upgrading to an iPhone 4 next week and it'll suck if i can't plug the fella in for syncing :\
    help ):

I have the same problem: if I load iTunes for a second time and my iPod is plugged in the iTunes app and the system menus (top right corner of screen) freeze up.
Unplugging and plugging in the iPod seems un-freeze everything for me.

  • ITunes crashes whenever I try to access the store?

I have Windows 7 and the latest version of iTunes. Upon startup, iTunes prompts me to sign in twice, and closing the first prompt will only have the second one brought up seconds later. Signing in has the same effect. This is annoying, but not the important part.
The important part is that whenever I try to access to iTunes Store, signed in or not, iTunes crashes.

  • After installing itunes 8.1 itunes crashes whenever I plug my ipod in...

I downloaded itunes 8.1 yesterday when apple told me to, but now whenever I plug my ipod (4th gen. nano) in itunes crashes with the vista message 'itunes has stopped working' and it forces me to close the program.
    How can I fix this?

    Hi Brennahunt,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your iPhone is not recognized by iTunes for Windows, try these troubleshooting steps first:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
If the steps in the article above do not solve the issue, completely remove and reinstall iTunes using the method in this article:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
This process should not affect any music or content on your computer, but you may want to
back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive.
When reinstalling iTunes (step 3 in the article above), be sure that you are logged in to your computer as an Administrator:
Make sure you have an administrator account.
To install iTunes or QuickTime, you need to log in as an administrator on the computer. If you're not sure you have an administrator account, you may find this Microsoft article helpful: Windows 7: How do I log on as an administrator? You can refer to the Help documentation from Microsoft, contact your IT department, or visitsupport.microsoft.com for more information.

  • IPhone 3Gs - iOS4 update problem, iTunes crashed, iPhone wont update

    Hello!
Yesterday, I finally decided to upgrade my iPhone 3Gs to iOS 4 from 3.1.2 after having returned to my relatives house in europe. However, during the update, I got an error from iTunes (I can't remember what it was, it had a red circle with a white X and say something "unknown" had happened) and iTunes crashed. Then when I tried to update again, iTunes told me that the iPhone was in Recovery mode and had to be restored then updated.
Well, I was pretty mad about this because iPhoto failed to copy some of my videos and photos that I did not want to loose, but I went on with it. Almost immediately, the message "Restoring iPhone Software" came up and the iPhone screen changed and the status bar on my Mac Book went to what looks like 95%. On the iPhone it looks as though its around 60%.
It had been like this for four hours, and I decided to call Apple support through skype since I am not at home in the USA, they told me that it can take up to or even more than 10 (ten!!!!) hours for it to restore!
So I left it on over night, its now been 15 hours and the iPhone is still at 60% and on my Mac Book Pro I still get the message "Restoring iPhone Software" and its still at 95%.
I have a 12 hour flight to the US in a few days, and I would like to know if there is a way to fix this. The phone was running 3.1.2 before I decided to upgrade.

I managed to fix this by connecting the iPhone to another computer, this time a PC using Windows 7 (because the only mac I have is my MacBook Pro late 2009 edition), and the iPhone restore and update worked in less then 5 min.
Also, it looks like the apple rep was mis-informed as the backup DID SAVE my photos and videos!

  • ITunes crashes whenever try to synch ipod shuffle

I have been using my iPod shuffle 4th gen for a year and it has been fine. I have just had an iTunes voucher for Christmas and therefore have had to create an Apple account to download music. I have done that and now I cannot synch my ipod shuffle. I have tried downloading the latest version of iTunes but this has not made any difference. I have tried not having the ipod synch automatically so whenever I click on "synch" it is then that iTunes crashes. I thought it might be because my ipod is not authorised to have bought content from iTunes but I can't see where I can authorise it. Can anyone please help?

This is an existing issue, check out previous posts for potential solutions; most people haven't resolved their burn problems yet. If iTunes just disappears after you hit the burn button, this might be a fix for it. On my iBook I had used an external burner with previous iTunes versions, if that same burner is connected iTunes burns just fine, if the external is disconnected iTunes simply disappears if I hit burn. This can also apply if you have recently replaced your internal burner and haven't used it with iTunes in some time. This seems to be a bug with iTunes that has not been fixed.

  • ITunes crashes whenever I try to sync videos

    Hey everyone,
Just yesterday I purchased a new 6th Gen iPod Classic, and syncing music is fine, but when it comes to syncing videos it's a totally different story.
I sync my iPod (which has all the music on) and there are no more songs to go on it, so I decide to put on some videos. However, when I try to sync the iPod again, intending for videos to go on, iTunes crashes and asks me to send an error report. I've tried this about a million times now, and have tried resetting my iPod, all with no luck.
Has anyone else had this problem and know how to make the videos sync without me having to pull out more hair from my head?!

You should try an alternative iPod manager such as these http://www.copytrans.net/helpcopytrans.php#22

  • Why does whenever i updated my iphone 4 with ios 6.0.1 to ios 6.1 it always says that "Update is Failed"???

cuz whenever i updated my iphone 4 ios 6.0.1 to ios 6.1 as it says in my software updates it always says in the nearest end that Update Is Failed. I wan't to update it because my current ios version right now is not compatible with the carrier network that i've been using. And i've heard that 6.1 fixes those Bugs. I'm from Philippines by the way.

Whether you want to update to iOS 6.1 or not is up to you. There were no earth shattering "wow" features included in this update. The bug fix for the March 2013 calendar crashing issue, a new UI for the look screen when playing music, and a couple of other things.
If you want to update, just go to Settings>General>Software Update and update the iPad over WiFi.
You can read about it here.

  • Itunes crashes whenever I try to do anything...

Adding folders, deleting songs, rating music, whenever an album finishes, my itunes continually crashes. It's been doing this for the past few software updates, so I don't know what is going on. I've tried doing a total uninstall and that didn't work either. Anyone have any advice? I'm just about ready to trash this piece of junk program and get a music player that won't crash every fifteen minutes...
