I have tried uninstalling all previous apple software and then reinstalling.
Quicktime also appears to work.
Appreciate your help.
Thanks

No, that might put all your music in a different folder. Making a new library was just a test, to see if it was a problem with the itunes database file.
That new test library probably got named iTunes1...you can just delete that after you close itunes.
You can recreate your library using these steps. It should get back everything except Date Added.

  • Error numbers are 2502 and 2503 for installing iTunes for Windows 64 bits. How to fix?

    Hey guys,
I cannot install iTunes (latest vision) on my new laptop (Windows 64 bits), and it says that the error numbers are 2502 and 2503...
Can someone tell me how to fix this?
    Thank you!

Check your system date & time is correct.
Run the System File Checker: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833
If you still have problems try a creating a new user account with administrator rights, log into it, and attempt the install from there.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for performance issues or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

  • ITunes for Windows 64-bit (oops, doesn't install under XPx64)

Just as the subject states, whenever I try to install iTunes 7.6 64-bit, it declares that I must have Windows Vista in order to install this. If it's not supposed to work for XP x64, then why post that on the download page? Hopefully if you were trying to be nice and provide us with an XPx64 copy, this trouble will be corrected sometime down the road?
    Thanks in advance.

The 64 bit version of iTunes will not install on my machine either. The setup program only checks for Vista 64 and if its not then it won't allow you to install. If there's no major difference in how iTunes works under XP and Vista then It seems like all it take is for the setup program to check for Windows XP x64 then allow iTunes to install.
P.S. I've installed the 32 bit version of iTunes on XP x64. It works but is not stable; It already crashed twice.

  • Can't install itunes on windows 64 bit system

I tried to install itunes on my 64 bit machine, but with verson 6.0.5, it says this software doesnt support 64 bit systems. I tried to install an earlier version i think its 6.0.4.2 not sure, but it does install on my computer. When I try to open the program and quicktime, I get error box saying the program had a problem and couldn't open. Is there anyway to fix this problem, and is there a way to have the newest version of itunes to work on windows 64 bit?
      Windows XP Pro

iTunes and QuickTime have never been supported on the 64-bit version of Windows (look here for the official statement). Some people have managed to get it working (at least tolerably), but from what I've read, a recent update from Microsoft has caused a lot of problems. You might try rolling back recent Windows updates and see if you can get things working again.

I open iTunes and it says it is opening in compatibility mode, when it isn't. This issue is annoying but I can live with it since everything else seems to work.
With that one, first see the following document. (Make sure that all the boxes in the tab are unchecked, not just the compatibility mode box.)
[iTunes for Windows: How to turn off Compatibility Mode|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1489]
If all those boxes are unchecked, but you're still getting a compatibility mode message, the cause is usually an errant registry setting. For troubleshooting advice on fixing that possibility, see RandomBehavior's post in the following topic:

  • I have a brand new iPad 2 and it is not being "seen" by iTunes for Windows (64 bit Win 7)

I originally had my iTunes library (music, apps, etc) on a MacBook.  Used "home sharing" to drag over most of my collection to my new Windows 7 laptop.  All apps, music, etc show up fine in iTunes on Windows but when I unpacked my new iPad 2 and plugged the apple cable into the USB port on my Windows laptop and the other end in my iPad 2, no synching occured nor did the iPad 2 show up on the left-hand list on iTunes.
Any idea what might be wrong?  I did already try different USB ports.  Each time I plug and unplug I get the audible notification from my laptop that the cable is disconnected and/or connected.  so it's not a hardware issue.

    A Couple of questions..
Is the location shown under preferences/Advanced/General still showing the correct location?
Is the check boxes under this checked or unchecked?

  • Installing iTunes on Windows 64 bit XP

Where can I find the installation file for iTunes, that can be installed on Window XP, 64-bit?  The file I downloaded from itune.apple.com gives me an error stating "This iTunes installer requites Windows Vista 64-bit edition."

I'm sorry you are having problems with iTunes.
It is best to reach out to Apple http://bit.ly/OBKBjr to get additional information on that product.

  • New itunes crashes my 64 bit Vista system

I have the immediately prior version, 9.0.2.25, and it installed perfectly and has been working reasonably well (some problems with synchonization are minor-doesn't remove music from my iPod that I unchecked in iTunes), but every so often I try to install the new one. Now it simply crashes my system, right to blue screen and restart. No error message feedback.
Maybe I should just forget about this new update and wait for the next? Noticing some install 9.0.3 and then can't use it!
I'd love to know what's going on and have some help with this. Many thanks.

Sorry for the delay...have been away.
When my system crashes during the attempt to install, there is no error message but simply the blue screen saying it is dumping the contents of memory to hard disk.
I usually get another message before this happens, saying it cannot access the Microsoft installer, that it may be corrupt. However, I am able to install other programs both before and after with no problems. I'm wondering if this message is actually caused by other installation issues, such as a file already existing that can't be deleted or change, such as the "temp" file in C:/appdata.
This file resists deletion or change of name, and is rather large, over 5 gig in size.
Should this be deleted in safe mode?
    Thanks,
    John

You may be able to fix this issue by holding down Ctrl+Shift as you launch iTunes which should open it in safe mode with this message:
Click Continue, then close iTunes and reopen. It may open normally now.

  • Adding new Visualizer(s) to iTunes for Windows (Vista/7 64-bit)

I was actually kinda curious, not really a technical question, but are there ways to add other visualizers into iTunes? I ask this in particular, as I have worked with Macs before, and I fell in love with the Jelly visualizer from 10.5, and would love to have that same one running on Windows Vista. Any suggestions as to where other visualizers can be obtained, or how to port one over from Mac to PC?

That version is quite old now, though its fine if you don't have a device that requires a newer version for syncing or want to use the latest features. Should you want to bring things up to date howver, and have problems updating, then for general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

I have been trying to fix this for weeks but all i can do it re-install it every other day which does nothing!
